The team that brought you Heavy Rain is back with the choose-your-own-adventure game Detroit: Become Human. During gameplay footage shown at Sony's E3 press conference, we saw an android detective faced with a myriad of decisions that need to be made to free a child hostage. Each choice created an entirely new scenario which should make for interesting gameplay. The demo also showed our robot cop solving crimes and dealing with the consequences of all its decisions.
If you ever played P.T., the playable teaser for the now defunct Silent Hills -- you know exactly how terrifying atmospheric gameplay can be. A dimly rit room can create a sense of claustrophobia. Otherworldly sounds can put you on edge. Now, put that carefully constructed horror world into VR, and you've got Resident Evil 7 -- the scariest looking game to come out of E3 so far.
Sony knows that what the people want: nostalgia. Last year we got Shenmue and Final Fantasy VII. This year, we've got three Crash Bandicoot remasters for PlayStation 4. The original game, its sequel, and Warped are all being given the HD treatment, and words cannot describe how excited people are at Sony's event right now. It's not quite the all-new Crash Bandicoot we were all hoping for after the game made an appearance in Uncharted 4, but it's bound to sell like crazy anyway.

We knew PlayStation VR was releasing in October already, but now we know exactly when: October 13th -- at least in North America. The headset will cost $400, but that doesn't include the PlayStation Camera, which retails at $60, or Move controllers (you can just use your DualShock, which is also motion-tracked via its lightbar if you have a Camera). Sony has promised 50 games will support the system by the end of the year.

Kratos is back -- and he brought his axe. Sony kicked off its E3 2016 press conference with a familiar face, as we're finally getting a new God of War game on PS4. Moving on from last year's God of War III remake, Sony has a new game that looks bigger in scale than anything we've seen before, which is saying something for this series. Kratos took on a giant and just before the end of the stage we saw...a dragon? Check after the break to watch the nearly 10-minute gameplay trailer yourself, just don't expect any details like a release date just yet.

While their deal with League of Legends may have been a pipe dream, ESPN is expanding their eSports coverage to something a little closer to the roots of the "Worldwide Leader in Sports." On June 14th from 6–7:30 PM ET, ESPN2 will televise live coverage of EA's Madden NFL 16 Championship series for the first time ever.
It's hard to imagine Sony topping its E3 press conference from last year. Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian and a remake of Final Fantasy VII was a pretty jaw-on-the-floor combination. Still, this year could be a doozy too. We're nearing the launch of the PlayStation VR, so a few extra game announcements wouldn't go amiss. Throw in a new God of War and some fresh footage from Gran Turismo Sport, Dreams and Horizon Zero Dawn -- that's a packed show already. To keep up with the madness, you can watch Sony's livestream right here (there's also an audience camera feed for the full you-are-there- feeling) and follow along with the Engadget liveblog.

Ubisoft has decided that all of its major video game franchises should be turned into movies. Following Assassin's Creed and The Division, the publisher has reiterated (almost three years after its original announcement) that Watch Dogs will be getting a big screen adaptation. There's no word on when it'll be coming out though. The upcoming Watch Dogs 2 game has a wildly different tone to its predecessor, removing the unlikeable Aiden Pearce in favor of a more youthful hero. The trailers so far have been hilarious, in a borderline cringeworthy way -- if the film is based on the new game, hopefully the writing can strike a better tone.
Were you worried that Oculus' Touch controller would arrive without any games that used it? If you ask Oculus, there's no reason to worry. It's promising that over 30 Oculus Rift games will use the VR peripheral in 2016. Some of them are titles you'll know, like Rock Band VR and Serious Sam VR, while others are Touch-ready versions of existing VR experiences like Job Simulator and The Climb. Oculus itself will bundle a sculpting title, Oculus Medium.

As is the case with many Microsoft announcements, the new Xbox One S console leaked before the company had the chance to confirm it at its E3 keynote. Now that it's official, we know that it will come with 4K and HDR support, a 2TB hard drive and front-facing USB port for that rarely-used Kinect accessory (if you buy an adaptor). Oh, and it's 40 percent smaller than its predecessor and has an integrated power supply, ditching that clumsy power brick. But how much will it cost?
Superhot, the first-person shooter that slows down time whenever you're not moving, is coming to the Oculus Rift. The studio behind the game teased as much last month, but now we've got a trailer showing off how it plays. The biggest addition is the ability to dual-wield -- two fists, two firearms or one of each, depending on your situation. You'll be able to aim, fire and throw punches with the Oculus Touch controllers (which still aren't out) while dodging bullets Matrix-style with the Rift headset.
Superhot's creators say the new game "isn't some port" but a "reimagined and redesigned" game built for VR. It'll launch sometime later this year -- there's no word on pricing or whether it'll come to other VR platforms in the future, such as the HTC Vive or PlayStation VR. If you're curious, you can play the original Superhot on PC, Mac, Linux or Xbox One right now.
If Halo 5: Guardians disappointed you last year, maybe try Halo Wars 2 on for size on February 21st next year. It takes the shooter series back to its strategy roots, something that's been toyed with a bit before. New stuff like the Mantis mechs from Halo 4 and Halo 5 look to be controllable units, with a heavy emphasis on battling the ape-like Brute enemies. It continues the story of the original game's Spirit of Fire crew and has you battling those enemies on The Ark, a location from Halo 3.
Assassin's Creed might have taken the year off (well, there's a movie if you want to get technical) but Ubisoft still has plenty to show at E3 this year. Hacker adventure Watch Dogs 2 will no doubt be the centerpiece, expanding on its reveal from last week. We're also expecting some details about South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a follow-up to the well-received Stick of Truth from 2014. Other probables include the historic brawler For Honor, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands and some DLC for The Division. If any of those pique your curiosity, you can watch Ubisoft's livestream right here -- fingers crossed there won't be any laser tag.
Dragons? Check. A spiky-haired hero with attitude rivalling Dante from Devil May Cry? Check. Okay, so we must be talking about Scalebound. The action-RPG was originally slated to come out this fall, however in January developer PlatinumGames announced it had been pushed back to 2017. Today, Microsoft showed off the game's little talked about co-op mode, which allows you and a few friends to fight side by side. It starts with the hero discovering an enormous crab-like creature, before watching his companions materialize with their personal dragons. The group attacks with some ranged weaponry before switching to their winged companions, finally finishing up with some stylish melee combos. It's pretty epic.

After selling an incredible 100 million copies (and counting), the world of Minecraft continues to grow today with new functionality and features. Announced today at E3, the new "Friendly Update" will allow Minecraft players on Windows 10, iOS and Android (including the Gear VR edition) to play together online in the same persistent Realms, no matter on what device they've been created.

Love your Xbox One gamepad, but wish it was a little more ...festive looking? Microsoft is listening. Today at E3, the company announced the Xbox Design Lab -- basically, an online store that lets you customize the color of just about every part of the console's iconic gamepad.
Just in time for its big E3 event, Microsoft has revealed a new Xbox One Smartglass app for iOS and Android. Actually, let's call it what it is -- now simply the Xbox app -- because the company done a major rebranding of the apps and dropped all the rest. The other big change is the look, as Microsoft has brought Android and iOS in line with its Windows 10 apps for PCs and handheld devices.

If you're a fan of the Witcher series, you've probably heard of Gwent. The collectible card game is an optional part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, tasking players with collecting cards and ultimately dominating their opponent on the tabletop "battlefield." Now, as expected, the game-within-a-game is being turned into a game of its own (try saying that three times fast.) It'll launch as a closed beta on Xbox One and PC this September, before coming to PlayStation 4 later on. Similar to Hearthstone, it'll be a free-to-play title with optional in-game purchases. Taking a page from The Elder Scrolls: Legends, however, developer CD Projekt Red is also working on a "fully featured single player adventure" for the game.

ReCore's debut trailer, a surprise at last year's E3, both charmed and intrigued us: That robot dog was cute! And how do the orbs, which appear to be swappable between machines, work? Details have been scarce since then, but at today's Xbox keynote in Los Angeles we got another look at this new game from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune, as well as a release date of September 18.
Microsoft's been talking about bridging the gap between it's PC and console gamers for awhile now -- and at E3 today, it announced just how it's going to do it. Xbox Play Anywhere: a new cross buy program that automatically gives you the PC version a game when you buy it on Xbox... or the Xbox version when you buy it on PC. The first game to take advantage of the program? Gears of War 4, of course -- and yes, Xbox One and PC players will be able to play together online.
Do you have your best shocked face ready? Microsoft just announced a slimmer Xbox One, the Xbox One S. Okay, so the surprise was kinda ruined by a month of leaks, culminating in a picture of the thing finding its way into the wild yesterday morning. But at least now it's official, we know exactly why you Microsoft thinks you should buy a new Xbox.

Now that EA and Bethesda have wrapped up their E3 press conferences, we can turn our attention to one of the big console makers: Microsoft. The company's Xbox showcase is due to kick off at 9:30am PT (12:30pm ET/ 5:30pm BST), and you can watch the livestream right here. We'll probably get an announcement for the new, slimmer Xbox One S, as well as trailers for a whole bunch of games including ReCore and Halo Wars 2. So take a seat and load up the Engadget liveblog, because this is an event that could throw up a few surprises too. (Is it time for a new Battletoads game?!)
Bethesda's big E3 show is over, and it was pretty great. We got a new Quake, lots of Fallout goodness (including Fallout 4 in VR!), a first look at the upcoming Prey reboot and a ton of detail on Dishonored 2. Oh... and a Skyrim remaster.
While our very own Tim Seppala and Jessica Condit run like excited children towards that Fallout VR demo, you can check out all of the trailers from the press conference below.
