News::This live-action Street Fighter series is actually pretty great
So Machinima's Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist series is surprisingly enjoyable to watch. I was worried this would be another hit-or-miss situation as with the live-action Mortal Kombat stuff, but that's not the case here. I believe that's largely attributed to there being less reliance on special effects.
Anyway, all 13 episodes are now available to stream. Assassin's Fist details the coming of age story of Ryu and Ken, showing how Gokun thought the street fighters the Hadouken technique.

News::Disney cans Star Wars: Attack Squadrons
I had to look up what Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was again, exactly, despite being the person to cover its announcement here on Destructoid. Ah, right -- the name made it sound cooler than the reality, which is: a free-to-play space combat game developed by Area 52 Games.
The project is no more. Its official website now defaults to the following message: "We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta."
Of all the Star Wars game cancellations to be majorly upset about, this isn't one of them.

News::Basement Crawl developers are rebuilding game from scratch to regain trust
Poor Basement Crawl. Poor anyone who bought this critically-panned PlayStation 4 multiplayer game. Chris reviewed it for us, scoring it a two out of ten and writing that "Basement Crawl is not only a broken, unfinished game -- it's also a poor one." He then went on to, just as I did the other day, wish for a new Bomberman. "...anything would be better than this," he said.
Speaking to GameSpot, Bloober Team's Marc Colhoun apologized, remarking that "The game was a mess for both [players] and us." The studio is in the midst of rebuilding Basement Crawl from scratch, on a new engine, in an attempt to salvage what little it can of the concept. It'll be free for anyone who bought the original version once completed.
"I know that this isn't really the way things are usually done in the industry, but I think that if you have put a bad product out to people it is your job to do what you can to fix that. Even if it means going back to the drawing board on a game that has already been released."
A tutorial, AI, and extra game types are some of what's in store. I want to like the fix-it sentiment, but it's hard not to feel the game should never have released in the state it did.

News::MapleStory 2 makes the jump from 2D to 3D with new gameplay trailer
You can finally let go of the old 2D MapleStory and move on into 2014, Nexon fans, and embrace MapleStory 2 with this first-look trailer complete with gameplay elements. MapleStory 2 has been in development for four years and will be be released as a closed beta in Korea in 2014 with an unconfirmed release date for the rest of the world just yet. And I was actually considering having a look at it when it dropped.
MapleStory 2 takes place before the events of the original MapleStory, and will include wall-climbing, driving, and swimming. It looks like a vast improvement over the prior iteration. Do we have any MapleStory fans out there looking forward to the big beta release?

News::Here's how big the map in Watch Dogs is
Oh yeah, Watch Dogs coverage is just going to get more and more intense until the launch next week. This video is at least way more insightful than the general trailer releases as we get to see how big this interpretation of Chicago is.
This drive from one end of the map to the other also highlights one of my favorite dumb pass times in any open world game. I'm always curious how long it will take to get from each end of a map, and I often will do this myself just for fun.

News::Meet the cast of Left 4 Dead's Japanese arcade version
Left 4 Dead: Survivors is shambling to test locations in Tokyo today, courtesy of Taito. The Japanese arcade release sports a number of subtle changes to the classic zombie-shooting formula, including a strange new controller that looks just like a Wii Nunchuck.
The localization also features a quartet of new protagonists. This time around players will take on the roles of American bartender and veteran Jordan Blake, tour guide Sara Kirishima, school girl Yusuke Kudo, and college student Hirose Haruka.
Despite all the Japanese characters, Survivors retains the series' American setting. It seems these folks were visiting the United States on a school trip when the outbreak occurred. Talk about a disappointing vacation.

News::Conan thinks Watch Dogs is built around a dumb premise
Conan O'Brien's back to try out the latest videogame in his Clueless Gamer segment. This week's subject: Watch Dogs.
Besides his typical Conan shenanigans, he remarks that it's a silly idea for all of Chicago to be connected through the centralized CtOS. He pulls the show's IT guy in on the conversation, who comments "That would be the worst design possible. It would allow a guy like this to hack into everything like he is."
Then, an amazingly awkward handshake happens.

News::Looks like Samsung wants to get into the VR headset space
Engadget is reporting that Samsung is getting into the virtual reality headset business. The VR headset is being developed by Samsung's mobile division, and it's set to be announced sometime this year. Apparently there's some urgency to get this out before the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus hit the market.
The focus will be for Samsung's phone and tablet line, and will require the power of upcoming unannounced Galaxy phones and tablets. The screen is reportedly an OLED, comparable to the second version of the Rift dev kit.
Pretty safe to say this won't be the last time we hear of a tech giant wanting to get into the virtual reality space.

News::'Worst' PS4 Game Is Getting Rebuilt From Scratch
Normally, if a new release is lacking in some way—be it in terms of quality or because of bugs—the developers will simply patch the game. But in this case, the situation is so grim that the developers are starting over and redoing everything.

News::See how Wolfenstein: The New Order is censored in Germany
Wolfenstein: The New Order is the first game in the series to be officially released in Germany, and to make that happen developer Machine Games had to do a little self-censorship on their Nazi killing simulator. The main change is anything referring to Nazis. Instead the bad guys are referred to as "The Regime."
Eurogamer took a detailed look at all the changes German gamers can expect, from all the emblem replacements to the way characters speak about their enemies. Thankfully, the brutal violence was left intact. Look at them Nazi heads exploding.

News::Don't let Realistic Kissing Simulator teach you how to kiss
Weak tonsil hockey game? Slobbering all over your partner when you go in for the kiss? You need Realistic Kissing Simulator , the best kind of training you could possibly have. Just kidding. You won't learn a thing, but you'll have fun playing with yourself.
Use the keyboard to control your tongue (and your "partner's" tongue too, if you're playing solo) and weave a tangled web of desire, or tongues. Lick the boogers from your partner's nose. Or lick their eyeball. What I'm trying to say is, there won't be a whole lot of kissing going on in Realistic Kissing Simulator, and that's why it is hilarious. And a million YouTubers have probably already launched streams of themselves playing it, complete with "eye-grabbing" thumbnails for their video. Let me do a quick search. Oh, yep. I was right.
I keep waiting for these cartoonish faces to start sounding out words to each other, and then the tongues come out. Try your luck and let us know how you do.
