News::I would've played this canceled Snake Plissken game

The developers behind Dead to Rights 2 started a game based on Snake Plissken of Escape from New York fame. Let that sink in for a moment, as I'm hardly the only one around these parts to have an appreciation of that universe and its potential for gaming. Superannuation, reporting for Kotaku, has shared early footage of the canceled title.

Director John Carpenter, producer Debra Hill, and everyone's favorite Kurt Russell were all said to be involved with the creation of Snake Plissken's Escape. Now it's just starting to sting.

Escape may not look like much now -- I do love that character model of Snake, that said -- but for its time, which would have been 2005 had the game reached completion, it would've been neat.

News::There's a little Halo 5 in this Halo 4 GotY re-release

Halo 4: Game of the Year Edition is coming out next week on October 8 for $39.99. Note that when we first learned about this package it was listed at $49.99, so this is a much better price now.

It's going to include the game itself, the Champions Bundle, the War Games Map Pass (which includes the Majestic, Castle, and Crimson map packs), and 15 pieces of in-game and avatar content from the Halo 4 campaign.

The re-release will also be giving us a cloaked Master Chief avatar item based on the Halo 5 trailer that was teased during E3 this year. Cute, I guess.

Keiji Inafune's Might No. 9's Kickstater is over, and as of closing (combined with PayPal donations) has reached $4,046,579 million in total donations. The Kickstarter began at PAX Prime 2013 last month, asking for just $900,000.

After hitting the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One stretch goals, the Kickstarter quickly went on to plow the PS Vita and 3DS, the Single-Player Call Stage & Boss, optional retro-style chiptune soundtrack + FX, and the Online Battle Race Mode stretch goals.

Obviously people are super excited for Inafune's spiritual successor to Mega Man. Might No. 9 is aiming for a Spring 2015 release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux.

News::Sir, You Are Being Hunted PJ preview

PJ: "Sir, You Are Being Hunted is a procedurally generated, first person survival game currently being developed by Big Robot Games. You play as a stereotypical English gentleman (or lady) who has found themselves lost on an archipelago of five islands, each entirely made up of one of three hostile wildernesses, after an experiment gone wrong, searching for the pieces of the device you need to return home. But before you go crying that it's a Don't Starve rip-off, that's pretty much where the similarities end."

News::Morbid curiosity: Daikatana is now on Steam

"John Romero's about to make you his bitch."

All the years later, that unforgettable magazine advertisement just cracks me up. The legacy of Ion Storm's Daikatana is that of disappointment, although, to be fair, it had to follow the likes of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake. There was nowhere left to go but down.

Between you and me, I've never actually played the game for any considerable amount of time. And, while I'm telling strangers on the Internet things I shouldn't be sharing, I am dangerously close to adding Daikatana to my Steam library. It's out as of today for $6.99 (and is also on GOG.com for a buck less, if that's more your speed.)

This is going to end in regret.

Too often we report on studio closers, so it's always a nice chance of pace when we get to talk about new jobs. Ubisoft has announced 500 new jobs coming to its Quebec location, with an investment of $362 million USD over the next seven years.

The 500 new jobs will also cover a wide range of skillsets, everything from development, production, community, network management, mathematicians, telemetry experts, system operators, monetization, and more.

All this is made possible due to the Quebec Government's support, which gave a $9.6 million USD financial contribution and adjustments to the Tax Credit for Multimedia Titles. By 2020, Ubisoft is expecting to employee 3,500 professionals within their Quebec Studios.

Tin Salamunic: I try to set all assumptions aside prior to reviewing games, but with a title like Marlow Briggs and a cover resembling a poor mans Drew Struzan poster, its hard not to set your expectations low.
