Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes: ''Team Fortress 2 has transcended the realm of merely being just another online shooter; its become a phenomenon. It is possibly the most fun you could have while playing an online shooter, and not only that, it is also the only game impossible to rage over. Sure, its not as widely appreciated by the gaming community on the whole, but this is mainly due to the limited nature of the console version. The chances are, though, that if you asked any active PC gamer if they had played Team Fortress 2, the response would be yes.''

News::Retro-Gaming: Top 5 Reasons Its Hard To Go Back

Nostalgia can be a big pull for anyone who indulges in a little reminiscing from time to time. This is especially true for gamers because we can usually find a way to play an old favorite, if we so choose. However, we often dont play our old games, do we? Of course, old games, can have a very broad definition depending on when you started playing video games. Retro will, obviously, have a much different meaning for someone in their 40s than it will for someone in their 20s. What we can agree on is that there will always be old games which we like to think wed love to play again someday. When we do decide to dust off our favorite game and play it, the experience is never quite what we had hoped. Thats not to say that our old favorites are suddenly bad, but something has changed and the experience isnt the same. It is ironic that, as gamers, we possess the means to indulge our nostalgia, and yet, somehow that nostalgia is never satisfied.

News::Could 2014 Be The Year of Blizzard?

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes: ''2014 is a big year for video games. After all, itll be be the first full year of the next generation. But for one company, it could be a massive year. Blizzard are seemingly ready to assault 2014 with expansions for two of their biggest franchises, as well as two new games that are already generating a huge buzz. Blizzards biggest money spinner, World of Warcraft, is set for a new expansion in the shape of Warlords of Draenor. With subscription numbers dwindling, but still remaining more than respectable, it seems Blizzard are more than happy to breathe new life into their mammoth MMORPG.''

News::Stick it to the Man is out now for PS Vita

The ever-hilarious and awesome game Stick it to the Man is available right frikkin' now in the PSN store for PS Vita. If you read my review, you know that I absolutely loved the charm, style, and humor of this game and I highly recommend you download it. In fact, if you got it on PS3, you're able to get it for free for Vita, as the title features Cross-Buy.

I've had a few minutes to play around with the Vita version since it's been released, and I love it even more on the handheld. The ability to use the touchscreen to tap and pull stickers, read minds, and maneuver around the papercraft-like world is perfect, making this the ideal version of the game. Yes, I'm playing through it again.

Each of those things interacts regardless of your presence, but it's your presence that makes it interesting. News::Eufloria HD spreads to PS Vita on December 17

Eufloria has been around for ages, but the stylish real-time strategy game is only now coming to PlayStation Vita with a revised HD edition by Titanium Studios. Eufloria HD has been locked in for a Tuesday, December 17 launch on the platform.

This version sports 60 frames per second "in almost all circumstances" and "super responsive" touch-screen controls, according to Omni Systems Limited creative director Rudolf Kremers.

More than that, though, I think the flow of this game will be a particularly good fit for the system. Eufloria is one of those titles about building up a colony and then swarming planets, and despite all of the death happening, it's frequently a relaxing experience.

News::Space colony sim Maia is now on Steam's Early Access

Typical, you wait an age for a management sim set in space, then two come along at the same time. I literally only bought Double Fine's Spacebase DF-9 about 24 hours ago and now up pops Maia . Just like Double Fine's effort, Maia puts you in charge of a colony in outer space, only this time you're actually on an alien world, not just floating in space.

The game looks to have a slight retro-futuristic vibe happening, influences like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Silent Running, and that's referenced on the Steam store page. There's also a influences from the likes of Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital so that's right up my alley too.

Developer Simon Roth is hoping to put out weekly updates which is a great way of showing support for your game. He's already advertising "genetically engineered super chickens" are in the game with "sassy computers" and "cats in bee suits to follow." Sounds great to me.

News::Isometric sci-fi horror game Stasis funded on Kickstarter

With three days remaining in its crowdfunding campaign, Stasis has raised the necessary $100,000 to move forward on Kickstarter. I had completely missed this Windows / Mac project until today, which I feel bad about, now that I'm digging into the pitch.

This is a 2D isometric sci-fi horror adventure set aboard a "seemingly" derelict spacecraft. Throw in a multinational corporation, a protagonist with a missing wife and daughter, and Event Horizon listed as an influence -- you've got my attention. There's even a playable alpha build which you can download over here regardless of whether or not you've contributed to the Kickstarter.

Point-and-click adventuring and horror are a winning combination, as far as I'm concerned. If you like what you see of Stasis and want to help, give it an upvote on Steam Greenlight.

News::RuneScape players raise $90K for charity

Earlier this year, Jagex introduced the Well of Goodwill, an outlet for RuneScape players to donate their in-game currency. In turn, the developer will make charitable contributions per every 10 million gold pieces put into the well by the player base.

It seemed like a neat concept, but now we know to what extent RuneScape players have embraced the system. According to Jagex, $90,838 has been donated. The money will be spread across seven charities: Willow Foundation, SpecialEffect, Action For Kids, Games Aid, Internet Watch Foundation, HART and the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal.

"The Well of Goodwill will remain in game, but you won't be able to donate items there for the time being as we're currently in the process of planning to support even more worthy causes in the near future," wrote the company. "As soon as we’ve got everything sorted, the well will be reopened."

News::Bethesda is seeking playtesters for unannounced game

There's been a lot of chatter lately about what the developers at Bethesda Softworks have got in the works. With the recent survivor2299 website popping up, and the trademarks for Fallout 4 being registered, many people are convinced that the publisher has got the next installment of the popular open-world action/RPG ready in the wings. And now, Bethesda has put out a call for playtesters for its next 'unannounced' title.

On the publisher's site, they set up an application page seeking anyone over the age of 18 and in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to sign up for playtests. While it's easy to look at Fallout as the likely candidate, remember that Bethesda owns id Software, the creators of Doom and Rage, which is also stationed in Dallas. It is possible that they've got their next title ready for extensive testing.

In any case, if you're interested in working as a playtester for this unannounced title, and you're in the area, then feel free to sign up. And remember, be sure to tell them to tighten up the graphics on level three.
