News:: GundamInfo uploading full episodes of Gundam ZZ, which claims to be not an anime

GundamInfo is a great YouTube channel for fans of the Gundam franchise. Lately, it's been uploading full seasons of shows, such as Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096, as well as online exclusives, such as Twilight Axis. Recently however, the channel has finished uploading the entirety of the classic Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. It's now moved onto the follow up series, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.

Oh boy, what a show they chose to upload.

News:: River City Ransom: Underground taken off Steam due to DMCA claim

River City Ransom: Underground was removed from Steam yesterday. No reason for the take down was given, and when asked, the game's developers declined comment.

Some digging around twitter revealed a rumor that the game was taken down by composer Alex Mauer, who reportedly worked on some of its music. When asked for comment, Ms. Mauer confirmed that she had issued the DMCA orders, stating 'Conatus [River City Ransom: Underground's developers] never got my written permission to use my music in the game.  As far as I know, they have Disasterpeace's [one of the game's composers] signature and are trying to act like that alone is enough to have secured rights.'

News:: Dragon Ball FighterZ character details coming soon

Speaking today at the EVO Championships, Tomoko Hiroki, who is responsible for producing the upcoming ArcSys game Dragonball FighterZ, announced that, next week, two more characters would be revealed for the hyped anime fighter.

The new characters will be showcased in Japanese publication V Jump, which specialises in manga and manga-related video games. This issue will hit newsstands July 21.

The characters join the game's current roster of Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Perfect Cell, Kid Gohan, Future Trunks and Majin Buu. I only know who the first three are because I'm an old man.

So I'm going to throw this one out to the floor; who would you guys n' gals love to see take these upcoming roster slots?

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year

News:: The world of 'Toy Story' is coming to 'Kingdom Hearts 3'

Kingdom Hearts 3 has been slow in coming, but you'll at least get a reward for your patience. Square Enix took to Disney's D23 stage to announce that the action role-playing game will have our heroes visit the world of Pixar's Toy Story -- yes, you'll be helping Buzz Lightyear and Woody clear the neighborhood of villainous toys. There's even a bit of Titanfall-style action as you jump into plastic robots to do battle. Oh, and did we mention that KH3's release has finally been narrowed down, to 2018? That could still put a release well into the future, but it's a relatively short wait given that fans of the Disney/Square crossover series have already gone more than a decade without a sequel.

News:: The Adaptation: The disasterpiece that was Captain N

[Where were you when it happened? What's "it," you ask? Captain N: The Game Master being on your TV on Saturday mornings, of course! Join jaygerbomb as he takes us through the ups and downs of the series in all of its campy-early-'90s-cartoon glory for this month's Bloggers Wanted prompt. Want to see your work on the Front Page? Write something! - Wes]

A long, long time ago, before the FCC managed to screw up a perfectly good thing, I absolutely lived for Saturday mornings. Why? Because that was the day of a five-hour block of cartoons, followed by two hours of wrestling. And shitloads of toy commercials. It was everything I loved distilled into seven hours, laced with at least two huge bowls of Cocoa Puffs, Cocoa Pebbles, or Lucky Charms (but only marshmallow bits, because who eats that oat shit, amirite?).

News:: Celebrate Splatoon 2's first Splatfest with this phenomenal fan art

[Realistic Off The Hook by @eafrns]

Though the game is still a week out, Splatoon 2's first international Splatfest competition starts today. In fact, the European leg of the battle has already started, while the North American portion of the contest starts today at 3pm PST.

To help celebrate, I thought I'd post some of the more eye catching fan art of the game's two leading ladies for you to review. You may already know Marina from last week's post on her potential racial identifiers (which ended up being a topic of discussion on the Spawn on Me podcast), but this time, Pearl won't be left out. She may seem entitled, selfish, and not at all likable, but gosh darn it, she's still somebodies squid baby, and she deserves a chance just like anyone else.

If you find any more Off The Hook Splatoon 2 fan art, make sure to drop it in the comments!

News:: Sora will become Andy's plaything in Kingdom Hearts III

Last month, Square Enix said it would be showing off a new world in Kingdom Hearts III at this weekend's D23 celebration and it did not disappoint. Amidst all the excitement of your favorite animated films getting remade into live-action movies over the next few years -- and also Tim Burton's Dumbo for some goddamn reason -- Disney let loose a new trailer for KHIII that gave us our first look at the Toy Story world.

News:: Disney's 'Powers United VR' puts you in the boots of a superhero

If it wasn't already clear that Disney is big on wearable gaming, it is now. It just introduced Powers United VR, and it's pretty much what you'd expect if you dreamed up a superhero virtual reality game. You step into the suit of one of multiple legendary Marvel figures (including Captain Marvel, the Hulk, Rocket Raccoon and Ronan the Accuser) and join your friends as you battle villains using your character's unique powers. And in this case, that makes a big difference -- Hulk towers over his enemies and can throw missiles back at his opponents, for instance, while Rocket makes up for his small size with firepower.

News:: Lenovo made an augmented reality headset for 'Star Wars' games

Here's something you probably weren't expecting out of a Disney fan event: a Star Wars augmented reality headset. Lenovo and Lucasfilm have teased headgear that uses your smartphone to bring the space epic into the real world. There's precious little to know about the hardware (not even a release date), but we already know a bit about the games you'll play. Lenovo and Disney are teasing holochess, for a start, but there's also a real-time ground battle game and Jedi Challenges, which will (naturally) have you wielding a lightsaber. In short: you're about to live out a lot of Star Wars fantasies.

News:: Watch Disney's D23 video game event at 4PM Eastern

You probably don't think of a Disney fan expo as a go-to source for video game news, but you might need to reconsider this year. The media giant is livestreaming a Video Game Showcase starting at 4PM Eastern, and it promises better looks at Disney-themed games than you might have had in the past. The event will center around Square-Enix's elusive Kingdom Hearts III, Insomniac's take on Spider-Man and EA's much-hyped Star Wars: Battlefront II -- those first two in particular haven't had much screen time. Whether or not there are any big revelations, you'll have plenty of opportunities to tune in. Hosts Jacksepticeye and Strawburry17 are streaming the event on their respective Twitch and YouTube channels, while Disney itself is offering a live feed through the D23 website as well as its Facebook games page.

News:: You've got character: The Spy

When it comes to competitive multiplayer games, we all have our favorite characters and classes. In this series, I'm putting some of mine under the microscope to see what makes them tick, how they fit into their games, and ultimately why I like them! Check out the previous entries - Kotal KahnReaperLex Luthor, The Hunchback.

Team Fortress 2 is going to be 10 years old in a few months. While this is personally disturbing to me since it casts my mortality and inevitable march towards the grave into stark relief, it is also somewhat intriguing. I can’t think of another ten year old game that I regularly dust off and play.

Counting different platforms and profiles, I’ve played over a thousand hours of TF2. Probably more if I really took the time to tally it all up. My best days are behind me of course, the vast majority of that time was tallied up during those first glorious three or four years after launch. That beautiful period of my life when I’d come home just as the sun was rising, weary from the night shift, yet still willing to capture control points until the sun fell back behind the horizon.

Now, the time I spend with the game comes in fits and starts. Berserk little trysts with the game that come after months and months of dormancy. Much like the profile of a spree killer in a paperback thriller, I periodically come out of retirement to get a taste of the action.

It’s only fitting, then, that my favorite character was, is, and will always remain the stab-happy Spy.

News:: There's a Bumblebee Transformers spinoff ... and 13 more spinoffs

It's no secret that the ancient order of Stone Masons [Flixist editors] are not what some would call loyal apostolates of the Holy Father Michael Bay--may he live forever [please no]-- and his sacrament,The Holy Church of the Explosion. Why, brother Matthew just recently reviewed Transformers: The Last Knight as near a steaming pile of excrement.

Maybe Transformers was fun once, but we're forgetting why we ever thought so. As much as U.S. audiences are demonstrating a remarkable amount of intelligence, and sage film savvy by not turning out in droves at the box office, China just isn't getting their shit together! They're literally lapping their shit up: to the tune of nearly $220M to date

News:: Weekend deals: last chance on $20 AAA's from GameStop summer sale

What's the magic price point to sell your AAA game at? If your answer is $20, GameStop would agree. Right now we're in the last 48 hours of GameStop's Summer "Game Days Sale", of which virtually all its top sellers are going to cost you a Jackson. Most are at historic low prices and are recent releases such as Mass Effect Andromeda, NBA 2K17, WWE 2K17, and more. See our full roundup of the sale here or the top $20 deals listed below for your picks of goodies.

Another sale nearing its end point is the GMG E3 pre-order sale. The sale has taken on various forms as E3's hype died down last month, offering the best pre-order deals on upcoming Fall PC game releases. It officially ends in the wee morning hours of Wednesday, June 19 and features 26% off titles like Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Agents of Mayhem, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Assassin's Creed: Origins, and the newly available XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.

In terms of gaming hardware, this week saw some pretty solid Xbox One S and PlayStation VR headset deals. These were also on sale on Prime Day for paid members, but if you missed out on that Dell has comparable offers this weekend in their "Black Friday in July" sale. The PlayStation VR headset is going for the usual $399.99 and Dell now includes a free PlayStation Camera ($60 value) along with a bonus $30 Gift Card. The Xbox One S Battlefield 1 console bundle is going for $279.99 and includes a $100 Gift Card bonus.

Finally, noteworthy tidbits this weekend includes hand-drawn title action, with a free copy of Jotun: Valhalla Edition on Steam, and a pretty sweet pre-order offer on next week's release of indie title Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire for the PS4. You'll receive a free copy on the companion PS Vita version if you pre-order before its release date, and PS Plus members gets an additional 20% off incentive.

Spotify was forced to defend itself against allegations it uses fake artists to cut costs last week, but the streaming service is facing another playlist problem. Billboard reports on the limited amount of space that record labels have to promote tunes on the service. Labels want their tunes at the top of the streaming charts, so the pressure is on the most popular subscription option.

News:: After 12 years, NIS' Asagi is finally the star of her own game

Ever since the strategy RPG Makai Kingdom came into existence, we were introduced to an extra character named Asagi, the main heroine of an upcoming game. Instead of receiving her own project, she continued to make cameo appearances in a majority of Nippon Ichi Software's titles. Of course, her predicament became a running gag.

Right when things seemed hopeless for Asagi, the company gave her the chance to shine. Unfortunately, her title, Makai Wars, is on Android and iOS. Since the game went from a PSP project to a PS3 title before its mobile form, the whole thing feels like a cruel joke.

Based on Makai Wars' first screenshot, it might become the Fire Emblem Heroes of the Disgaea series. If the franchise's priceless humor is present, I could see Asagi's situation being one of the title's highlights. In the meantime, we'll have to see if this thing will actually come out. Either way, it's going to be awhile before we recover from this news since the wait was too long.

News:: Miitopia is very much Tomodachi Life: The RPG

I’m several hours into Miitopia, the new RPG for the Nintendo 3DS releasing at the end of the month, but I’m already thinking I should start over. Not because I’ve made any mistakes as that so far is impossible to do. I want to start over because watching my Miis hop and skip along these trails has me thinking my party should be made up of Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion from The Wizard of Oz. This occurred to me when, out of nowhere, I actually started singing to myself “We’re off to beat the Dark Lord, the dastardly Dark Lord of Miitopia. We hear he is a bit of a dick and that is why he’s about done. If ever, oh ever a dick there was, the Dark Lord of Miitopia is one because, because, because, because, because, because… because of the dastardly things he’s done (dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun). We’re off to beat the Dark Lord, the dastardly Dark Lord of Miitopia!”

Yup, that’s the type of mood this game has put me in.

News:: One year after launch, Mighty No. 9 physical rewards MIGHT be going out

For over a year, a couple of corporations have been playing the blame game.

Mighty No. 9, the much-hyped Kickstarter that took the world by storm, fizzled at release. It was an alright game, but not a true successor or replacement for Mega Man or worthy of a live action movie, anime series, and droves of merch. But part of that hype was a promise of physical release goods for backers -- goods that still haven't been delivered to this day.

The purveyor of said goods, Fangamer, claims that Comcept hasn't given them the materials to actually produce shipments yet in the wake of Comcept's utter silence. Finally though something gave, and backers have been getting emails stating that their items are shipping "soon," and to fill out another survey by July 17 -- which implies that they lost your information, a bad look on top of that already tight two day deadline. There's no doubt in my mind that the acquisition by Level-5 kicked them into gear for this.

This whole shebang has been an utter disaster, but at least this chapter can be closed, right? Wrong! The Vita and 3DS versions still aren't out yet!

Comcept, if you want to do right by this series, sell it to Inti Creates.
