News:: Another Pokemon is being added to the arcade version of Pokken Tournament

You would be forgiven for thinking that Pokkén Tournament was a finished game. No DLC was ever announced for the game and the eventual port to Wii U kind of solidified that the roster was complete. The arcade original launched with eight fighters before getting updates that expanded the roster to 16.

On October 13, we can make that total 17. No information has been given on what the new Pokémon will be, but fans on NeoGAF are speculating. Empoleon or Scizor seem to be the prime suspects, though anything could happen.

The tweet comes from the official Japanese account for Pokkén and is as follows:

News:: It looks like Resident Evil 7's VR mode will be a timed PlayStation exclusive

It appears as if you might not need to buy a PlayStation 4 and PS VR in order to play Resident Evil 7 in virtual reality, provided that you're willing to wait a little longer.

The official Resident Evil Facebook page recently released a promotional image for the upcoming horror game's virtual reality mode that, in the bottom left-hand corner, mentions that the feature will only be exclusive to the PlayStation VR for 12 months. The promotional image itself was quickly pulled, but not before it was shared to Reddit by user Xx-MCXCVI-xX. You can also view it below.

While this does imply that users of the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive may be able to play Resident Evil 7 in VR at a later date, there have been no official confirmations from Capcom on the matter. With that being said, it certainly sounds as if the option is on the table, should the company decide to pursue it.

Resident Evil 7 will be released on January 24 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

News:: In 'Madden 17' the LA Coliseum has one tiny problem

A legacy fan of the Madden sports game franchise made a disturbing discovery: In its latest version, Madden NFL 17, the evening sun is in the east, the absolute wrong side for it to set anywhere on planet Earth. It only happens during games set in Los Angeles at the Memorial Coliseum, which is the Rams' home stadium once again. Thus, the case is either an isolated aberration or a sly dig at how upside-down crazy it is that the team came back to Southern California after leaving it for St. Louis, Missouri 21 years ago.

News:: Stardew Valley adds more farm maps, buildings, and a quest

Stardew Valley is worming its way back into my life. News of a beta update put the farmer-life sim back on my radar last week, and in the days since, I realized that its soundtrack is accessible through Spotify. I've been chilling out to those songs, particularly tracks like "Winter (Nocturne of Ice)," ever since. Now that the update is ready for a final release today, it's time to return to my mess of a farm.

We already covered what all version 1.1 entails, but I've included the developer's notes again for a quick glance and a trailer with which to hinge these words on. I doubt I'll start a fresh farm until the co-op update rolls out, so the extra layout types won't be of much use yet, and I also don't tend to prioritize the relationship side of Stardew Valley. I'm still not even married! No divorce for me.

That said, it sounds like I've got a wizard to chat up and bank-busting buildings to lay down.

News:: Scare up a fight in Street Fighter V's Halloween update

Capcom doesn't want people to remember Street Fighter V for its root access or poorly constructed story mode. No, it wants you to remember that all of the cool costumes are microtransactions and that it gave you free bonus characters! You just had to grind away at a soul-destroying survival mode, but the developers are the nice guys!

That tangent aside, the Halloween update for Street Fighter V lands on October 11 and brings seven premium costumes and one new stage. Each costume is priced at $3.99 / €3.99 / £3.29 with the stage running €1.99 / £1.29 (or for 40,000 fight money). Since the Capcom Unity blog neglected to actually name the characters getting costumes, I'll do so: Ryu, Cammy, Vega, Alex, Juri, Charlie, and Necali.

I'm not sure why only seven characters are getting costumes (or why Necali is getting two), but I suppose I'll just have to accept it. I'm not one to actually pluck money down on "premium" costumes, but I know some people enjoy them. I miss the days where you could actually unlock this stuff, but thankfully the characters weren't tied behind DLC.

Also, the DLC is only available until November 29. Way to hold content hostage, Capcom.

News:: Darkest Dungeon's first DLC is The Crimson Court

Just as some of you begin to sink your teeth into Darkest Dungeon with the recent PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita ports, Red Hook Studios is starting to tease content to come: The Crimson Court.

This first add-on is centered around classy-looking vampires and that's about I'll I can say with any certainty aside from mentioning the "early 2017" release window for PC, Mac, PS4, and PS Vita. With so little to go on, I'm imagining a stand-in for Van Helsing and very bad things afflicting him.

News:: Serious Sam VR drops soon on Steam

Before watching this trailer, I imagined what Serious Sam might look like in VR. I pictured a headless, shirtless, screaming kamikaze man rushing toward me, and that's literally what the video depicts. Glad we're on the same page! I'm also glad that this game, which is coming to Steam Early Access on October 17, is just a diversion -- we're still getting a full-fledged Serious Sam 4 down the line.

Croteam will launch Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope at $40 for the HTC Vive. Support is planned for the Oculus Rift as well, but not until the Touch controllers are available (any day now...).

"We believe SSVR in current state has already the potential to satisfy all VR fans looking for some serious VR love," the studio says of the game's run on Early Access. "The game is planned to achieve its full potential in the next six months, but could be longer depending on the users feedback."

News:: This is what stealth can look like in Ghost Recon Wildlands

This is another look at the "proper" way to play Ghost Recon Wildlands, Ubisoft's free-roaming cooperative shooter set in Bolivia. A squad of developers works as a cohesive unit, sneaking around a cartel encampment in the cover of a stormy night, and not one person spontaneously rushes in guns blazing. In a real-world scenario, there likely wouldn't be such precision. Someone would totally screw up (or just plain screw around). And it probably goes without saying, but the AI can't play this well.

I came out of E3 disappointed with what I saw of Wildlands. I like the concept, generally. Open-world games built for co-op goofing off can be good fun, and by next year, when this game releases, it will be in a better state. But even keeping the pre-release qualifier in mind, what I played didn't inspire confidence. Convincing three friends to buy in for the best possible experience will be a tall order.

Sony's virtual reality face mask is out October 13 for you Rockefellers that can drop the $400 on it ($500 for the one that comes with Move controllers). To prepare you for the occasion, the PlayStation Blog has put out a pretty dang comprehensive guide to all your burning PSVR questions, such as: "Do I need a TV to play PS VR?" and "My head is larger than average – will the PS VR headset fit?"

(The answer is, "yes," apparently!)

There are other tips, like a recommended age of "12 and up," as well as, "Walking is not advised. We recommend that users play PS VR games while seated for the most comfortable and safest VR experience." And you can watch YouTube and other media, opening the doors to virtual reality porn.

What's the deal with the Galaxy Note 7? I've heard of a product "exploding" at market in a groundswell of popularity, but this is ridiculous!

Samsung's monstrous, popular phone has a problem with exploding, threatening the pocket lining of Americans everywhere. A topical modder has brought the real-world explosive into the world of Grand Theft Auto V, which is an appropriate level of satire for the open-world series.

News:: Crowd control and confetti cannons at the Overwatch Open

The studio is immaculate. Shiny black floors glisten under orange, blue and purple lights. A dozen people dressed in all black, wires dangling from their headphones to the battery packs at their waists, mill around, preparing massive hooded cameras, adjusting light fixtures, sweeping the floors and, way in the back on a raised platform, tweaking the appearance of the stage from behind multi-screen terminals. It's 9PM on a Friday night and everyone in the room is at work, but the air sizzles with chatter and excitement.

The stage itself is impressive, with three massive, crisp screens alternating between the logo for the 2016 Overwatch Open and the competing teams' insignias. A cartoon rabbit head wearing goggles and a scar over one eye smirks down from the orange side, representing the European underdog team, Misfits. A stylized white "N" surrounded by a circle looms over the North American favorites, EnVyUs. Twelve young men -- some bearded, others clean-shaven -- sit in front of their respective screens at two long, curved banks of gaming PCs, getting in just a few more minutes of practice before the big game; just a few more kills, just a few more dodges and clicks and saves. The mood on the stage is deadly serious. Whoever wins tonight takes home $100,000, after all.
