News:: Rainbow Six Siege tweet suggests upcoming PS4 Pro & Xbox One X support

Speaking on the game's official twitter, the Rainbow Six Siege team have suggested that the tactical shooter is in line for PS4 Pro and Xbox One support in the future.

Though no specific details were given, Ubisoft responded to a fan, stating that upgrades for the beefier consoles were definitely "on the road map". This makes sense given that a 4K textures pack was released for the PC version of Siege way back in 2015. No doubt a similar boost would be given to the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X editions, with improvements made to resolution, textures, lighting effects, and HDR.

On February 13, Ubisoft are also releasing three new editions of Siege, now in its third year of door-kicking, floor-destroying mayhem. The Complete, Advanced and Gold editions of the game come with all maps and modes to date, along with various bonuses. The Gold edition also includes a pass for all Year 3 content, whereas the Complete edition will throw in 16 Operators from Years 1 and 2, all raring to get shot through paper-thin walls.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

News:: Review: Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ was certainly met with a ton of fan adoration and hope as it presented a fighting game Dragon Ball fans had never expected to see: a competent one. Each one they were excited about in the past also held a major flaw. The Budokai series had flashy supers and not much else, Tenkaichi had a large roster but they all felt the same, and the recent Xenoverse fan favorites are only meant to fulfill the fantasy of being Goku's best friend.

But as footage was shown, characters were added, Dragon Ball FighterZ had looked better and better. The lingering question, however, was if or when the proverbial other shoe would drop. What was going to be FighterZ's fatal flaw? Luckily, nothing like that happens here and what faults do lie in its package are nowhere near as damning as they could be.

News:: Excite Truck is gaming's most underappreciated launch title

There is nothing more invigorating for the video game industry than the launch of a new console. It’s the one thing that brings developers, publishers, journalists, and fans together in absolute excitement for what is to come. It’s a cause for celebration as we jump into a new generation of gaming, and an opportunity for developers to launch hot new properties to eager consumers. Call of Duty made its console debut at the launch of the Xbox 360. SSX debuted with the launch of the PlayStation 2. Rabbids got their start with the Wii… okay maybe that’s a bad example.

Actually, the Rabbids still being marketable today is probably a triumph for Ubisoft because that Wii launch had a lot of competition. A lot of it was crap -- *cough* Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam *cough* -- but it had to stand up against the likes of Wii Sports and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Any game would be buried underneath either of those two titles, which is why it’s amazing we still have Rabbids games today. It’s also why I don’t think nearly enough gamers appreciate the splendidness that is Excite Truck.

The last thing on my mind leading up to the reveal of the Nintendo Wii was the Excite series. I didn’t play Excitebike 64, so the franchise was always this remnant of the NES era Nintendo didn’t care about anymore, like Kid Icarus. But then, out of nowhere, Nintendo brought it back. After watching videos of it out of E3 I knew I had to own it. Once I bought my Wii, it was one of the first three titles I picked up.

It may neither be the prettiest nor the most robust game, but Excite Truck on the Wii is still one of the best racers I’ve ever played. And it was perfect opportunity to show what the Wii was all about. EA brought traditional racing with Need for Speed: Carbon to the launch party, but a traditional racer on a non-traditional system just didn’t make sense at the beginning. The Wii was all about having as much fun as possible, and every track in Excite Truck emphasized fun first. I still remember flying off a jump in my Jeep on Fiji as the world became a blur around me, hitting my turbo just as I land into a small shallow of water to cool my engine and keep me going full speed.

Excite Truck was a game I simply found myself lost in. It’s so easy to learn everything, but getting those first-place finishes across increasingly complicated maps and against incredibly difficult opponents devoured my time. I’m not huge on racing games, but Excite Truck swallowed me whole. I don’t know if we’ll ever see a sequel, but goddamn an HD remaster would be frickin’ sweet on the Switch.

News:: Game Over: a lament on broken hardware and corrupted save files

Back up your saves. Dust all your consoles. Buy protectors and scratch-proof cases. Eject your discs properly. Choose life.

That's what all the clever clogs say, sometimes chastising you while you grieve. But some of us like to live life on the edge. And then we have to deal with the consequences.

When you have a finite amount of time and money with which to play games, problems with your hardware or twenty-hour save files that vanish into the ether can be a real sour note. If you're someone like me, who gets easily bored by repetition and replaying the exact same parts of games with the exact same outcomes, corrupted save files can be ruinous. I seek solace, though, in the fact that something similar has happened to nearly everyone and we can wallow in our misery together.

So, what tragic tales do I have to tell about consoles consigned to the rubbish dump and lost progress? Pull up a pew, for I have quite a collection...

News:: This Monster Hunter fan animation captures the Nergigante's worst traits

When I fought the Nergigante with my friends during the Monster Hunter: World beta, I knew there was something off about the creature. Lo and behold, NCH Productions unleashed a short that confirms my superstition about the 15-minute hunt.

I'm not sure if this was a coincidence, but I went through a good amount of the issues covered in the animator's piece. Of course, the thing that felt strange was the range of the Elder Dragon's moves. While it reminded me of my early screw-ups, NCH's timing worked well in making the moments feel hilarious.

Seeing that he creates these animations when a new Monster Hunter game launches, it's going to be fun seeing NCH's future shorts as we tackle World's current and future content. One thing for sure, I can't wait to see his new takes on a certain green T-Rex.

News:: Monster Hunter: World is getting Ryu and Sakura costumes

Are you enjoying Monster Hunter: World so far? Well, it's about to get a little more badass.

Just a few days ago we told you Street Fighter V will be receiving some Monster Hunter: World costumes this Spring, but that isn't the only crossover between the two titles coming our way. Capcom announced a series of quests are coming to World that will reward players with "SFV Tickets" they can use to craft costumes modeled after Ryu and Sakura.
