News::One Of EA's Best Games Is Old, But Also Free
Maybe because it's never got a modern remake, maybe it's because you wore a silly red helmet, but EA's Crusader: No Remorse has never got the love and respect it deserves from a 21st century world. Maybe that'll change now that everybody can play the game for free.

News::Fed Up With Steam, Devs Unite To Score Extra Greenlight Votes
Steam Greenlight was originally envisioned as a way for fans to help select which games would make it onto Valve's ridiculously ubiquitous PC gaming storefront. Unfortunately, it's kinda busted sometimes. A group of game creators has decided to take matters into their own hands by gaming the system. Kinda.

News::Star Wars: Battlefront now set for holiday 2015
During an earnings call today, Electronic Arts announced new release windows for a few of its games. Most notably, DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront is now scheduled for holiday 2015.
The game will presumably be out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One before Star Wars Episode VII debuts on December 18, 2015. That "early in-engine footage" from back in June was all right at the time, but jeez, we haven't gotten much of anything since. Need more Battlefront news!
Battlefield Hardline, which was at one point going to arrive this year, has now claimed March 17, 2015 for its launch. And looking further out, the next Battlefield title will release in holiday 2016.
Those may be the official dates, but I suspect many of us won't be picking them up at launch.

News::No more shirtless streams on Twitch
Have you seen a shirtless dude stream videogames before? I have -- multiple times, in fact! -- and I hardly ever follow live streams. Twitch has updated its rules of conduct and while much of it is common sense, broadcasters will want to familiarize themselves with the new rules.
For instance, back to shirtlessness, "Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing -- including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments -- is prohibited, as well as any full nude torsos*, which applies to both male and female broadcasters." *Twitch recommends cropping your bod out of the frame if you must be free while streaming.
Another rule decries self-destructive behavior. "In theory, playing video games is one of the safest activities one can possibly engage in. Don't ruin this by harming yourself physically, drinking excessively or endangering yourself in any way while broadcasting."
No more Mario Party drinking games? I suspect those would be all right, but it's unclear how strict Twitch moderators will be. Not too worried, myself.

News::How A Dark Time-Traveling Fantasy Game Became the Original Fallout
The end of the world was both darker and more humorous than anyone could have imagined, and in the original Fallout, released for the PC in 1997, gamers got to experience the apocalyptic future firsthand. The iconic, "War, war never changes," introduction set the somber mood, which came about, strangely enough, during an episode of The Simpsons. Tim Cain, lead programmer and producer of Fallout, explained over an email interview, "My assistant producer, Fred Hatch, brought me the opening narration lines for the next day's VO session with Ron Perlman. They had just been finalized that day, and Fred thought they weren't very good. I read them and had similar concerns, so," during commercial breaks, "I wrote an alternative opening narration. I thought about how war was a constant in human history and how the weapons of war changed, but the reasons for war and the goals of war did not." He asked Hatch to "record both sets of lines the next day, and we would decide later which one we liked more."
