News::Shelter Review | Digital Chumps

DC - "There's this tragic photograph that's been haunting for me the last half decade. It's actually three separate photographs, possibly video stills, that depict a mother duck and her ducklings crossing a sewer grate. In the first frame it's the mother duck and maybe ten ducklings on one side of the grate."

News::Review: Rayman Legends | Stevivor

Reviewer Damian Cavanagh writes, "Sometimes life is tough. "Its tough being the runt of a litter. Its tough being the short, scrawny guy in physical education class. Its tough being a middle child. It can also be tough to be a well-rounded platform game in a market flooded with RPGs, MMOs, FPS franchises and enough sport simulations to fill Madison Square Garden or at least the first few rows, anyway. But amongst all of that, Rayman Legends shines through with nary a whimper."

Polygon: "Given how much Rise of the Triad reveled in my destruction and mocked my death, it's an odd flavor of attraction. But I know I want more. DC - "Way-way-waaaaayyyyy back in the day, during the dial-up era, I had the absolute pleasure of reviewing Final Fantasy XI on the PlayStation 2. It was exciting for many reasons. News::The Game of EducationA Review of Sokobond (pixelsordeath.com)

Pixels or Death's Mike Barrett review the recently released indie puzzler, Sokobond. "I was always a good student in school. One of those kids cracking jokes in the back of the class, I never had to work very hard to earn excellent marks and never really knew what it was like to struggle in school or fall short no matter how much effort was invested. At least, not until playing Sokobond. I failed repeatedly during my time with Sokobond. In fact, you might say I dropped outI havent been able to complete all of the games puzzles despite hours of work."

News::Gone Home (PC) Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Gone Home is an interactive storytelling triumph that gives players back whatever they decide to invest into it. Rush through the game and youll catch the main beats of the narrative, but risk missing out on all of the rich context and delicious undertones that make it a truly special experience. Its slightly too short, would have benefited from a few more puzzles to justify its label as a video game and doesnt tell us nearly enough about Kaitlin Greenbriar but as an experience, its right up there with the very best games of 2013. Melancholic yet uplifting, scary yet comforting Gone Home is unforgettable.

JR truly wants to love this game. The graphic and sound design are magnificent. The storytelling is eerie and intriguing. The problem is, Kentucky Route Zero is not really a game. News::Secret Ponchos Hands-On: Good, Bad, and Dead | GameFront

While there have been plenty of great single-player games Outlaws, Call of Juarez Gunslinger that replicate the feel of a movie-style Old West duel, theres a conspicuous absence in the multiplayer realm. There are a few, such as the mod Smokin Guns, but they almost universally feel awkward, especially since they are inevitably first-person shooters. After all, shooting a pistol should be done in the first-person, right?

News::Saints Row IV Review | COIN-OP TV

The gameplay in the Saints series has always been based around third person shooter mechanics. Saints Row 1 & 2 controlled fine, but The Third refined the controls into something very solid. Saints Row IV continues that trend and nails down the combat and movement even more to the perfect level, you really feel like you have complete control of your character in most situations, whether gliding through the air with super powers or getting in a shootout with the police.

News::Review: MirrorMoon EP

Space is a beautiful yet inhospitable place; it's either filled with stunning vistas in the likes of EVE Online or horrifying Necromorphs trying to eat your face. Outer space is usually the location of combat, not the simple joy of exploration.

MirrorMoon EP is an Independent Games Festival-nominated game that let's players explore a galaxy with unique planets containing puzzles and most intriguingly, players will be able to name worlds however they please. It's a grand concept but exploring uncharted worlds isn't without confusion.

News::FPS and tower defense hybrid Sanctum 2 hits PSN today

Sanctum 2 came to PC and Xbox 360 earlier this year. Our own Patrick Hancock reviewed it, ultimately enjoying the colorful sequel, which trends more towards first-person shooter than its tower defense leaning predecessor. Which sounds good to me because I shrink a bit at the mention of tower defense these days.

A friend of mine keeps bugging me to play Sanctum 2 with him, but I haven't found the time. Has anyone been waiting on a PSN release? It's available for $15, the same price it currently sits on Steam and XBLA.
