Jason Voorhees is all about chasing his victims down and ensuring they meet grisly deaths. It's good to see him keeping true to form in Friday the 13th: The Game, which we're finally able to look at some decent gameplay for.

News::Everything we saw at Ubisoft's E3 event

Ubisoft's annual bit-too-weird E3 event went as scheduled, with acid-colored dance routines, weird ironic (?) Ubisoft creatives in comedy skits I didn't quite understand, oh, and a bunch of games. That included closer looks at Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, as well as some virtual Star Trek and a sneak peak behind the scenes of Fassassin's Creed. Let's take a look.

News::'Detroit: Become Human' is all about the decisions you make

The team that brought you Heavy Rain is back with the choose-your-own-adventure game Detroit: Become Human. During gameplay footage shown at Sony's E3 press conference, we saw an android detective faced with a myriad of decisions that need to be made to free a child hostage. Each choice created an entirely new scenario which should make for interesting gameplay. The demo also showed our robot cop solving crimes and dealing with the consequences of all its decisions.

News::Resident Evil 7 will be fully playable in PlayStation VR

If you ever played P.T., the playable teaser for the now defunct Silent Hills -- you know exactly how terrifying atmospheric gameplay can be. A dimly rit room can create a sense of claustrophobia. Otherworldly sounds can put you on edge. Now, put that carefully constructed horror world into VR, and you've got Resident Evil 7 -- the scariest looking game to come out of E3 so far.

News::'Crash Bandicoot' is back

Sony knows that what the people want: nostalgia. Last year we got Shenmue and Final Fantasy VII. This year, we've got three Crash Bandicoot remasters for PlayStation 4. The original game, its sequel, and Warped are all being given the HD treatment, and words cannot describe how excited people are at Sony's event right now. It's not quite the all-new Crash Bandicoot we were all hoping for after the game made an appearance in Uncharted 4, but it's bound to sell like crazy anyway.

News::PlayStation VR launches on October 13th

We knew PlayStation VR was releasing in October already, but now we know exactly when: October 13th -- at least in North America. The headset will cost $400, but that doesn't include the PlayStation Camera, which retails at $60, or Move controllers (you can just use your DualShock, which is also motion-tracked via its lightbar if you have a Camera). Sony has promised 50 games will support the system by the end of the year.

News::Batman is coming to PlayStation VR this October

Within the midst of a bunch premium VR offerings set to come to PlayStation's incoming headset, here's a new one: Batman: Arkham VR. While the tease didn't let much out of the bag, the Joker is involved, and made some clever allusions to wearing a mask and questioning what's real when you never take it off. (Note: VR headsets aren't that cosy -- it shouldn't be an issue.) Expect to hear more before October.

News::'The Last Guardian' finally arrives on October 25th

At last, that pesky bird rodent is almost ready to roam. The long-awaited, long in-development, The Last Guardian will hit PS4 on October 25th. News::'God of War' is coming to PS4

Kratos is back -- and he brought his axe. Sony kicked off its E3 2016 press conference with a familiar face, as we're finally getting a new God of War game on PS4. Moving on from last year's God of War III remake, Sony has a new game that looks bigger in scale than anything we've seen before, which is saying something for this series. Kratos took on a giant and just before the end of the stage we saw...a dragon? Check after the break to watch the nearly 10-minute gameplay trailer yourself, just don't expect any details like a release date just yet.

News::Watch Sony's E3 press conference right here

It's hard to imagine Sony topping its E3 press conference from last year. Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian and a remake of Final Fantasy VII was a pretty jaw-on-the-floor combination. Still, this year could be a doozy too. We're nearing the launch of the PlayStation VR, so a few extra game announcements wouldn't go amiss. Throw in a new God of War and some fresh footage from Gran Turismo Sport, Dreams and Horizon Zero Dawn -- that's a packed show already. Adapting classic gaming franchises to VR seems to be a theme at E3 this year. Fallout is getting a VR experience. So is Doom. So, what nostalgic game series is next? Serious Sam, of course. News::Ubisoft is still making a 'Watch Dogs' movie

Ubisoft has decided that all of its major video game franchises should be turned into movies. Following Assassin's Creed and The Division, the publisher has reiterated (almost three years after its original announcement) that Watch Dogs will be getting a big screen adaptation. There's no word on when it'll be coming out though. The upcoming Watch Dogs 2 game has a wildly different tone to its predecessor, removing the unlikeable Aiden Pearce in favor of a more youthful hero. The trailers so far have been hilarious, in a borderline cringeworthy way -- if the film is based on the new game, hopefully the writing can strike a better tone.

News::'Star Trek Bridge Crew' puts you inside a VR starship this fall

While the news leaked before Ubisoft's big E3 showcase, the games company brought together several Star Trek alumni (from all over the series) to play-test its debut VR title Star Trek Bridge Crew, which will be coming to Oculus, Vive and PS VR systems this fall. (Alas, no concrete date just yet.) The game involves collaborating with other players to ensure your starship runs smoothly and fight off enemies or simply escape from them. According to the teaser, a captain and tactical and engineering players will all work together, communicating what each person has to do, which looks like it could descend into cries of "Maximum warp!" and "Shields up!" -- but if LeVar Burton is in the room, then, heck, why not? Take a closer look after the break.

News::'Ghost Recon: Wildlands' goes after the cartel on March 7th

Ghost Recon: Wildlands made its first appearance at Ubisoft's showcase last year, but now we get to see it in action in a new sumptuous gameplay trailer. The terrain is particularly beautiful, and as we heard last year, vehicles are a major part of traversing it all. In the (seemingly edited together) demo, GRW seems to involve an almost constant stream of bro-talk from your fellow soldiers, but it at least offers an audio-based way of keeping you up to date with your teams progress. The attack on the Bolivian-based cartel starts on March 7th next year, on PS4, PC and Xbox One.

News::Everything we saw at Microsoft's E3 event

Microsoft's E3 press conference is over, and we got a lot of news. There are two new Xboxes: a slimmer Xbox One S with 4K video support due out this August, and Project Scorpio, an Xbox with 4K gaming and VR support due out next year. Confusing much? Elsewhere, we got hefty chunks of gameplay from Recore, Sea of Thieves and Scalebound, pretty trailers for Forza Horizon 3 and Halo Wars 2, and zombie fun in the form of Dead Rising 4 and State of Decay 2. While we (literally) recharge our batteries before Ubisoft and Sony's shows, you can watch trailers for all the big announcements in the gallery below.

News::'Superhot VR' brings time-bending shootouts to Oculus Rift

Superhot, the first-person shooter that slows down time whenever you're not moving, is coming to the Oculus Rift. The studio behind the game teased as much last month, but now we've got a trailer showing off how it plays. The biggest addition is the ability to dual-wield -- two fists, two firearms or one of each, depending on your situation. You'll be able to aim, fire and throw punches with the Oculus Touch controllers (which still aren't out) while dodging bullets Matrix-style with the Rift headset.

Superhot's creators say the new game "isn't some port" but a "reimagined and redesigned" game built for VR. It'll launch sometime later this year -- there's no word on pricing or whether it'll come to other VR platforms in the future, such as the HTC Vive or PlayStation VR. If you're curious, you can play the original Superhot on PC, Mac, Linux or Xbox One right now.

After surprising us with the $200 VR-ready Radeon RX 480 at Computex, AMD has rounded out its new GPU lineup at E3. The Radeon RX 470 will offer "power-efficient HD gaming," which means it's targeted at people who just need things to run smoothly at 1080p. And at the low-end, there's the Radeon RX 460, which is meant for less demanding esports titles. AMD is basically just teasing the cards at E3, so there aren't any pricing or availability details yet. But given the RX 480 is starting at $200, I'd imagine they'd come in significantly less.

New stuff like the Mantis mechs from Halo 4 and Halo 5 look to be controllable units, with a heavy emphasis on battling the ape-like Brute enemies. Assassin's Creed might have taken the year off (well, there's a movie if you want to get technical) but Ubisoft still has plenty to show at E3 this year. Hacker adventure Watch Dogs 2 will no doubt be the centerpiece, expanding on its reveal from last week. We're also expecting some details about South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a follow-up to the well-received Stick of Truth from 2014. News::Dragon romp 'Scalebound' offers huge co-op boss battles

Dragons? Check. A spiky-haired hero with attitude rivalling Dante from Devil May Cry? Check. Okay, so we must be talking about Scalebound. The action-RPG was originally slated to come out this fall, however in January developer PlatinumGames announced it had been pushed back to 2017. Today, Microsoft showed off the game's little talked about co-op mode, which allows you and a few friends to fight side by side. It starts with the hero discovering an enormous crab-like creature, before watching his companions materialize with their personal dragons. The group attacks with some ranged weaponry before switching to their winged companions, finally finishing up with some stylish melee combos. It's pretty epic.

News::Gwent from 'Witcher 3' is now its own digital card game

If you're a fan of the Witcher series, you've probably heard of Gwent. The collectible card game is an optional part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, tasking players with collecting cards and ultimately dominating their opponent on the tabletop "battlefield." Now, as expected, the game-within-a-game is being turned into a game of its own (try saying that three times fast.) It'll launch as a closed beta on Xbox One and PC this September, before coming to PlayStation 4 later on. Similar to Hearthstone, it'll be a free-to-play title with optional in-game purchases. Taking a page from The Elder Scrolls: Legends, however, developer CD Projekt Red is also working on a "fully featured single player adventure" for the game.
