News::American McGees Grimm Review | GameGrin

American McGees Grimm was originally released back in 2008 as the debut game of the ever-odd Shanghai-based Spicy Horse. It was only available from the short-lived French digital distribution company GameTap (which youll be forgiven for not remembering), so never really reached a mass audience. The Alice: Madness Returns developers have now re-released the game on Steam, which means anyone can pick up this ludicrous, inspired, but also flawed title. This is a classic American McGee game, its full to the brim with bizarre concepts and does little to hide its outlandish style and presentation.

News::Pixelitis MAGFest 12 Preview: Getting an early taste of Bacon Man

"You never know what kind of neat and kooky projects youll wind up happening upon at an Indie showcase. This year, MAGFest housed its own share of titles, with one of the more popular among them being that of Skymap Games tasty-sounding Bacon Man: An Adventure. Bacon Man is described by the Massachusetts-based developer as a 3D action platformer beat-em-up RPG for PC and Mac that stars a muscular superhero with a head made out of bacon. The game puts a fantastical spin on the Food Groups, which are essentially a group of kingdoms with villainous leaders that are plotting to take the throne from Bacon Man. The places we expect to find food, like the freezer, are represented by treacherous ice caves filled with various enemies, including armed Eskimos and a disgruntled boar with the power of invincibility. You know, the usual." - Patrick Kulikowski

News::Retrospective: Darwinia

EDGE - Darwinia is obviously a love-letter to videogame culture, but its also a part of it. It doesnt just doff its cap to a catalogue of adored classics, it undertakes to capture what made them great within its own mechanics. So your Death Squads are controlled exactly as your men in Cannon Fodder were, and hurling digital grenades into bleeping knots of the Virus has all the tactile appeal of that games gratifyingly simple massacres. The Virus itself bears obvious visual similarities to the antagonists of David Brabens 80s groundbreaker of the same name, but more importantly it also poses the same sinister threat: no one part of it is formidable, but the volume and voracity of the whole constantly threatens to overwhelm. And a less visual nod to Lemmings the mechanic by which you command the otherwise aimless Darwinians by promoting a few to direct the rest pulls the same miraculous trick of making you care for something simply because it refuses to be your puppet.

News::Titanfalls Gameplay Will Make You Forget About Its Resolution and Player Count

Joel Taveras of DualShockers writes,"As exciting as it was counting down until the launch of the next gen consoles, it was also at times equally unpleasant. For me, much of the negativity stemmed from everyones focus on the lack of visual parity between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Some of it was funny, especially early on with all the ridiculous GIFs hitting forums like NeoGAF. But when you peeled away that layer of the conversation, what you were left was merely a handful of titles with slightly sharper visuals on one platform over the other; a bucross-generational leftovers from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."

"Piracy is usually something developers try to avoid. They use every means of digital rights management to try and fight torrents of their games. Ye old pirate simulator Pixel Piracys two man team wouldnt settle for such anti-user practices, yarr! They intentionally created a safe torrent for people to play the game and have now passed Steam Greenlight as a result, thanks to mountains of support. Despite defying the industrys orthodox methods of dealing with illegal downloads, theyve actually come out amazingly successful. Cevyn Scott writes: "I grew up, like many others I would assume, with a mother who was fascinated by crime shows: Taggart, Morse, Pie In The Sky, Poirot and so on. So, when I loaded up King Art Games The Raven: Legacy Of A Master Thief I was intrigued to see what web of detail would unfurl before me. The question is, was my quest to discover the true identity of The Raven a flight of fancy or did the case open up a world of possibility beyond my comprehension?"
