News::To Leave expresses the emotional heartache of aspiration | GamesBeat

GamesBeat: Expression through system rules and gameplay is video games most powerful and unique attribute in the world of art. Freaky Creations seems to fully understand this. It uses play design to portray the sort of despair and depression we feel when life throws us off course and were desperate for positive reinforcements.

News::Absurdly tough I Wanna Be The Boshy looks effortless in this speedrun

Here's speedrunner witwix playing I Wanna Be The Boshy -- a precision platformer meant for so-called "humans" who find I Wanna Be The Guy , one of the most challenging games ever devised, too easy -- for the charity marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2015.

He pledged to donate $10 to the Prevent Cancer Foundation every time he died in this hour-long, 100% run of a maniacal game that requires pixel-perfect jumps and a hell of a lot of patience.

Here I am, 32 minutes in, terrified for witwix's bank account despite his mastery. Simply captivating.

News::Bit.Trip studio Choice Provisions teaming up with Intel for skeleton astronaut game Laserlife

Choice Provisions has been teasing Laserlife since the studio was called Gaijin Games. Back in 2010, Jonathan Holmes talked to Alex Neuse about the idea, but the trail went dark for a few years after that. Last year when the studio changed its name, it mentioned that the game was still in development. Today, we have something more concrete: Laserlife will release on PC this year, with "additional platforms" following.

Given that it was an idea based on gesture control, it makes real sense that Intel is backing the project for use with its RealSense technology, which is Intel's response to Microsoft's Kinect. Intel seems to be pushing RealSense for gaming, having recently taken on There Came an Echo , another title set for a 2015 release.

The teaser above shows off a more developed art style than we had seen previously, but if you want to get a better idea for how it might play, the old teaser is more informative. Both feature floating skeleton astronauts, but the old one also has atoms and lasers too.

News::First screens of Tales of Tales' Sunset look groovy

When we last talked about Sunset , it was just beginning its Kickstarter campaign and its fate was unclear. It ended up gathering more than twice its base goal, and developer Tales of Tales started work on it, releasing a teaser trailer the following month.

Sunset is billed as a narrative-focused game with decisions that impact the story. While that may sound like something we hear a lot from games whose decisions don't actually have much overall impact, the bit that has me hopeful that Sunset will deliver is its playtime. It is planned to run anywhere between one and a half to six hours. If protagonist Angela just goes about her cleaning business, things will presumably be short. If she skulks, snoops, and gets involved, then different events will occur.

Anyway, the first batch of Sunset screenshots are now available, and they exude a distinctly 1970s feel. Must be all the brown. And the wavy furniture. Check them out below.

News::Well, crap: Witcher 3 PC requirements released

For some reason, I assumed I'd be able to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC and have it look and run alright, but these newly-released system specifications suggest otherwise.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz

  • AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940

  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660

  • AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870

  • RAM 6GB

  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)

  • DirectX 11

  • HDD Space 40 GB

Recommended System Requirements

  • Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3.4 GHz

  • AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz

  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770

  • AMD GPU Radeon R9 290

  • RAM 8GB

  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)

  • DirectX 11

  • HDD Space 40 GB

There's time to upgrade, at least -- game doesn't release until May 19, 2015. I'm starting to think that getting it on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be my best bet.
