The Nintendo World Championships will be held for the third time ever on October 7 in New York City's Manhattan Center's New Ballroom. Qualifiers begin on August 19 at eight Best Buy stores around the United States: New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Dallas, Seattle, and Miami. Visitors will also be able to get hands-on with upcoming titles Super Mario Odyssey and Metroid: Samus Returns.
Players are divided into groups based on their age, with kids 12 and under playing as Mario on Mario Kart 7's "Luigi's Mansion" stage while those 13 and older will play as Bowser on Mario Kart: Super Circuit's "Bowser Castle 1." Those with the best time over the two-day event in each location's age groups will advance to the NWC in New York.
