News::AusGamers' Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall Review

AusGamers has reviewed Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall and has this to say: These missions dont quite reach the same heights as the main campaigns best moments, and we miss Corvos abilities more than we appreciate Dauds (the constant companionship of that creepy heart Corvo carried around meant more to us than we realised), but theres more effort, imagination and fun across these levels than plenty of big releases manage across their entire lengths.

News::New fixes, outfits available in Defiance

'Sharks in Winter Solstice,' the first major update to "Defiance," was added just days ago. This followed the first two episodes' pursuits for the Armistice Festival, but that's not all that has been added to the game. Alongside the update to "Defiance," new outfits are now available in the Defiance Store. Not to mention, a new set of fixes were patched in today on the PC and Xbox 360 servers. Today's update; however, is all about fixes. Particular scopes have been fixed, certain contracts should be working correctly, and grouping for Shadow War has been addressed. It's also important to note that the frequency at which armistice emergencies occur has been increased with today's update.

News::Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall DLC Review | Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Rock, Paper, Shotgun: "That said, not so long ago it rather seemed as though there was no hope of getting games which offered this much player agency on that kind of budget, so I remain exceedingly grateful for Dishonored regardless of how much I wish its PC version could have had more TLC. A rarity for DLC, Knife of Dunwall winds up increasing my affection for the game overall, and my enthusiasm for Dunwall as place for play. Its sad to see Dishonored still struggle so with plotting and characterisation, but with the passage of time I find Im simply not fussed about that side of things anyway. I wanted more, full-fat Dishonored and Knife of Dunwall gave it to me. Job dun."

News::Here are two videos of new Zelda 3DS footage

Earlier today, Hamza shared his hands-on impressions of the 3DS A Link to the Past sequel -- which I shall be affectionately calling "New The Legend of Zelda" until a proper title is announced. Ahh, what the rest of us wouldn't have done to be peering over his shoulder as he powered through that demo.

GamesRadar has just posted a five-minute, off-screen video of Zelda gameplay, with audio so clear you can make out the nostalgic arrangement of ALttP's dungeon music. Watch as Link scales the tower, flips switches, and battles Moldorm at the summit. It's like 1992 all over again!

Below, catch a longer but much quieter video from Nintendo-Online.

News::BioShock Infinite Review - PC - The Armchair Empire

From the review: "BioShock Infinite is a really neat game, which I'm glad I played. I'm not convinced it has somehow reshaped the genre or will be looked upon as the high-water mark for story telling of this or any other generation even if it did engage me. Its a cool setting filled with all sorts of small touches that show due care and attention paid to the fiction Irritional created and the closing 20-minutes are powerful, even if the player does little except get an extended explanation but I'd dispute the notion that this is somehow the pinnacle of video games because there's enough that's simply average, like the actual layout of the levels (aside from sky-lines), that those making this claim are simply seeing something that isn't present in this dimension."

Cities in Motion 2 is the sequel to Colossal Orders well received transport sim, Cities in Motion. News::Why a Moral Choice in Gaming. Is Awful

Excerpt: "Moral choice systems have seen a resurgence of popularity in the current generation with several titles in the past few years offering the player varying degrees of choice. These may not always be dubbed as moral systems, serving instead to just offer some variety between playthroughs, but there is very often an aura of good and evil about each of the options. Now this doesnt extend to sandbox games, like Skyrim or Saints Row: The Third, because those games feature a host of choices by their very definition. Im talking about games with clear cut characters and plots that contain pivotal moments where the player choice has an impact on the storyline; be it the death of a character, a shift in opinion or a radically different ending."

News::The quirky RPG film competing at Tribeca today

As the presitgious film festival takes over New York this week a bold little feature flies the flag for games along with Beyond: Two Souls.

With the annual Tribeca film festival now underway all eyes are on the competition schedules. Set to debut on the circuit later today, RPG OKC from filmmaker and writer Emily Carmichael should be on the radar of any game enthusiast and is a reminder that games are slowly creeping onto the agenda at festivals like Tribeca (in 2011 LA Noire was the first videogame to make the official selection at the event).

An entry into the Shorts In Competition: Narrative competition, RPG OKC tells the tale of an NPC romance on the bright, bubbly canvas of a throwback JRPG landscape. The trailer conveys a rather adorable slice of homage and meta-game musings on the blurred lines between reality and 16-bit fantasy that’ll be familiar to anyone who grew up hooked on the likes of Earthbound.

It’s not the only game-related property to make the cut this year, of course, as we recently reported that a special panel and screening dedicated to Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls would take place on April, 27.

News::4Player Video Review: Bioshock Infinite

4Player - "Every generation that has come along there have been those few memorable titles that, beyond being great experiences, really makes the player put down the controller and truly consider their actions and the implications of the story. 2007s release of Bioshock by then 2K Boston and meant to be a spiritual successor to the beloved System Shock series, stands as one of those few. Your journey to the decimated city of Rapture at the bottom of the Atlantic was a roller coaster ride of self-discovery whose plot twist is easily one of the most talked about moments in video games since the dawn of achievements. 2K Marin would go on to make a sequel to the adventure under the sea but the newly redubbed Irrational Games had, dare I say, loftier plans for the franchise."

As you can see, it looks largely the same with some changes here and there. Yes, exciting stuff, I know. Oh yeah, here's the trailer for the tentatively named The Legend of Zelda too. You can go see it in 3D through the 3DS eShop.
