News::The new female Orc for WoW puts the old design to shame

I may not play World of Warcraft but as someone who occasionally writes about it and, as a result, has to find not-terrible-looking images to accompany my words, I'm all for a good character model redesign. Blizzard has shared an in-progress look at the revamped female Orc.

In short, it's a noticeable step forward. The second and especially third image, embedded below, really bring home the before-and-after effect of the face.

"When we first discussed the direction for this character, I think we all agreed right off the bat that we wanted to focus on her 'warrior' side a little more," wrote senior art director Chris Robinson. "That means moving away from the more doe-eyed version we know now toward a character you would expect to see fighting on the front lines alongside any of her Horde brothers and sisters."

News::You can bet real money on Super Street Fighter IV

Even with no money on the line, I get way too stressed out playing competitive multiplayer games. My emotions run wild. I cannot fathom participating in money matches, though the appeal isn't lost on me. Capcom has partnered with Virgin Gaming to allow Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition players on PS3 and Xbox 360 over the age of 18 to bet on head-to-head matches. Previous supported titles have been sports games -- FIFA, Madden, and the like.

Now, the betting process doesn't seem much more complicated than setting up a private session like you would normally and then taking a picture of the results and uploading it to the site, but there are measures in place for regional matchmaking and skill ratings. The main thing you're getting from Virgin Gaming, I suppose, is peace of mind. Kind of neat.

Given the choice, I'd rather bet on someone else's abilities and not my own. That'd make for a nerve-wracking EVO, wouldn't it? More so than usual, I mean.

Roger at Codec Moments writes: "If you were one of the kids who dumped all of your allowance into arcade machines growing up, then you may remember the joys of games such as Double Dragon. Originally released in 1987, the beat em up coop game was available on arcades as well as home consoles and was a critical success. In 2012 Wayforward created Double Dragon Neon to serve as a reboot to the franchise. While having mixed reviews upon its release on consoles, the game was brought to Windows in early 2014. The game is the same as the console version, though one major asset that is here this time around is the inclusion of online co-op. But is the new feature enough to warrant a purchase if you already own the game on your platform of choice?"

News::Let's take a look at some of the new Halo toys

New York Toy Fair took place last week, and the official Halo Twitter showed off some of the upcoming toys we can expect. Highlights include Master Chief wearing the cloak from the Halo 5 teaser, an electronic Mantis with wireless controller, a MegaBloks UNSC Elephant Troop Carrier, and light up Cortana chip keychain.

Then there's the huge looking Kotobukiya Mast Chief statue, 18" scale figure Master Chief, MegaBloks Scarab, and the biggest eye raiser, a McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief.

Wait, a new toy based on Halo 2? Sure, it could just be a new figure based on the old game just because. Or it could be a giant indicator that Halo 2 HD for Xbox One is actually happening (if that rumor is to believed). Giant assumption really, but an assumption based on how toy lines tend to give away that something new is happening within a franchise.

In fact a recent example of such a case was the Transformers toys that were revealed at New York Toy Fair that gave away the new game before it was officially announced. I'm just saying.

News::Kickstarter game Contradiction cast revealed: Doctor Who, Die Another Day stars

The live-action murder mystery adventure Contradiction has revealed their cast of nine, featuring a wealth of talent from both the screen and stage. The successfully funded Kickstarter raised £4,000 (around $6,500) back in January. Its only a small segment of the ~$16,500 budget, which creator Tim Follin said would limit the scope of actors he could hire. Despite this, the game is being graced with some big names with British TV, film and stage. The most notable name on the cast list is Paul Darrow, a senior British actor. Hes most notably known for his portrayal of Kerr Avon in 1978 BBC sci-fi show Blakes 7 we wont blame you if you havent heard it of, but it was big in the UK. Also appearing in Die Another Day and the original Doctor Who, Darrow is cast as the wealthy father of cult leader Ryan Rand, Paul Rand. If hes anything as chilling as John Guilors calculating speech-giver, well be in for a treat.

News::Circuits tests your ear for deconstructing musical pieces

While most music-based games focus on maintaining rhythm or use the sound to generate gameplay elements, Circuits takes a bit of a different approach. Taking on a much slower pace, Circuits tasks players with listening to a musical piece, then reconstructing that piece using a predetermined template and several small chunks of melody and rhythm to place in the template.

Though the video above shows off the minimalist art style that led to its namesake, the video below does a better job explaining how one actually plays Circuits. Through use of keen ears and attention to detail, players can reconstruct a song and watch as it visually unfolds from beginning to end of the circuit.

Circuits will be available on iPad "soon," and is currently up on Steam Greenlight.

Second, since that it is completely niche, it is the type of sim that will be going all out it its respected subject."
