Pro Evo Plays Better Than FIFA, But That's Not Enough

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015's motto is "The Pitch Is Ours". It's a rallying cry to purists, fans of the sport who want their game to play like the real thing, not just look like it. It's also accurate: in almost every respect, Konami's game plays better than EAs. But that doesn't matter.

News::World of Warcraft subreddit returns following moderators big mistake

Over the weekend, various gaming websites reported on the moderator takedown of popular subreddit, r/WoW, in response to launch issues plaguing the recently released World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor. Fortunately, it seems that r/WoW is back up and running following the unprecedented shutdown. r/WoW's return is no surprise as its nearly 200,000 subscribers naturally took to outrage against nitesmoke's controversial decision. A new moderator, known as aphoenix, has stated the following in regards to the situation: Nitesmoke made a mistake. It was a big one. Im going to simply ask that you stop trying to get back at him. Its over; hes not on the moderation team here. Nobody here is on board with how he handled the situation. We will not handle the situation in the same way. Nitesmoke has apologized (to me, and through me, to you), and I apologize as well. Im not trying to sweep anything under the rug; Im trying to put out the right message. I think...

News::Grave is bringing its strange brand of survival horror to PS4

Grave, an unsettling desert survival horror game with shrieking boogeymen who stalk you at night, is headed to PlayStation 4 next year. I'm somehow only now hearing about this port.

Broken Window Studios' modest Kickstarter didn't bring in enough money for its PS4 stretch goal back in April but, as noted on the PlayStation Blog, it's coming to the platform anyway. It will join the existing 2015 release plans for Steam (PC/Mac/Linux) and Xbox One.

The trailer is a few weeks old but I'm only now seeing it and wishing I hadn't seen it. Good stuff.

Rookie Mom Guesses Smash Bros. Character Names, Improves Them

David Melnarik got his mum to sit down on the Smash Bros. website and try to name every character in the game. Some of them, she knew! Most, she did not, but that didn't stop her from guessing (and in many cases improving on Nintendo's actual names).

Never Alone: The Kotaku Review

When was the last time a video game told you about a whole other culture? Took you somewhere remote you'd only heard about in passing, and let the people who've lived there speak to you in a generations-old voice? Never Alone does that all-too-rare thing and does it very well.

News::Randal's Monday Review | GameGrin

Comedy has always been a challenge for videogame developers. Gaming, at this point in time, just doesnt seem to have a hook on the ability to make people laugh. There are definitely some good examples out there: from the blatant silliness and wit of Monkey Island to the subtle charm of the Uncharted series all the way through to the outrageous parody of GTA. Yet its easy to say that there arent enough games designed specifically to make people laugh. A comedy videogame is a rare breed, so its good to see some newcomers to the firing line. Randals Monday is a comedy game, through and through.

News::Dragon Age: Inquisition Review [RPG Site]

RPG Site Writes: "By offering such a breadth of content and then giving the player great freedom, Bioware greatly risks overwhelming many players - but that risky scattershot approach has, I feel, paid off here. If you're the type of player who loves that kind of freedom, however, you're in for an incredible treat. It's certainly the best Dragon Age has ever been."

News::The Sun and Moon Review (PC) | CriticalIndieGamer

(CriticalIndieGamer) The Sun and Moon is the very epitome of videogame masochism and punishes far more than it rewards unless you can give it the ample time required to master its 150+ levels. Its one of those games that really makes you work for your gratification, even if only a fleeting sense of achievement. As much as we wish we were any good at The Sun and Moon, we just arent as our ground teeth, pounded keyboard, and flipped desk will attest to. So if you dont mind, well be backseat gamers and watch someone else play it instead.
