A new trailer has been debuted on the official social media accounts for the upcoming Mazinger Z anime film. While most were expected, there are a couple of surprises here and there. The trailer also reveals the movie will be debuting next year on January 13.

You can catch the new trailer below.

News:: Here are your 2017 Pokemon World Champions

Former presidential candidate Herman Cain once uttered, "A poet once said, 'Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it's never easy when there's so much on the line." The poet, of course, was Donna Summer, the poem: "The Power of One" from Pokémon: The Movie 2000. For hundreds in Anaheim this weekend, everything was on the line at the 2017 Pokémon World Championship.

It was a weekend of good spirited fun as people from around the world found themselves in the city best known for Disneyland and the dumb solutions it devises to handle its homeless problem. This year there are seven champions, down one from last year as Pokkén's Masters and Senior divisions were combined into a single tournament. Check out the winners below and click their names to see what Pokémon they used on their path to victory.

News:: Mourning the early platformer: The death of the single screen

[It's often been said that limitations help creativity. Well, I don't think there's any genre more limited than single-screen platformers! Pacario takes us on an old-school, no scrolling allowed trip down memory lane. Got a story to tell? You should write your own CBlog! ~Bass]

The platformer is among the most cherished of genres, and for many, probably synonymous with the medium itself. Indeed, when someone blurts out “video game” in random conversation, the scene of a squat, Mario-like sprite bounding along is likely the first image many imagine. And why not? From Contra to Mega Man, the genre dominated both the 8 and 16-bit eras, while Super Mario 64 came to define 3D gaming. Early 3D gaming, that is—by 2001, no one was talking Banjo or Spyro anymore, but Halo and Grand Theft Auto. The cultural zeitgeist had suddenly shifted in a radically new direction, one in which running and gunning were key. Jumping was so passé.

News:: Life, uh, finds a way in Jurassic World Evolution

When I first saw the email subject line for Jurassic World Evolution, I thought it was a mobile game. When I read it was a park manager sim, I thought it was a new edition of the Jurassic Park Builder app that existed on my old iPhone for all of 10 minutes.

So what a delight it was for me to see Evolution is not coming to mobile but instead to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC next year, around the time Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set to debut in theaters. I can't decide if Fallen Kingdom is a dumb name for that movie or a clever one that plays on the Magic Kingdom moniker.

From Frontier Developments, a team that really needs to get around to making another LostWinds title, Evolution will give players control of Isla Nublar and its surrounding land masses in the Muertes Archipelago as they build up their own Jurassic World theme park and create new dinosaur breeds. No word on if you'll have to woo Verizon, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, FedEx, and others to sponsor your attractions. Like with nearly every other Jurassic Park game I've played, keeping your park populated is only half the battle as you'll have to keep your guests safe as well. If the movies have taught us anything it's people tend to die when they visit dinosaur theme parks unless they are a child or have their name in the top billing.

News:: What does the community think of death in video games?

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was not at all on my radar when it released a couple weeks ago. But it suddenly exploded in my feed when people talked about how dying works in the game and the fail states associated with it. After a few days of talking about the game's release, people seemed to settle on Hellblade's merits on treating mental illness and psychosis in gaming after everyone was done talking about how death was handled in the game.

News:: Microsoft reveals every game enhanced for Xbox One X

Microsoft has dribbled out details of Xbox One X visual upgrades over the past couple of months, but now it's laying all its cards on the table. The company's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has posted a list of all the games currently slated to get some kind of Xbox One X enhancement. Some of them you'll already know about or would expect, such as many recent Microsoft-published games (including Quantum Break), Assassin's Creed Origins and Wolfenstein II. However, there are plenty of older and indie titles also in line, such as Astroneer, Firewatch, Hitman and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

News:: SNK unsure of future for King of Fighter XIV, developing new fighting games

King of Fighter XIV producer Yauyki Oda recently say down with IGN Latin America for an interview. During the interview, he discussed what the studio has been up to, what they have planned for the future, what's happening with King of Fighters, and why we haven't seen entries for certain franchises in quite some time.

It's an interesting interview to say the least, as it provides some insight to how SNK as a company works when it comes to games.

News:: You'll probably either love or hate this Minecraft limited edition Xbox One S

The direction technology aesthetic usually heads is toward the sleek, chic, and on-fleek. This new limited edition Xbox is kind of the antithesis of that.

Just announced this afternoon at gamescom, there's a Minecraft edition Xbox One S that certainly captures the look of the game. It's blocky, earthy, and indiscreet. It's Minecraft.

This edition comes with the console (1TB hard drive), the Creeper-themed controller, a digital copy of Minecraft, the Redstone pack DLC, a one-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass, and a 14-day trial for Xbox Live Gold. It's priced at $400 and is set to release on October 3. It's available to pre-order now through the Microsoft Store.

Love it, hate it, or have a more nuanced take (you show-off)? Regardless, it'll probably sell a boatload.

News:: The first Xbox One X pre-order is up right now

Fresh off the reveal of the Project Scorpio edition Xbox One X at gamescom, pre-orders have gone live at major retailers (Amazon and Microsoft Store are two of them). Chances are they won't last long. Microsoft has told us that quantities are limited and it's gone once supplies run out.

The Project Scorpio edition isn't being sold at a premium of any sort; it carries the same $500 price tag that the normal version does. This is just a cheeky nod at a cool codename and the first opportunity to actually secure the new Xbox.

It's certainly not the last opportunity, though. Microsoft has confirmed to us that this pre-order round is only for the Project Scorpio edition. A representative said that Microsoft "will have more to share about additional pre-orders soon."

News:: The Project Scorpio name lives on through a special edition Xbox One X

When it comes to video game hardware, codenames are so often better than the real name that is eventually revealed. That's the case with the new Xbox. E3 dashed our hopes that Microsoft would hold onto the Project Scorpio moniker when the (probably more on-brand) Xbox One X was unveiled.

Project Scorpio isn't quite dead though. At gamescom today, Microsoft announced the Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition. It's an Xbox One X with the words "Project Scorpio" printed on both the console and the controller. Microsoft says that there's also a "sophisticated and dynamic graphic pattern across the exterior," as well as packaging that's inspired by the original Xbox."

The Project Scorpio Edition also represents the first opportunity to pre-order the Xbox One X. Major retailers like Amazon and the Microsoft Store have it available for $500. (If the pages aren't live yet, they will be soon.) Microsoft has told us that the Project Scorpio edition is quite limited in number and it'll be sold until supplies run out.

News:: There's a new Xbox One S bundle that comes with Middle-earth: Shadow of War

It's that time of year where console bundles featuring the year's biggest upcoming games get announced. Sony took its first shot in July with the Destiny 2 PS4 Pro bundle. Now it's Microsoft's turn to fire back.

Just announced at gamescom is a Middle-earth: Shadow of War Xbox One S combo. It releases on October 10 alongside the game, but pre-orders will be available soon. The bundle comes with the white console, Shadow of War, a white controller, a one-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass, and a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial. The 500GB version runs $279, while the 1TB hard drive is $349; that's the standard price for bundles with new games.

Interestingly, those living in the US don't have a choice between hard drive sizes. The only option in the US (along with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico) is the 1TB SKU that runs $349. Both China and Japan miss out on this one altogether, but otherwise it's available in some form in all Xbox One markets.

News:: Sea of Thieves will be cross-play on PC and Xbox

Xbox brought Rare and Sea of Thieves to gamescom, and the pirate adventure has impressed yet again. But, there's a new announcement that means your swashbuckling squad can be a little bit more diverse.

For the first time, Microsoft and Rare have confirmed that Sea of Thieves will be cross-play between PC and Xbox. "No fine print" a developer said at the live event. It should just work no matter which platform you're on.

Also announced: Vomiting in buckets and throwing it on other players. "Tactical puking," the host commented.

Now that we've created Dtoid Fight with the express purpose of creating multiplayer gameplay videos, I'm suddenly wayyyyyyyy more pumped for Sea of Thieves. This one should be a hoot.

News:: Microsoft unveils 'Minecraft' edition Xbox One S

How devoted are you to Minecraft? Devoted enough that you want your console to be a living, breathing representation of the construction game? If so, you're in luck. Microsoft has unveiled a limited edition Minecraft Xbox One S that drapes the entire console in Mojang's blocky art style. There's a grass block on the front, a transparent, redstone-laced bottom and a Creeper-themed green controller (there's an optional pink, pig-themed gamepad). Naturally, it'll include a copy of Minecraft (with the Better Together update).

News:: Xbox One X will launch with a limited Project Scorpio Edition

The rumors were true. Microsoft is marking the launch of the Xbox One X by starting pre-orders for a limited Project Scorpio Edition for the console. It'll cost the same $499 as the standard model, but this is more than a rehash of the Day One system that commemorated the Xbox One launch in 2013. On top of Project Scorpio lettering on the console and controller, the machine gets a "sophisticated and dynamic" pattern and an exclusive vertical stand to flaunt your early adopter status. Even the packaging has a twist -- it harkens back to the 2001-era Xbox.

News:: Xbox One interface is getting a light mode

Sick of how dark everything is on your Xbox? You can brighten your console in the near future.

One of the more granular-but-actually-interesting announcements from Xbox at gamescom is that a future update will bring a light mode. It'll change the interface from dark to white. It's reminiscent of where the Xbox 360 UI eventually ended up.

Not particularly important but aesthetic makes a difference.

News:: Starfire gets the royal treatment in Injustice 2

Some characters need to work for their dinner. No matter what you think about tiers in fighting games or what makes a “good” or “bad” character, there is no denying that some are just plain harder to use than others. They can take a higher degree of execution to perform, they can have weird moves that require a lot of time and practice to master, or they can have complicated playstyles that take a certain level of creativity to really work.

And then you have characters like Starfire.

Starfire isn’t a character who is necessarily overpowered. Instead, I’d prefer to use the term “straightforward.” I don’t know if we’ll be seeing her tear up the tournament scene anytime soon, but she’ll definitely be terrorizing couch games and online sets for months to come.

News:: Build your own dinosaur park in 'Jurassic World Evolution'

Did you watch Jurassic World and think that the chaos could have been avoided with better park design? You're going to get a chance to prove your theory. Elite: Dangerous developer Frontier has taken the wraps off of Jurassic World Evolution, which will have you running your own park on Isla Nublar. Think of it as a very violent Rollercoaster Tycoon -- you'll build attractions, engineer new dinosaurs and try to prevent your creations from chomping on guests.

News:: ReCore's DLC is free for existing owners, Definitive Edition coming August 29

All the leaks were spot-on: ReCore is getting a Definitive Edition. During Xbox's gamescom live event, a new retail release for ReCore was confirmed for August 29.

The Definitive Edition contains the inclusion of the fifth robot frame that was missing from the original release. However, standard edition owners will receive the DLC for free. This is welcome news for anyone who bought the game last year, as the missing tank robot felt more like content ripped out from launch rather than content added after the fact.

Also mentioned is that ReCore Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox Game Pass next month. For anyone who's wary of buying, that might be a nice way to rent instead.

News:: 20 years later, GoldenEye 007 is still the greatest Nintendo 64 game

On August 25, just a few days from now, the Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye 007 will celebrate its 20th anniversary. That's 20 years of jumping off that dam, 20 years of golden guns and 20 years of chaotic multiplayer in the Archives and other levels sometimes but mostly just the Archives. Originally set to debut on the SNES as an on-rails shooter, GoldenEye 007 was rebuilt from the ground up for the N64 and missed the release of the movie by nearly two years.

The wait was worth it and for anyone who owned a Nintendo 64, it was a necessary addition to their gaming collection. Its lengthy campaign is still a blast to play through with multiple objectives to complete and then-amazing recreation of the locations from the hit film.

But what makes it still the best Nintendo 64 game today is the local competitive multiplayer. I can't name another first person shooter that got as much play between me and my friends than GoldenEye. Even Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 64 were cast to the wayside in favor of this perfect party game. Just me, Tristan, Shawn and Lee, three guys who I don't have contact with anymore, hopped up on orange soda and a Hawaiian Papa Murphy's Take-and-Bake (all the premium taste, without the premium price) gunning each other down for hours on end.

20 years ago GoldenEye 007 revolutionized the genre on consoles. 50 years from now, those of us in our 70s, 80s, and 90s will still be talking about the wonderful times we had with it providing the dementia hasn't ravaged our brains. No other game can compete. Keep that in mind when you read what is written below because for this Destructoid Discusses question of the week, I wanted to know what the staff thought was the best game for the N64. Well, second best, because you know... GoldenEye.
