Entertainment Buddha's Matt Heywood writes, "Beenoxs The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to its first open-world Spider-Man game that was loosely based on the Marc Webb directed film of the same name. In the sequel, Beenox took a curious direction with the games narrative and had it loosely based on the film, but in an alternate universe kind of way. Rather than providing a unique Spider-Man tale altogether, Beenox decided to weave in a ton of Marvel characters to help flesh out the game world, but by doing so the games core story suffers from a weak plot and a generic tour de force of Spider-Man villains and overused one-liners.
