News::Surgeon Simulator for iPad receives first major update

The iPad version of Surgeon Simulator launched last month, much to the chagrin of patients everywhere, and it's now received its first major update with 13 new languages and more free content in the near future featuring an alien patient to completely wreck, er, operate on.

Poor Bob is now available to fans who speak German, Italian, Spanish, French, and eight other languages to spread the gospel that malpractice is the same all over the world, no matter what you speak. Also, I really love that creepy close-up I found. It really sells the game for me. I like to imagine he's singing about his organs flopping around, in a style similar to that of Freddie Mercury.

Nab Surgeon Simulator for $5.99 now on the App Store, and stay tuned for the extra-terrestrial DLC update soon.

Being a sniper isn't easy work. The bad ones aren't long for this world. That's why you'll want to know everything you possibly can before trying your hand at this dangerous profession.

As demonstrated in this video, there are many methods to get a job done. While a quick bullet to the brain might be the tried-and-true classic, you can always create distractions, set traps, or just blow something up. Sometimes you might just want a bit of variation because Sniper Elite 3 's weird skeleton kill cam looks like it'll get old fast.

News::Child Of Light Review [Capsule Computers]

Frank Inglese Writes: As a kid that grew up being read fairy tales, I never truly understood them. Like most children I took these types of stories as they came, not looking any deeper into the messages and morals behind each and every story but I was just a silly kid. As a grew older I began to show a disinterest in fantasy-type storytelling looking to indulge myself only with things that spoke to me on a very shallow level. Now, being in my 20s, Ive started looking back and researching on the origins of these stories, what they represented, what they SHOULD have taught me and they inspiration that led to their creation. Unfortunately it was too late for me, my interest in sitting through another Disney movie or reading another childrens book simply to try my hand at understand the more deep-seeded themes and issues within them had depletedthen Child Of Light came along. It was a game I thought I had no interest in but one that allowed me to understand the types of sub...

News::Daylight Review | CriticalIndieGamer

(CriticalIndieGameR) Despite the uneven performance and lacklustre action, we still found Daylight quite enjoyable. Its story is immersive and interesting, and it can provide some real scares especially at night with headphones on, in a dark room. Its difficult to recommend the game given its ghoulish performance and so-so presentation, but if you are a fan of the horror genre its worth picking up on the cheap.

News::Review: Hitman GO

Agent 47's steely gaze and austere demeanor are far too threatening to be properly translated to a stoic board game piece. That, and given the nature of the Hitman series revolving around stealth and murderous intent, a mobile game that distills the finer points of assassination into a kitschy series of diorama puzzles seems laughable.

And yet, here I am to sing the praises of Hitman GO, Square Enix's bizarre addition to the franchise. It's a minimalist series of wordless, ambient vignettes taking place inside virtual dollhouses dotted with tiny figures representing the hunter and the hunted. It shouldn't work as well as it does, but the end result is a satisfying blend of strategy and turn-based problem-solving that should appeal to a much larger demographic than that of the classic Hitman ilk.

News::There Are Things Worse Than Death In Video Games

There Are Things Worse Than Death In Video Games

There's a fine line any artist walks when trying to titillate and terrify at the same time. But making video games scary is especially tricky. Repetitive behavior—even when that behavior is running and hiding from flesh-eating monsters—doesn't mesh all that well with the spontaneity required to make someone jump out of their seat. That, and always knowing, no matter what happens, you can reload and try again.

News::Wolfenstein: The New Order international edition geo-locked outside of Germany

Due to stringent regulations under German law about the restricted sale of Nazi-related content and symbols, Bethesda is geo-locking the international version of Wolfenstein: The New Order .

The New Order's copious usage of Nazi imagery have rendered it "strictly forbidden" under German law, with the sale, import, export, or distribution of the game punishable by a hefty fine or even three years in prison, for both physical and digital editions of the game. As a result, the PC and digital versions will be geo-locked so that they can't be activated within Germany.

Out of compliance with said regulations and respect for German fans in regard to the Nazi symbols, an adapted version will be available for sale in Austria via select retailers, though everything will still be intact beyond that of the Nazi content. The international version of The New Order will still be available for the rest of the world to play when it releases May 20.

News::3 Simple Ways To Keep Gaming When Life Keeps You Busy

Hardcore Gamer: As gamers, we often hear high-horsed critics compete and criticize against the nature of how we react with our video games and we far too often come across studies of scientists, whos experiments say that we play too much. This isnt to say that devoting an unhealthy amount of time grinding levels in the latest MapleStory update or in the newest iteration of Call of Duty wouldnt bring about various consequences. However, the reverse of these two ends is just as daunting. With titles releasing in plethora and ina a short amount of time, have embarking on new, virtual quests become limited? Is there such a thing as too many games?

Want to take a gander at the most impressive empty room you'll see all day? It's Hyrule's Temple of Time, and technically it's not completely empty. The Spiritual Stones are hanging out where they're supposed to be, and the Master Sword even makes an appearance.

It never fails to be neat watching people use new tech to recreate stuff from classic games. But, if you're impressed by this, think of what Nintendo could do if it took a crack at it.

News::R-Type Dimensions finds new life on PS3 this month

R-Type Dimensions released several years ago on Xbox Live Arcade and hey, it's back in the news with a PlayStation Network version coming to PS3 later this month. Cool.

This is a package combining R-Type and R-Type II with bonuses, including (optional) new high-def graphics, Infinite Mode, and a level select, to name a few. It'll be out May 20, 2014 for $9.99.

It's disappointing to hear R-Type Dimensions isn't also coming to PS Vita, as that usually seems to be the way. Surely the people responsible for this port knew there'd be demand for a portable version, too. Wonder what kept them from going for it. Death to the Bydo, all the same.

News::The Amazing Spider-Man 2 the Game Review | Entertainment Buddha

Entertainment Buddha's Matt Heywood writes, "Beenoxs The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to its first open-world Spider-Man game that was loosely based on the Marc Webb directed film of the same name. In the sequel, Beenox took a curious direction with the games narrative and had it loosely based on the film, but in an alternate universe kind of way. Rather than providing a unique Spider-Man tale altogether, Beenox decided to weave in a ton of Marvel characters to help flesh out the game world, but by doing so the games core story suffers from a weak plot and a generic tour de force of Spider-Man villains and overused one-liners. Rather than providing our usual written review I opted to test out the PS4s new SHAREfactory app to create a custom video review for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which you can view above. Overall, SHAREfactory offers up some great and easy to use video editing tools, and outside of the lack of some fine tuning controls, its a competent video editing...
