News::Steam sale: All the Daily Deals one last time

We did it! We made it through the Steam Summer Sale! Well, almost. There are less than 24 hours left in the event, and everything that was a Daily Deal is discounted again. That's right -- almost 50 games just sitting there waiting to be scooped up off the digital shelf.

I'm not going to list everything again, because I trust that anyone that's been diligent in their non-consumerism ways like I've been imploring is aware of everything that's been offered thus far. However, if you want to see them all again, they're on Steam's store page. I trust that everyone showed great restraint for more than a week, so one last day should be no problem at all.

Let's do this again in the winter.

News::Some Great Deals For Games On The Xbox 360

IM PLAYIN highlights some of the great games that you can currently get on the Xbox 360, including some that are multiplatform, for relatively cheap. "State of Decay is crazy cheap on the Xbox Live Marketplace, considering how many hours you can squeeze out of it. Its one of those games that you can play religiously for hours, or flit in and out of when youre looking for a bit of filler. As far as zombie survival games go, this is one of the greats. Its also one of the first to do it, especially on such a grand scale. Search for supplies, clear out the zombie hordes and grow both your community of survivors and your base of operations all whist exploring a pretty decent sized game world ranging from country fields to packed towns."

News::Steam Summer Game Sales Worth Buying Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Todays Steam sale recommendation is one starring violence and death, and lots of sharp weapons. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a game which spawned from humble beginnings thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. People apparently love the thought of slaughtering others as violently as possible, and so the crowd funding amassed the required dollars to produce the title. To be precise the title raised $85,934, and only beat the target by $35,000. If there is one Kickstarter game that lived up to its original goal, Chivalry is that game.

News::How Assassins Creed: Unity rethinks stealth, combat and parkour-preview-Digital Trends

Another year, another assassin. Ubisofts Assassins Creed series murders on in 2014, this time slicing and stabbing its way through the French Revolution. Assassins Creed: Unity scales back the epic, high-seas scope of 2013s Black Flag, concentrating its action in and around Paris, France during the turbulent span of years between 1789 and 1794. Theres a new assassin at the center of the story, a continuation of the present-day narrative thread that last years game dangled from, and for the first time cooperative play in story mode. We didnt get to see all of this in action at E3, but we did get a better sense of what to expect from the October 28 release during a private session with the game.

News::Killer Is Dead (PC) Review | 411mania

The gist of the combat is good, and youll have probably 7 to 9 hours of playtime with it, to finish it, without the side content. But the story is so self-serious as to kill any interest the player might have with it, and the Gigolo Missions are just plain bad. If they had just cut those out, the game would be improved drastically.

News::Watch Dogs Review | Warp Zoned

Warp Zoned writes: "Watch Dogs was unveiled in 2012 at Ubisofts E3 Press Conference to the adoration of the entire industry. Over the past year, the Internet hype machine went into full effect, fueled by Ubisoft themselves and the fervor of online commenting communities. After that initial reveal, conjecture naturally sprung up around the web. Would the game look that good? Would the open world really be that open? With Ubisoft sending out trailer after trailer, Watch Dogs was labelled as a coming-of-age party for the next generation in terms of graphics and gameplay. But the hype train is a bad one to catch, and it has not helped Watch Dogs, making it feel far less than it should be after the initial reveal. After experiencing much of the games content, what you end up with is a title that is actually still quite fun to play, but oddly uncompelling."

Instead of being given a bag of guns, youre simply tasked with surviving by getting through each area so you can get the protagonists home. This is the game that proves war games dont have to be all about mowing down waves of enemies and the emphasis on the characters and atmosphere outshines the basic puzzling and item gathering.

News::Face-Off: Outlast

Eurogamer : "In the end, compared to a number of other Unreal-powered titles available on the new consoles, Outlast stands out for its fast frame-rate and solid image quality. The fact that the developers were able to deliver the same experience across both consoles is worth a bit of praise. Textures, texture filtering, models, and effects are identical across all three platforms for once. There are slight differences present, mostly in the form of variable performance, but these issues do not impact a mostly rock-solid experience."

News::Valiant Hearts: The Great War Review | GameCloud

William at GameCloud writes: "Valiant Hearts: The Great War is an inspired experience that explores a side of war thats not often seen in video games. The characters are all very well written; with each providing a unique perspective that is also reflected in the objectives. Repetitiveness can become a problem at times, but fortunately, short creative bursts help to ensure things keep moving forward. Its actually quite awe-inspiring how well the UbiArt Framework portrays the heart of the time period, as well as the brutality of the war. In my opinion, the game didnt need a villain to drive the players motive, but in saying that, the moustachioed menace didnt take away from its emotionally powerful conclusion. Despite any shortcomings, Ive gained an incredible amount of knowledge from my time with Valiant Hearts. Its left me with a lot to contemplate, and with a whole different perspective on war. For this reason, I would recommend this game to anyone."
