News::Game Review: The Last Federation | Starburst Magazine

Best known for their work in AI War: Fleet Command and its expansions, Arcen Games are no stranger to high concept science fiction titles. The Last Federation sees a similarly bold move on the part of the developers, and they hit it out of the park. You play as the last of your race, the Hydrals, who were wiped out in a conflict with another planet. In command of a powerful warship, you must prevent history repeating itself. Your task is to unite the various warring races of this solar system, build alliances and construct a lasting Federation. Its effectively Andromeda the video game.

News::Game Review: War of the Vikings | Starburst Magazine

Promoted as a standalone entry in the War franchise, War of the Vikings turns from the 15th century to the age of the Saxons. Built on the same engine, the game sees players taking up axes either as marauding Vikings or Saxon warriors as they attempt to plunder or defend coastal villages. While sharing many traits with War of the Roses, the title is hardly the old game with a new coat of paint. Which is unfortunate as it would almost certainly be all the better for it.

News::Super Motherload Review | GameGrin

Super Motherload is not a very long game, nor is it a very complex game. What Super Motherload is, is a beautiful and compelling slab of gaming. There are few games that have come out recently that are worthy of not only a playthrough but a full completion - doing everything it has to offer. This little indie title manages to weigh story with gameplay in such a way as to not be intrusive to the experience, yet still keep you curious as to what its all about.

News::Worth a Play The Amazing Spider-Man

Karl Dodds of SpawnFirst wrote: "Whilst The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will soon be upon us, theres still time to catch up on Beenoxs previous entry in the series. The Amazing Spider-Man is Beenoxs third effort in making a Spider-Man game. While the first two attempts werent exactly terrible they were missing the open world element that makes playing a Spider-Man game so fun. In The Amazing Spider-Man they remedied that fact and included an extensive iteration of New York City to explore. Most of the levels take place inside the Oscorp building, but youll also find yourself in the sewers of New York and on occasion fighting extravagant enemies on the streets of the city. Mission objectives are fairly varied so you wont get bored having to do the same things over and over. There are 12 chapters to complete, and most of them take just under an hour to finish depending on how quickly you run through them. Theres plenty more to do once youve finished the main story if you like c...

News::Trials Fusion Video Review Nothing to Ride Home About I The Koalition

Callum May of The Koalition writes: Difficulty can be a problematic aspect for video games. There's always this question of how much you can punish the player before they lose interest. Are they going to have to sit through long loading screens? Will they have to start from the beginning? Will the experience be rewarding at all? All of these questions need to be answered in a way that constantly refers back to player experience.

News::Long Live the Queen review | CheatMasters

Avoiderdragon: There are some genres in video games that are somewhat questionable compared to others. They tend to be niche and put off most people due to the nature of their gameplay. The visual novel genre is a perfect example of this, especially with many people thinking that its not a game to begin with since it seems more like interactive fiction than anything else. Long Live the Queen does do things a bit differently in this case.

News::Shred with this ridiculous Monster Hunter guitar

My, how time flies. Capcom's indomitable Monster Hunter series has been around for ten years now, and to celebrate its tenth anniversary, Capcom has teamed up with ESP Guitars to release what could be the most metal guitar I've eve seen.

The Rathalos Firesword guitar is modeled after the in-game Great Sword, and it will run you 2,300,000 yen (~$22411.20) if you're interested in taking this bad boy home with you. It comes with its own impressive hard-shelled case emblazoned with the ESP logo and a gold foil dragon, but if you're carrying this exquisite example of a musical instrument around with you, you might opt to wear it on your back so everyone can ogle.

"That's right. Keep staring," you'll think to yourself. "Senpai will finally notice me this year with this guitar." And Senpai will. Because you have to be filthy rich to afford one of these. If you happen to purchase one, please serenade me with my favorite Kyuss tunes. We will be best friends.

News::Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest Review | Hardcore Gamer

Adventure Time has a surprisingly good track record when it comes to licensed games. Card Wars on the iPad is a surprisingly on-point sendup of TCGs (not unlike the episode its based on) and an addicting strategy game in its own right. WayForwards Hey Ice King! Whyd You Steal Our Garbage? offers a really fun take on the Zelda 2 formula (even if it is a little on the short and easy side), with gorgeous graphics and a light, funny story by series creator Pendleton Ward. The show plays around with video game tropes on a regular basis, so perhaps its only natural that it lends itself so well to interactive adaptation.

It is a puzzle game with the simple goal of bringing a goat to the end of the level. The concept is simple but the levels are far from being so. Unfortunately the graphics was a weak point. News::Revol Mini Solid Snake figure packs a smaller punch

Solid Snake has never been this adorable. Well, I don't know if the new Revoltech line, Revol Mini, qualifies as adorable, but this particular figure cuts it for me. The Solid Snake Revol Mini figure comes packing excellent detail and articulation. It is, as Andres at Tomopop calls it, "the Snake figure you wanted back in 1998 [...] before you knew what figures could be like now." Truer words have never been spoken, much like a thousand words. Except when Koda Kumi actually said the phrase "a thousand words."

The Revol Mini figure measures about 4.25" and will be released in Japan in July for 2,600 yen. He's super poseable and simply gorgeous. Just look at that face. Then tell me you don't want to pony up, because I think you're lying. Go tell the folks at Tomopop how awesome they are for digging up this gem, then go weep that it isn't yet a permanent fixture of your collection. Then come cry into my bosom and I'll hum a soothing rendition of "Parabola."

News::TacticalIndie - Goat Simulator (PC) Review

The internet asked for it and Coffee Stain Studios delivered it, Goat Simulator, the game that simulates the life of the most interesting goat ever imagined. Upon starting the game you are thrown into a typical yard where you and three other goats are just hanging out, but once you begin to move you realise you are no ordinary goat. Your headbutt is powerful enough to kill a man in a single thump or destroy a car beyond recognition.
