News::Wargame: Airland Battle Review | Gather Your Party

Wargame: Airland Battle is the oddly-named real-time strategy successor to the previous title Wargame: European Escalation released last year by the Paris-based developer Eugen Systems. Does it add enough new gameplay to justify its cost compared to the predecessor? The answer is a resounding yes.

News::Silent Hill: From Best To Worst

CGUK writes: "Since the franchise's inception in late 1999, the Silent Hill franchise has struck gold by serving players with a sweet blend of storyline and gameplay features in order to create an engaging, immersive atmosphere for the player to enjoy. Although similar to its closest competitor of the time, Resident Evil, Silent Hill had an edge over Resident Evil as it an injected an essence of pure fear into a standard adventure game rather than short-lived "jump scares" as was done in Resident Evil. The result? One of gaming's most iconic franchises that has seen multiple follow-ups, spin-offs, comics and even two films which were poorly rated by many reviewers. In true CGUK style we embark on a journey not only to order this franchise from best to worst, but to identify why each game deserves the spot in which it has been placed. We invite you to sit back, turn down the lights and follow us as we trek through one of gaming's scariest franchises! Enjoy."

News::Weekly Digital Roundup: Icing Spark Mandrill

"You know nostalgias got you by the balls when you have this strong urge to purchase Mega Man X on the Wii U eShop even though you already own it in cartridge form. Icing Spark Mandrill with Shotgun Ice on the GamePad is now possible. Aside from the Capcom duo of Ghosts n Goblins and Mega Man X on the eShop (complete with a 50% off sale when you purchase both), Nintendo unleashed a duo of its own with the GBC classics The Legend of Zelda: Oracles of Ages and its companion game, Oracle of Seasons on 3DS. Both are yours for $10 and still allow you to link to each others games via a code system. PSN users can now pre-order The Last of Us (how psyched are you for it?), and Vita Plus subscribers may take satisfaction in knowing that Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extended is free, along with some Soul Sacrifice DLC. Oh, and The Warriors PS2 Classic? Totally worth it." - Patrick Kulikowski

News::Pennyarcade- Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review

PA:It's been an interesting journey trying to convince gamers of the quality of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The previous Call of Juarez games have been uneven, and they have yet to make a sizable dent in the industry one way or the other. They're not quite good enough to rise above the news, but not quite bad enough to be considered total failures.

News::Review - Anomaly 2 (Kaboom Shark)

"Just when you thought there wasnt any way a new video game genre could be created, along came Anomaly: Warzone Earth in 2011 to bring us Tower Offense. Essentially a Tower Defense game played from the opposite side, it cast you as the commander of a military convoy as you led them through dangerous pathways filled with immobile yet vicious alien towers. It was fresh, fun and clever. Now 11 Bit Studios have released a sequel, creatively titled Anomaly 2. It heralds the addition of multiplayer, a first for the series, as well a brand new morphing feature that gives an already awesome concept a dash of Transformers. With virtually no competition in its newly formed genre, Anomaly 2 still has the advantage of uniqueness. In that case, is it an anomaly in a good way or a bad way? Were about to find out." News::The secret origin of Princess Peach

[Dtoid community blogger Voltech just blew my mind. --Mr Andy Dixon]

I know that opinions may vary pretty wildly on the game, but in all honesty, I like PlayStation All-Stars . I like it a lot more than I thought I would, and even months after its release I'll go out of my way to play online (now more than ever thanks to the presence of Emmett "Easy Money" Graves). It'll be interesting to see what comes next for the game, both in terms of new characters and in terms of a sequel that can improve on what we have already.

Still, if there's one thing I lament -- coming from someone who's spent years playing the Smash Bros. games -- it's the absence of a lot of true all-stars. Chief among them, Princess Peach. My brother swears up and down that she's overpowered/broken, but even if that was the case (and I suspect not, given her tier list placing), I still like her beyond just giving me a good shot at victory. There's just something refreshing -- or maybe "hilarious" is more like it -- about being able to fling around gorillas and smack evil warlords in the face with a tennis racket. She's THE videogame princess, and brings along with her an air of daintiness and goodness; she's like a breath of fresh air, in the sense that she's a respite against the MANLY MAN MEN that a lot of games would have you play as.

Don't get me wrong, there are other female characters that I enjoy playing as or having around (more so than Peach, and by a long shot), but for what it's worth, the pink-clad princess is more than enough to put a smile on my face... maybe because you never know what she'll be doing next.

News::Watch Dogs' mocap aims to capture the litte details

In this behind the scenes trailer for Watch Dogs , Ubisoft Montreal gives us a brief rundown on the happenings in Watch Dogs' motion capture. Combat is obviously a big focus, with Aiden's hand-to-hand movements looking like something out of a Jason Bourne flick.

Also, Aiden can stick his hands in his pockets. The next-generation is truly here.

In all seriousness though, it's nice to see that even these little details aren't being neglected in a game as open as this.

News::Victoria 2: Heart of Darkness Review - Eskimo Press

Heart of Darkness is the second expansion for Victoria II by Paradox Interactive. To give a bit of background information on the base game, Victoria II is a grand-strategy game that allows you to play as any nation in the world for a hundred years starting in 1836 and ending in 1936; military expansion is arguably a minor point of the game as it focuses more on industrialism and the ideas of liberty and nationalism that spread across the world during the time. The main focus of this expansion is colonialism, and it sees a complete overhaul of the colonial system used in the game.

News::Dead Island: Riptide Review | Splitkick

Splitkick: I want to believe that the franchise will realize its potential someday, but certainly not today. Weighed down by a bad story, uneventful gameplay tweaks, and a slew of technical problems, Dead Island: Riptide is a disappointing next step for the franchise. Fans of the first game should hold out for a better sequel, while anyone else with interest in the series should try the first game instead.

News::Dragon Age 3: Inquisition listing spotted on Amazon Italy

In not so surprising news, Amazon Italy went and outed Dragon Age III: Inquisition as an Xbox One release. The posting has since been removed, but it comes just days after Mirror's Edge 2 was outed, twice. It seems retailers are EA's preferred method of leaks.

Dragon Age III was official announced in September of last year and was said to be coming to next-gen systems, even confirmed to be using DICE's Frostbite 3 engine as is the the next Mass Effect project. My fingers are crossed for some proper news at E3, as I (go ahead and call me crazy) enjoyed Dragon Age II quite a bit.

News::Weegee's my homeboy! More New Super Luigi U footage

Luigi propaganda is the kind of propaganda I can stand behind. Down with Big Brother! Green ain't so mean! Weegee is legion! Weegee is many!

Nintendo has uploaded a new trailer for the NSMBU expansion New Super Luigi U, which showcases more levels and gimmicks for Luigi, Bucken-Berry, Ala-Gold, and the invincible Nabbit to power through. Just as a refresher, all 82 of NSMBU's levels have been drastically altered, you now have only 100 seconds to clear a stage, and Luigi can jump higher and slide further than his brother.

The Japanese will get their Luigi U fix on eShop on June 19 and at retail on July 13. Americans can download the game on June 20 or purchase in-store on August 25, while Europeans can download it on June 20 or snag the box on July 26. Remember, the DLC version will require that you own a copy of NSMBU.
