News::Razer releases Cortex game deal price comparison engine

Razer has added some new software to its host of programs with Cortex, a frontend where players can shop and compare prices for games, launch games, boost computer performance, back up saves, and record in-game footage. It includes a host of performance boosting utilities from Razer Game Booster, and utilizes the cloud for backing up saves.

Razer Cortex will compare prices across the most popular downloadable game stores and will feature a Wish List feature that will notify gamers when the games on that list drop in price or appear in a store's discount list. The Deals feature will also include a predictive feature that will suggest other games that the player may like based on their gaming activity.

From now until the official launch of Razer Cortex on September 10, Razer will be holding a two-week long early access event where users can sign up with their Razer ID to join a queue. Participants will be progressively given access to test server performance for the upcoming launch.

Anyone with a Razer ID can join here at the official signup page. Are you going to give it the old college try?

News::Kickstarter Weekly: Script Kiddies, Rays the Dead, and A Rite from the Stars

Garrett from The Koalition writes: With an endless supply of similar looking games on Kickstarter, projects have a difficult time standing out. While many developers can still manage to entice backers with visual styles that, while conventional, are skillfully rendered, the games themselves may lack personality. Thats why Ive decided to look for Kickstarter projects that are brimming with personality, even if theyre not much different aesthetically from their competition. Script Kiddies shows us what programming culture is like through retro lenses. Rays the Dead creates a convincing argument that its better to be on the side the undead in a zombie apocalypse. And A Rite of the Stars shows us the evolution of the point-and-click genre through the theme of rite of passage. Which game do you find to be the most charismatic?

News::Hako Vision lets you enjoy a Hatsune Miku concert anywhere

The next set of Hako Vision boxes have been revealed, and they'll feature virtual idol Hatsune Miku.

Hako Vision is a series of boxes that when opened up and assembled turn into a live "3D" rendering using the power of a smartphone, a quick video program, and some tricks of the eye. The series also previously took on the Gundam franchise. Each box will showcase one of four different songs. There are also two different bromide cards to collect and a pamphlet.

If tiny, eye-tricking, virtual pop stars are your thing, the Hatsune Miku Hako Vision boxes will go on sale September 19 in Japan. And I must admit they're pretty awesome. I kind of want to check one out.

Rocksmith 2014 has been rated for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by the ESRB and Korean Game Rating Board, and I'm still sitting here waiting for a new iteration of Guitar Hero. Although Ubisoft hasn't announced any new versions of the guitar tutoring game, this has not been the first sighting of evidence of new versions.

UK retailer Zavvi is currently listing the game for Xbox One, while in July a now-removed Amazon Italy listing noted that players will be able to transfer purchased DLC from the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the PS4 and Xbox One respectively.

Stay tuned for more riveting news in the Rocksmith 2014 saga, while I lament the fact that it probably won't be able to teach me how to play guitar like Sir Joshua of Homme.

Whoa! The official Nintendo UK Store website has a listing for upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC that will add characters and courses from other Nintendo properties, including The Legend of Zelda's Link, Animal Crossing's Villager, and a kart based on F-Zero's Blue Falcon.

The first pack releases in November and includes Link, Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario, four vehicles, and eight courses. Then, in May, the second add-on introduces Villager, Dry Bowser, Isabelle, four more vehicles, and eight new courses. The DLC packs are priced at £7.00 each.

"As a bonus for purchasing both packs -- as a bundle or separately -- you can get eight different-colored Yoshis and eight different-colored Shy Guys that can be used right away."

It's about time this happened. I'll be dying to boot up Mario Kart 8 again come November.

I've started to think that maybe there is no reason to assume that the universe could only have come into existence by accident. Perhaps the Big Bang could have been set off as a deliberate act by some form of intelligence that is as incomprehensible to us as our society is to a goldfish in a bowl. I figure, since there's probably no way of knowing the exact circumstances that led up to the Big Bang, it'd be arrogant to dismiss anything outright.

News::Light Review (PC) | CriticalIndieGamer

(CriticalIndieGamer) Price tends to be a big factor for people when it comes to buying games. It isnt a surprise really, people have a limited supply and want to know they are getting their moneys worth. However, a lot of the time this leads to a debate over whether or not length directly relates to the value of the game. On the whole, value for money depends on your experience with the game, not time spent with it. Sometimes however, like in the case of Light, you can be left wondering if it really was a good enough experience to justify the cost.

News::World of Diving out now on Steam Early Access

A few months ago, I got the chance to check out Vertigo Games' World of Diving . Set in a procedurally generated world, players can explore the depths of the ocean while interacting with aquatic life, uncovering lost treasure, and even venturing to long-forgotten wrecks. Now, the developers have just released their game on Steam Early Access. While this title was in beta with limited features for many months, its debut on Early Access has opened up many long-awaited features, such as the mission editor and deeper player customization.

As one of the many games utilizing the Oculus Rift, World of Diving definitely sets itself apart from the pack by offering an experience that focuses on exploration and working with friends.

I definitely had a blast playing the game at GDC. As someone who's never been diving, it was certainly an eye-opening experience, especially with the Oculus Rift. But still a ton of fun. There aren't too many games that focus on underwater exploration, so it's certainly refreshing to see a title that seeks to fill the void.
