News::IGN- Super House of Dead Ninjas Review

IGN:While based on a free Adult Swim Flash game, Super House Of Dead Ninjas adds more than enough to justify a paid version graphically, and in terms of new content. It's relatively easy to power through if simple completion is your goal, but the additional challenges layered on top, bonus dungeons and promise of user created levels to come add plenty of longevity. Even if it is a short-lived thrill, it's one worth having a blazingly fast, high-adrenaline slice of randomized retro fun that may even convince you that you have actual ninja reflexes.

Quarter to Three: Bioshock Infinite doesnt have the impact of the original game, because it doesnt have that games focus. It doesnt hit as hard because its wider and more dazzling, pulled appropriately into many directions and seen through many lenses, a kaleidoscopic reflection of storytellers like Christopher Nolan, Thomas Hardy, Ken Levine, the Coen Brothers, Jorge Luis Borges, Ronald Moore, Sophocles, and D.W. Griffith, inspired instead of derivative, entirely unforgettable, and deserving a life beyond the middling game where it lives.

News::BioShock Infinite and my mom don't get along

It’s ironic that I once wanted games to be validated by my mom so badly, since now I give her worrisome glances as she cycles through her reality TV programming. I think we all have that one game that we think will be the game which shows our moms how glorious, beautiful, and life-altering our hobby is. There will be curbstomps that speak to the soul like Camus and rocket launchers that set fire to the heart like Stendhal. We all have those moments, and it’s unfortunate that we don’t all move past them.

Even grown journalists, in their 30s and beyond type embarrassing flowery dedications to games like Journey or Proteus , throwing a temper tantrum for their parents’ attention and affection through garish prose. I won’t name names, but you don’t have to look far for these examples -- I have no doubt we may have run a few on this website.

With all of this mind, I sat my mom down with me as I played through the first two hours of BioShock Infinite . The goal wasn’t to usher my mother into the world of “meaningful” (ugh) videogames, but to see where games stand with her now and what my feelings are toward her feelings.

As it turns out, BioShock Infinite isn’t a 10/10 in my mother’s eyes, but I can hardly care.

News::GDC 2013: Kojima announces Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has shown off gameplay footage of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which he also revealed the earlier footage of Ground Zeroes was part of.

The Phantom Pain will be an open world game, but the new footage is taken from the opening tutorial section which Kojima describes as being, “more on rails”.

Opening in a hospital, it transpires that Snake has been in a coma for nine years, and as a result has lost the use of his legs temporarily.

A fellow patient, who’s voice actor sound suspiciously like Kiefer Sutherland, helps you to escape the hospital as an unknown enemy attacks it. Snake’s movement is laboured, and the Fox Engine pulls off some wonderfully naturalistic animation. Characters’ faces, too, look excellent.

At first, the enemy only seems to be military, but in fine Metal Gear fashion, things soon take a turn for the supernatural as a floating child ascends through the ceiling and a burning man exits an elevator and approaches the player amid an inferno.

A trailer shown just before showed all manner of theatrical bombast, too, within which flaming horses, helicopters, cigars and motorbikes abound.

You can see the first images of the section in motion in our gallery – it’s all taken from gameplay and running on a PC. Full trailer below:
