News::Is Tomb Raiders performance trouble the herald of things to come for Nvidias gamers?

PCG:AMD arent going to have to lift a finger, or spend a single dollar of their marketing budget, encouraging devs to code for their hardware anymore. Those developers are simply going to have to if they want to code for a next-gen platform. Meanwhile, Nvidia will have to spend a lot more cash, and parachute a lot more engineers into dev studios, to make sure these games are going to work well on their hardware.

News::The Many Ways We Didnt Get To Play SimCity This Week

Kotaku - Looking back on this week's SimCity launch debacle, it isn't just remarkable that the game's servers failed, it's remarkable how many different ways they failed. The spectre of Diablo III has loomed over this entire affair, as Blizzard's action-RPG is certainly the easiest point of reference for an always-online PC game that fell on its face upon launch. There is one major difference, however. Diablo III failed in one easily identifiable way: Error 37.

News::Tomb Raiders PC Version Is Good, Despite A Few Stray Hairs

Kotaku - After about seven hours with Tomb Raider, I'm on board with Evan's endorsement. It's a very good game, and a strong example of the whole "game that's like a movie" thing that Uncharted laid out a few years back. But what of the PC version? I've been putting it through its paces, and can happily report that it's a strong port, albeit with some stray rough edges that will hopefully be ironed out in the near future. The PC port was handled by Nixxes, the same people responsible for the great PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Sleeping Dogs, among others. Like those games, the PC version of Tomb Raider comes with all manner of expected PC customization options, and it runs well.

News::Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Shouldn't be an Assassin's Creed Game

Whether you were a true fan of Assassins Creed III and the direction it took the story, there is no denying that the heart and soul of Assassins Creed is dead with Desmond as the lead character. We have seen what there is to see from Desmonds world and while it was a fun ride, it also became a bit overplayed. I have played every game in the series and enjoyed it immensely, but even those who share the same boat as I, can not deny that you, too, released a sigh of relief knowing that this was the end. Since the launch of the original game in 2007, we have seen a yearly release from the series which have all presented something exciting and fun, there is 5 titles in a series following the same story line which shows to be a little long-winded throughout. There comes a point where enough is enough. People can remember the Halloween movies, many thought that after III or IV it was enough, but because the name was recognizable they continued to milk the cash cow until it was shrivele...

News::Three Signs of an Abusive Minecraft Friendship

Gi - Minecraft, the game championed worldwide as Legos for grown-ups. An endless sandbox of worlds to create, skins to download, and pigs to ride. Affinity runs deep amongst Minecraft aficionados who wow with their sheer brilliance (Im looking at you, Circleight) and the more amateur novices, like myself, who feel successful if they kill a spider without being poisoned. Mojangs created a platform that fosters creativity and collaboration and teaches careful planning and patience to even the most antsy of gamers. However, in life, theres always a flipside, and there is a dark blotch that sometimes stains the beautiful block world. A vile speck hidden in the floor or wall: TNT.

Digital Chumps: "Nazi Zombie Army commits perhaps an even greater sin in the video game universe: its pretty boring. The would-be fun starts--after a cutscene of Das Fuhrer enacting 'Plan Z'--by dropping the (assumed American) soldier behind enemy lines, somewhere near Berlin. From the article, "SimCity is a level 5 disaster. Demand has overtaxed servers, keeping people from playing and causing multiple errors. Fans are displeased with the smaller city sizes, focus on region development and inability to make a megalopolis. There are a lot of hurt feelings, and you can't blame the gamers who are upset. They just spent $59.99 on a broken game, they have a right to be mad. EA's attempting to make things better by adding more servers and now by offering people a free game. News::Sim City Debacle Raises Health of PC Questions for Future; Could Affect Industry as a Whole

"If those people that waited in lines at Midnight, woke up and stopped at their local game store at open, or took the day off of work because their favorite game series has its first launch since 2007, are forced to wait to play their game, there is something drastically wrong. I stopped in on the same launch day as Sim City, to Gamestop and picked up my copy of Tomb Raider and was able to enjoy it on my Xbox 360 at the time I got home. I had the right to play a game that I legally obtained, with my money, when I chose to. No one was telling me that I couldnt. Sim City fans were obviously not as lucky. They were not able to play a game that they, too had received a legal copy of, and because of the launching companies, Electronic Arts and Maxis, need to protect what money they make; consumers were the ones that suffered.
