News::Lethal League Review | Super Clash Gaming

The point of Lethal League is to hit the ball so it smacks into the opposite player, knocking them out. A typical round consists of five outs or lives. When the player loses all of their lives, the game is over. This is where the interesting part comes in. Its not just a simple, boring game of hit the ball back and forth. Every time someone hits the ball it increases the speed and momentum of the projectile. The ball is outlined with the color of the players profile during the match, so the ball is not lost as easily when its flying around. The sheer amount of chaos that goes on in this game can really get the heart pumping for some time.

News::Project Spark Review | The Game Scouts

Palmer Sturman: Project Spark is an interesting creature. Though it does masquerade as a game with the inclusion of a rather lackluster campaign, I think most people will agree that the fun doesnt lie in what comes in the box, but rather what you can create with the tools given. Because of this Ill warn you now: people not interested in stewing for hours over how to improve their own designs need not apply. If youre not looking to be a part of a community of game creators, and the passionate people that test them, then youre probably better off avoiding this title completely. But, those that enjoy the challenge that comes from being handed the keys to a virtual world of endless possibility will find themselves totally enthralled.

News::Dress up like the bad guy in this free Shadow of Mordor DLC

Monolith has released a free Power of Shadow DLC pack for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Most notably, it includes an alternate costume for Talion that resembles the Black Hand of Sauron. New Epic Runes are included as well:

  • One with Nature – Immunity to Poison attacks from Uruk Captains or Ghuls.

  • Ascendant – Double Focus Time for slow motion Ranged combat.

  • Elven Grace – Increased defense which halves the damage of enemy strikes.

More clothing options are good if, like Steven, you want to live out matchmaking fantasies or, similar to Nic, you want to become the Dracula of Middle-earth. (I love these guys.)

I'm holding off on Shadow of Mordor until the holiday break, I think. This seems like something I'll want to dig into for a week straight and never touch again. Ever do that?

News::Pure Pool Review: It Is Definitely A Video Game About Pool | Warp Zoned

Warp Zoned writes: "Every time I sit down to play a game based on some sort of real life sport, the same dilemma runs through my head why am I playing the virtual version of something I can do out in the real world? I may not be able to putt like Woods, score like Beckham, or run absurdly fast like Bolt, but I can head down to the nearest playing field and make a decent go at it. However, those games allow a form of wish fulfillment to take place on the part of the player, giving them the chance for the sport to be recreated at its highest level. Pool, on the other hand, is a more two-dimensional sport. There is only so much you can do standing around some green felt, holding a stick, and smacking around some balls. There is no management simulation, no on-the-fly formation changes and tactics, no real pop culture icons of the sport. On top of that, pool has that ease of access that American football and the like do not. When you can head down to a local drinking hole, pop a few...

News::The legend of Korra: The Game review | IGN

Dan Stapleton from IGN says: "I have no idea who The Legend of Korra: The Game is for. Its definitely not for young fans of Korra, as the combat is too unforgiving, the boss battles too tedious, the economy ridiculously punishing, and the story too weak and lacking any of the shows charm. Its not for older people who enjoy a good action game, because next to contemporaries like Batman: Arkham City, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and even Platinums own Bayonetta 2, Korra looks terrible with its simple two-button combos and poor combat scenario design. I cant recommend it to anyone."

News::Single-player anti-gravity racer hits Steam Early Access

While we wait for more news on R8Games' exciting-looking prototype Formula Fusion , Berlin-based studio and publisher GameArt has attempted to fill the future-racer void by releasing its single-player version of Quantum Rush: Online on Steam.

Quantum Rush: Champions, at one point a Kickstarter project that fell well short of reaching its funding goal, is now available on Steam Early Access for $4.99. While the page doesn't specify what the final price will be, the finished version of the game is expected to cost more.

It's somewhat disappointing that Champions is single-player only, but the asking price seems about right. Considering there aren't many games available in this genre on Steam, it's hard to nitpick over the feature. In any case, it's nice to see somebody catering to that audience.

I spent some time playing the game over the weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit. While it doesn't quite reach the bar set by games like WipEout, it's still a fun little racer and works well enough to scratch that anti-gravity racing itch.

News::The Link amiibo will work with Hyrule Warriors

While Nintendo has mostly talked about its upcoming amiibo figures in the context of Super Smash Bros., other games including Mario Kart 8 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will also support the near-field communication toys. And you can add Hyrule Warriors to that list.

The Smash Bros. Link amiibo will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors but, beyond that, Nintendo isn't talking. "Stay tuned for more info," the company said on Twitter.

Curious to see how the figure will work and, for that matter, how those other titles will incorporate amiibos. It'd be great (for Nintendo; not my wallet) if the figures did drastically different things across each game. I also hope this news puts us one step closer to seeing the Ganondorf amiibo.

News::Metrocide is a thinking person's Hotline Miami

Sydney-based independent studio Flat Earth Games has released its top-down cyberpunk-noir contract killing simulator Metrocide via Steam Early Access at the reduced price of $6.99. The final version of the game, which should be available in around six weeks, will cost $12.99.

To coincide with the title's Early Access launch, game creators Leigh and Rohan Harris have released a second developer walkthrough to demonstrate some of the more complicated hits you'll be tasked with completing in the third zone of the game, Hilldale.

In this latest video, viewable below, anti-hero T.J. Trench is far better equipped than he was in the last. Sporting a high-powered silenced rifle and remotely detonated explosives, T.J. can now take down targets from a safe distance, but there's a catch -- depending on the contract's criteria, visiting the crime scene may be necessary for cashing in on the reward. You may want to think twice before striking from a distance; it's going to be difficult to pick up that briefcase with several heavily armed police drones hovering over the body.

Technology Tell writes, "I couldnt play Alien: Isolation at night. The notion of being alone, in a dark room, in an empty house, while going through a game where Im also alone, in dark rooms and corridors, in an almost-deserted space station, hit too close to home. Especially since both had an invader. In Alien: Isolation, it was a xenomorph playing cat-and-mouse with Ellen Ripleys daughter, while at home my cat waited until the absolute worst moments to make his presence known. News::The Evil Within Review | OnlySP

OnlySP: Calling The Evil Within the best survival-horror game Ive played in years is no exaggeration. Its been too long since I played a game that stuck to the traditional roots of the older classics, while instilling a new sense of mixed horror from all cultures and modern gameplay mechanics to create a horror game that has been missed for several years.
