News::Ghost's Backstory Could Make a Great Call of Duty Campaign

OnlySP: Call of Duty is a franchise known primarily for its multiplayer offerings, as the campaigns offered in the series are usually considered to be basic tutorials for whats to come in multiplayer, most seasoned players would say. However, with recent rumors for Call of Duty: Ghost flying around, I got my detective hat on and did a little background search on Ghost, one of the main characters from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, who also happens to be a fan favorite.

News::Watch This Guy Make SNES Headphones

Hugo Dorison knows that big, over-the-ear headphones are where it's at. Not only do over-the-ear headphones look cooler than in-ear headphones*, but you can take up art projects like these video game headphones with them, too. Watch Dorison's video above to see what I mean.

News::Monday Mind Teasers: The Guardian

It's a little too short, a little too simple, a little tedious, and doesn't have enough music, but that's still not stopping me from declaring that The Guardian on Newgrounds is one of the best simple pixel art games I've ever played. Those who despise artsy games can go ahead and skip this week's mind teaser, but I still say you'd be missing out.

The graphics and gameplay are spot on, and this is a Shadow of the Colossus homage that's the perfect blend of simplicity, much like the PS2 game it's paying respect to. I actually do enjoy its odd pacing since big adventures can't be quick by their very nature, and Colossus definitely understood that and didn't shy from it even though they knew some would call it a flaw, yet part of me can't help wishing the creator of this flash game would go back and remake it into a longer story with more places and events to visit and interact with.

What do you think? Just the right balance and you wouldn't change a thing? Or a good game that could be legendary if it was expanded and revised?

Last Week: Huebrix!

News::The Co-op Episode 48: What Does No Unreal Engine 4 Mean For Wii U?

Gary at TheKoalition.com writes: This week our Editor-in-chief Richard Bailey and Jakejames Lugo (Venomous Fatman) joined us to speak in length about their time at Pax East last week. One of our main discussions came from GDC, where Epic unveiled their Unreal Engine 4. There was tons of controversy when they was asked if the engine would be coming to the Wii U and Epic downplayed the system by letting everybody know Unreal Engine 3 would still be available for Wii U. With the Wii U unable to take on these new technologies, what does this mean for the future of the console? Also on this podcast we discuss the Battlefield 4 and Metal Gear Solid V announcements. We also speak on some of the new releases we have been playing such as Bioshock: Infinite and Gears of War: Judgement. Pax games discussed include: Last of Us Injustice State of Decay Guacamelee Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Saints Row IV And lots more.

News::Monster Loves You Review - Twinfinite

Mike writes, "magine if you will, a game that allows you to experience the entire lifetime of a character and shape your complete experience based on the decisions you make both out on adventures and back in your hometown. Imagine not only managing your attributes by acting and reacting in appropriate ways, but also increasing your meter by which others respect you over the course of your life. Now, imagine youre a monster. This is essentially what Monster Loves You is: a life simulator that guides you towards one of a multitude of possible lifetimes. Its a fascinating concept, to be sure. Too bad its not much of a game."

News::GDC 2013: record attendance confirmed, date set for 2014

The 2013 Game Developers’ Conference was the biggest year in the event’s history, attracting a record 23,000 to the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Event organiser UBM also confirmed that GDC will return to the same venue next year, on March 17th-21st 2014. The call for submissions to speak at the event will open this summer.

“With the game development industry evolving at a faster clip than ever before, we find both the profile of the developer and the types of games represented at GDC also growing to include new and different people and interests,” said general manager of the Game Developers Conference Meggan Scavio. “The response we’ve gotten to this year’s event makes us feel confident that the changes we’ve made, such as the introduction of the Advocacy Track and the Free to Play Game Design and Business Summit, have helped evolved the conference to be even more inclusive.”

You can see all of our coverage from the last week on one page in our GDC 2013 news hub.

News::Here is something that I wasn't expecting to read on Thought Catalog: why Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z

Here is something that I wasn't expecting to read on Thought Catalog: why Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z is better than Goku. The author, Alfred MacDonald, makes a compelling argument: "real people have anger, drive, ambitions — real people are selfish, if not embarrassing." Vegeta seems like more of a real person, and put that way, yeah, I guess Goku wasn't an interesting character, huh?
