News::Why Far Cry 2 And 4 Feel So Different
A game's narrative isn't merely its script or its visuals — mechanics play a huge part in what kind of story is being told. Nowhere is that more apparent than when you contrast Far Cry 2 with the games that came after.

News::What 'Zoning' Means In Smash Bros., And Why It's So Important
One thing that separates Super Smash Bros. from other fighting games is the fact that you have to knock an opponent off a stage to get a knock-out. This makes it crucial to get a firm grasp on the physical space in a match as well as your relationship to an opponent. Key to doing so is a process known as "zoning."

News::New PS4 Accessory Will Let You Swap In Larger, Cheaper Hard Drives
Not too long ago, it would have been hard to imagine filling up a game console with more than 500GB of stuff, but many of us have already reached that point. At CES, Nyko announced the Data Bank for the PlayStation 4, which both replaces the internal drive and allows 3.5" drives to qualify as internal storage. Basically, it means you can use larger and cheaper hard drives.

Unless you're a diehard DC Comics fan, you might not know who Booster Gold is. But you should, because he's the perfect superhero for our times. Basically, he's a selfish asshole with a robot sidekick.

News::Mad Catz' new controller looks like a Michael Bay Decepticon
I can't look away from Mad Catz' new controller for Android devices and PC. I just can't.
The L.Y.N.X. 9 is meant to "offer a premium [see: $299.99; yes, really] gaming experience in almost any situation," though it's primarily geared toward mobile gaming with its transforming design.
The gamepad can morph to dock a phone or tablet, hence its ugly yet practical appearance, and there's also a full QWERTY keyboard attachment. The L.Y.N.X. works with Windows 7/8/8.1 and can link your Android device of choice to a television via an included cable, if you'd like.
Have to wonder how big the market for this sort of thing is. Ships in March.

News::Mike and Will deliver some medieval haircuts in Game of Thrones
As Ol' Westwater and I continued our dangerous journey through Westeros, we came across a Barbershop Emergency™ in progress. Now, we couldn't just pass by and leave that poor man with that haircut, so we thought it'd be a good idea to help him out...with our broadsword.
We also start getting a political lay of the land, as the rest of House Forrester begins to make itself known. This is a good encapsulation of Telltale's modern style; some borderline clunky action, you walk around for a little bit, then you do a lot of talking.
It's still pretty interesting, but man, this is a Telltale-ass game.

News::Guy Lands Great Smash Attack Right After Announcer Teases Him About It
"I can't wait to see it work," the Smash Bros. tournament announcer said as he watched one of the fighters struggle to land a mighty blow. "It's gonna be at the top of the subreddit." And so it was. Sometimes, fortune favors the goaded.
