News::Alone In The Dark Is Coming Back, And I Am Afraid
Alone In The Dark is a series that, long ago, meant something. It was the original 3D survival horror game, and the first two titles weren't just terrifying and a blast to play, but had a gorgeous old-timey art style as well. In later years, though...well, let's just say time and some publisher misdeeds pissed that legacy away.

News::Delve into SteamWorld Dig on Wii U next week
Image & Form started SteamWorld Dig off on the 3DS eShop and has since brought its mining adventure game to Steam, PS4, and PS Vita. It won't be much longer now until the studio comes back around to Nintendo -- the Wii U release is scheduled for August 28 in North America, Europe, and Australia with a price point of $9.99 / €8.99 / £6.99.
As appealing as Off-TV play on the Wii GamePad sounds -- the Pro Controller is also supported -- I'll sit this one out considering I've gone through SteamWorld Dig several times, at this point.
Those of you who have neglected to play any of the prior versions need to give it a look, though. Great game, and it's going to feel right at home on the Wii U eShop.

News::The Morrowind Remake Is Still Happening, Still Looking Fantastic
Some wonderful people have, for a while now, been dragging The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind into the engine used by the series' fifth game, Skyrim. It's a long, tough job, but after loads of trailers and environmental fly-bys, we've got a good look today at some actual walkin' around.

News::Gneiss: Mountain is now on Steam
I'm still not entirely sure what to make of David O'Reilly's Mountain, but now that it's out on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux, I am that much closer to taking the $0.99 plunge and finding out.
This is an ambient game "designed to run in the periphery of your life," one that'll play itself when you aren't interacting with it. (Hey, we all have certain needs.) In sharing his thoughts on Mountain, Chris likened it to a serene screensaver.
While that won't appeal to everyone, it sounds rather pleasant to me.

News::Vagante is a tough, promising 2D action-platformer
Nuke Nine has launched a Kickstarter for its action-platformer with RPG elements Vagante and the best part about the pitch -- well, besides several attention-grabbing .gifs -- is the included demo.
Vagante has permanent death, randomized levels, and a willingness to unceremoniously kill you in the blink of an eye. It reminds me of Catacomb Kids -- but since some of you won't be familiar with that game, think of this as a sort of Spelunky in a dark fantasy world.
For me, the biggest draw here is the mage class because heck yes I want to shoot lightning like a madman and see a bunch of damage indicators pop up. The team has been working on the game full-time for over eight months and is using Kickstarter to fund its remaining development.

News::Sony just doesn't know who keeps buying PS4s
Sony has sold over 10 million PlayStation 4s to consumers. It is a lot and more than anyone expected, including the higher ups at Sony, according to this Eurogamer interview with Sony's affable Shuhei Yoshida.
"We are so happy. But I for one am a bit nervous because we do not completely understand what's happening. You need to understand why your products are selling well so you can plan for the future, right?" Yoshida said. He's asking around, including asking press why they think the console is doing so well. "I'm asking marketing people to tell us why. They've been to people who already purchased, and some of the early data was amazing in terms of the number of people who didn't used to own PS3 have already purchased PS4.
"So we want to understand who are these consumers who we do not necessarily consider core gamers, who are purchasing PS4 and why they are doing it and what they are doing with PS4, so we can create a bit more of a positive future, rather than saying, wow, we have sold to every single core gamer."
On the other hand, Sony seems happy enough with the "core gamers" that make up the Vita population. In explaining why the Vita wasn't present at gamescom (or E3), Yoshida explained, "PS Vita gamers are pretty core, dedicated gamers. They seek information, so we trust them to find out about the games coming out on PS Vita."
