News::Separation anxiety: Xbox One Kinect works at 4.5 feet

I bet a lot of you don't live in San Francisco with its dumb most-expensive-US-city-ness and often tiny housing situations. Maybe you have the recommended six to eight foot cavern to fill between you and the original Kinect. For those of us with smaller, more concentrated voids of emptiness, the Xbox One Kinect promised to be better. Promised us we would not have to move couches or take sledgehammers to our living room walls.

Neogaf user kazebyaka stumbled on an Xbox One installation manual that suggests a recommended minimum distance of 4.5 feet between the One's camera and flailing individuals playing Dance Central (and other games, maybe).

Hardcore Gamer: Nope, no George Zimmerman here. More importantly, this week's episode is filled with delays. No, no the episode itself, silly, but rather the unceremonious delay of both Watch Dogs and Driveclub. News::Gamespot- Bionic Dues Review

GS:Bionic Dues takes place on the eve of a robot invasion, and everywhere signs suggest that the fault for their ascendency lies with us. This is a cruelly mechanical world devoid of natural comforts, from the city map that resembles a circuit board to the cold interface that envelops the entire experience. Aside from some illustrated avatars for mech pilots, it's not clear where the lines between humanity and robotica stand. Therein may lie some of the reason for Arcen's oddball title for this new roguelike, which manages to entertain and challenge despite its underwhelming presentation.

Deception IV is coming in early 2014, but we've yet to see anything substantial in terms of gameplay -- until this brand new trailer, that is. After taking a short trip through the first few games, the video gets right into the action, showing off a hefty amount of gameplay and the available traps, which range from hammers, to bear traps, to good old fashioned spikes.

As you might be able to tell from the giant pumpkin that falls on a few of the foe's heads to obscure their vision, some of the series' trademark dark humor is back. We'll be able to try out Deception IV for ourselves in 2014.

News::Sony CEO Kaz Hirai delivering CES opening keynote

CES isn't until after Christmas. January, in fact. But we seem to be in the habit of preparing for holidays months in advance, so put away your Christmas lights and pull out your CES 4k LEDs because it's late October and Christmas is practically almost over. I know CES counts as a working holiday for Dale, who loves all that crazy tech.

Anyway, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, whom I once passed on an elevator, is kicking off CES 2014 with its opening keynote. Last year was Panasonic's Kazuhiro Tsuga. You probably shouldn't expect any PlayStation news until Sony's actual press conference, but it could be neat to watch. It's also an interesting selection. Console war over, right?

As much as I'm down with the PlayStation brand, Sony isn't quite the innovator in the rest of the tech field is used to be. I'm typing on a Vaio laptop. Their products are perfectly good. We are clearly a ways away from the Walkman days, however.

Let's brainstorm here. What could put Sony right back on the bleeding edge? A smartphone you can implant under your forearm? Shoes with wheels in the heel? A robot that loves? Minority Report-style projection laptops? TVs that black out commercials? Programmable fridge magnets?
