News::EVE Online: Odyssey has a ton of awesome features

Holy crap, EVE is getting some changes. There's new ships, re-balanced old ships, ice overhauled ice mining, exploration is nothing like it used to be, you can find relics in space, two characters can train at once, and lots of small changes will make playing EVE more enjoyable.

A new developer diary from CCP shows off all of the sweet new features. It looks amazing, and I am really looking forward to being able to play with all of this cool new stuff. For a game that is ten years old, this many changes is an outstanding feat. EVE is the strongest it has ever been, and it looks like the game is only going to keep getting better.

News::The Night of the Rabbit Review | CheatCC

CCC says: "The adventure genre has seen a resurgence in the mainstream gaming world thanks to 2012s The Walking Dead and 2013s The Cave. Yet, while those games can certainly be classified as adventure games, they tend to stray away from the classic point-and-click formula. The Night of the Rabbit, on the other hand, is a tried-and-true adventure, complete with a wondrous world, puzzle solving, and, well, adventure."

Final Fantasy IV is often lauded among long-time fans of the seminal role-playing series as one of the best, and when Square Enix released the 2008 DS remaster, it was generally well-received. Today, the company launched an Android version of the 2008 release.

Overall, Remember Me is frustrating. Its something new and fresh, yet something old and done-before. News::$50 credit with PS Vita purchases at Amazon and Best Buy

Best Buy and Amazon are both currently offering $50 credit when you purchase a PlayStation Vita. The standard $249.99 Wi-Fi model is applicable, of course, as is the $299.99 PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection bundle. The latter option would be a good way to dive right into the system's existing library. Hmm.

There's a bit of a risk going for this deal without knowing what Sony may or may not announce at E3, but I suppose there's always a risk when it comes to buying these devices.

News::Path of Exile update adds two new “leagues”

Developers Grinding Gear Games will be adding two new difficulty settings, or “leagues,” to its action-RPG Path of Exile. The Anarchy and Onslaught leagues will be made available for four months, in addition to the already existing Normal and Hardcore modes.

Anarchy features corrupted NPCs that share all the same abilities and items that player-controlled characters have access to. As players walk around the world, the new foes will attack them with many of the same skills they’ve come to use themselves. Once killed, the enemy exiles will drop high-quality gear.

Onslaught is essentially a more difficult Hardcore mode, with more powerful creatures and permanent death. It does not include the enemy exiles from Anarchy.

Both modes feature a new set of gear that is not available in Normal or Hardcore modes, but can be transferred over once the two leagues’ time is up.

Along with the pair of new leagues, there will also be a slew of new items added, a “substantial” reworking of the game’s balance, and a free respec for all characters to respond to those tweaks.

Read the full list of changes on the official Path of Exile forum.

News::Saturday Crapshoot: Blood

PC Gamer - Occasionally, old games resurface for a new era. At the moment, its Shadow Warriors turn. The original game is now free on Steam, with a reimagined version coming in a few months time. Ive already done it though, so this week I thought wed take a look at its undead sister game one that will probably never see a similar treatment no matter how much fans demand it, simply because its one of those games whose rights issues have firmly turned out to be wrongs. Its an interesting game though; like Shadow Warrior, a shooter that managed to do a lot with very little, without the painful comedy racism.

News::Multiplayer- Remember Me Review

MP:Remember Me, Adrift in origin, is the first project of young French house Dontnod, studio that welcomes developers from Ubisoft, Criterion Studios and Quantic Dream. Born in 2008, the game has undergone an extremely troubled gestation, almost to risk the cancellation, finding new life (and funds) thanks to Capcom, who has decided to produce and distribute. Set in a futuristic Paris, the title embraces the full cyberpunk with a premise is not original, but always intriguing, that the manipulation of memories, and in doing so uses a female protagonist of rare charm, ironically a major source of headaches for programmers . The surprises do not end there.

News::Nice timing! Lionhead brings out new Fable forums

Are you ready for another installment of Fable? Lionhead Studios has decided that the week before E3 is a good time to launch new Fable forums, which I'm sure it is. But the end result is speculation that this is a sign of an impending game announcement.

News::Free-to-play Plants vs. Zombies 2 launches July 18

In addition to dating Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time for July 18, 2013 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, PopCap has shared a few details about the long-awaited sequel. These are the platforms "at launch," with presumably many more versions to follow at a later date.

Crazy Dave has returned, clearly, and it seems as if he's going back in time. Great premise! PopCap says to expect new touch-screen power-ups that "break the fourth wall," allowing you to directly interact with on-screen zombies, for example. According to the studio, "the vast majority of the game will be entirely free to play (players can face every zombie and access every level in every world at no cost), Plants vs. Zombies 2 players will also be able to purchase upgrades and other in-game items."

Love the trailer, but the free-to-play aspect, not so much. That said, if I'm going to put up with that model for any game, it's damn well going to be something on the level of Plants vs. Zombies.

Splitkick: Sacred Citadel ends up being a short footnote in the 2013 gaming landscape. It offers a decently crafted experience that unfortunately lacks anything of true interest to engage players for more than a playthrough. Again, while there is nothing technically wrong with the game, it feels uninspired and by-the-numbers which is a shame coming from the folks at Southend Interactive who made a title as inspired as Ilomilo. Sacred Citadel could be a budget purchase for a one night couch co-op session, but dont expect much more than that from it.

News::Grid 2 IndyCar hands-on gameplay videos

VVV: "Grid 2 prides itself on its sheer variety of racing disciplines, offering everything from touring cars and European hot hatchbacks, to Japanese drifters and US muscle cars. And yet, strangely, there's a distinct lack of open wheel racing cars in comparison to the original Grid, which featured Formula Fords among others that were terrific fun to tame. And now we're starting to see why. That is of course with the exception of the IndyCar pack, but Codemasters choose to restrict it as a pre-order bonus and post-release DLC. Keen to see how open wheel cars handle in Grid 2, Alan put in some laps in the IndyCar at Brands Hatch. Despite all of the negativity, those who didnt play the original title would be wise to plump for Dark Arisen; Dragons Dogma remains a wonderful game doubly so at this bargain price point and it is certainly the definitive version of the title for now. For those who did play it though, theres very little to recommend buying all over again what little new content there is only serves to draw the spotlight back on to the games weakest areas rather than the strongest, and whilst some performance and UI tweaks are welcome, they dont even begin to touch on the bigger issues the game still bears, and they are certainly of no recompense for the much more immediately obvious squandering of potential.

News::Grid 2 - Review - Tech Digest

"Though steering is weighty and measured, the emphasis on drifting and the ability to rewind time a limited number of times following particularly nasty crashes give Grid 2, like its predecessor, a more playful tone than the likes of Gran Turismo or even its TOCA forefathers. There's no scalable handling assist option here either, meaning you've to persevere and learn the quirks of Grid 2's driving systems in order to succeed. While it arguably denies Grid 2 a unique feel, being a sort of mash-up of some of the best bits of recent driving titles, it's undeniably good fun throughout, giving all races a thrilling sense of speed and danger."
