News::Everything You See In Space Combat Sim Wings Of St. Nazaire Is 2D. No, Really

"If youre a fan of retro space combat sims such as Wing Commander and X-Wing then youre in for a treat. Wings of St. Nazaire is an impressive, currently in development, attempt at recreating those older games in look and play style but for systems of today. What that means is you play as a space pilot and blow up enemy ships into colorful explosions, mostly. Its simple enough, and the intention of its three-man team is for it to be plenty of fun to just dive into and play. The team behind Wings of St. Nazaire says that the plan is to release the final game for free. However, if they do end up charging for it (and they probably should) then it shouldnt cost you much, apparently. Plus, as its being made in Unity 3D, theres a decent chance of it coming to consoles as well as PC once its finished."

Tin Salamunic: Inspired by 1960s science fiction films, Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space is publisher Merge Games latest escape the room FPS puzzle adventure. While still in Early Access, Albedo is an already intriguing little title that oozes with style and atmosphere. Whats even more impressive is that just one man, Fabrizio Zagaglia, is developing the entire game. Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space is a love letter to fans of old sci-fi films and those feeling nostalgic for old-school PC gaming. While still technically a little rough around the edges, Albedo shows a lot of promise with its challenging puzzles and unique gameplay mechanics. If Zagaglia manages to clean up some of the visuals and controls by the games official launch in February 2015, Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space may end up being the next big thing on Steam.

News::Review: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Destructoid

"Perhaps the biggest surprise about The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is that the developers behind the game were members of People Can Fly, the studio responsible for Bulletstorm; the idea that some of the people who came up with the over-the-top and potty-mouthed first-person shooter would go on to also make this contemplative, supernatural mystery."

News::Roundabout review - Polygon

" Roundabout is a game whose success depends on its admirable restraint. Developer No Goblin's first game doesn't do much, but all of those things are done exceptionally well. Combining elements from driving, puzzle and FMV games without becoming a product of one genre, the veterans of games like Destroy All Humans! and the Rock Band franchise have crafted a unique hybrid."

News::Review: Chariot - Destructoid

Destructoid: "Local cooperative play is something that's been increasingly neglected in an age of videogames that pushes online connectivity seemingly first and foremost. It's ironic that titles like Destiny are the current benchmark for social experiences, when all communication is done through a headset. After all, it really doesn't get more personal than sitting next to someone on a couch and working (almost literally) hand-in-hand to achieve a goal."

News::Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Old Iron King review - Polygon

"Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Old Iron King disturbed me with its difficulty. Even in a franchise bathed in brutality, the second installment in developer From Software's downloadable content trilogy contains the most punishing hours I've ever experienced in the action role-playing series. Unlike its predecessor, Crown of the Sunken King, it focuses not on changing the environment through puzzles but on surviving the environment itself. In that sense, it is a return to the formula established by the original Dark Souls, where astute players can use the quirks of the world to their advantage."

Star Wars Rebels May Not Look Like Much—But It's Got It Where It Counts

In all the hubbub at E3 surrounding The Witcher 3 - many people's game of the show - it was surprising for Eurogamer to discover that there was another Witcher game, a long time ago, that Eurogamer had no idea existed. It wasn't made by CD Projekt Red - in fact it didn't have anything to do with CD Projekt - but it was being made in Poland. It was being made by Adrian Chmielarz, the developer best known for leading People Can Fly and Bulletstorm. Long before the PCF days he worked at another studio that he co-founded with a school friend - a studio called Metropolis. And it's here that in 1996 and 1997 - six years before developer CD Projekt Red was founded - a game called The Witcher was being made.
