News::Fix Your Own Consoles (And PC) Like A Boss

News::Bruce Waynes Had Enough Games

The Late Night Gamer: Big news this week. A new Batman game called Arkham Knight was announced. This may sound a little silly, but I have had every Arkham game in my house for months but have yet to play any of them. Im sure that Ill enjoy playing them in a decade or so when I get around to them. The Arkham franchise created a new brand of Batman games and the gaming community loves it. But weve already had three games featuring our favorite billionaire and Id think people are a bit tired of him. I am, and I havent even played the games. When there are so many great characters under the Batman umbrella, its a crime that only old Bruce has gotten the spotlight in his very own game. Its time for someone else to step up and be our new hero.

News::First you giveth then you taketh away - How 2014's Thief stacks up against a classic

Stephen Heller of MMGN: Reboots are often a tricky proposition from the outset. The content creators, no matter the medium, have to reinvent and reinvigorate a wealth of source material, and also be mindful that the existing iteration most likely has thousands, if not millions, of adoring fans whom are skeptical of your every move. That's why I cringed when Eidos Montreal announced that they were rebooting Thief, a franchise that is often cited as the grandfather of the entire stealth genre. While Metal Gear Solid and Tenchu: Stealth Assassin brought the idea of stealth to the spotlight, it was 1999's Thief: The Dark Project that cemented the mechanics that went on to define the genre as a whole.

AusGamers has reviewed The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2: A House Divided and writes: A House Divided is a weaker entry than were used to, but that maybe shouldnt be cause for alarm. The table setting seems to be all in place now for the feast still to come, and even at its most meandering The Walking Dead is still capable of telling an intriguing, frightening story about humanitys worst impulses.

News::Titanfall's call to duty: How Respawn hopes to redefine the multiplayer shooter - MSN NZ

MSN NZ writes: Having "Infinity Ward co-founder" on your resume is a pretty big deal. The developer of arguably the most iconic first-person shooter at least of the past decade in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been at the forefront of the competitive multiplayer scene for a number of years. It's probably a good thing, then, that Electronic Arts has Vince Zampella on its roster. Zampella, having co-founded Infinity Ward with Jason West under the Activision publishing label, left the company under controversial circumstances to found Respawn Entertainment, the developer of the highly anticipated (and oft-regarded "Call of Duty" killer), Titanfall.

News::Thief Review [Capsule Computers]

Andrew Day of Capsule Computers wrote: Many years ago the Thief franchise really kickstarted the whole stealth action genre. Now we have the latest iteration a reboot of the franchise that tries to combine what was so loved about the originals with modern gameplay mechanics. The result is a game that is filled with good ideas but whos overall execution just feels lacking. The highlight of the game are its impressive visuals, but the inconsequential system of choice means that the gameplay is just simple puzzle solving in a pretty setting.

News::Slings and arrows, or: Why Im engaging with a troll

We say to Dont engage, because engaging leads to loss of control. Responding is giving bullies what they want, which is usually to humiliate you. But if the goal of not engaging is to retain some measure of control over when and how we respond to aggravation, then never responding at all to anything is just another form of ceding control. Its allowing terrible things to go unchallenged. Its replacing anger with complacence. Either way, the bullies win.

News::If You Like ____, Try ____

Dimitri Gedevanishvili, GIZORAMA - "The last few generations of games have arguably been the most unique. Any gamer can find something to enjoy within the thousands of fantastic games that have been released. Most games that we play, however, are from the big name teams. That isnt to diminish their quality at all, but a lot of superb games get missed out on due to lack of advertising, exposure, or any number of unfortunate reasons. In this feature, I go into some similar alternatives to already excellent games that you may have missed. I've also thrown down some prices offered by GameStop or Steam."
