News::First-person mopping space guts in Viscera Cleanup Detail

It feels like it's been forever since the first-person custodial genre has gotten any love. Thankfully, this oversight is being rectified with Viscera Cleanup Detail, which is currently seeking votes on Steam Greenlight and playable thanks to this early alpha download. I often complain the entire first-person perspective has been monopolized by shooters, so I'm glad to see a scrappy indie team come in to clean those shooters' clocks.

The game is the product of an internal, 10-day game jam at developer RuneStorm. It tasks the player with tidying up the messy aftermath of a thwarted alien invasion. From the looks of it, the toll was heavy on the human side, unless the aliens have red blood. Shouldn't aliens have different color blood? I think so. Anyways, massacre be damned. Why mope when you could mop?

Viscera Cleanup Detail features first-person mopping with the world's greatest mop (look at those bloated mop tentacle physics!), organ and viscera incinerating, and more. It's kind of amazing. Especially when your mop gets too bloody that it just starts spreading more blood all over unless you wring it out in the bucket, but why would you wring it out in the bucket when you could paint a bloody masterpiece like you're Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter.

If you dig this, you more learned folks might also enjoy Surgeon Simulator 2013 .

Metal Arcade: Syed Hussain and Jason Bakker write: Despite its brevity, The Walking Dead: 400 Days is just as intense as its brilliant base game. After leaving us an emotionally drained wreck, Telltale Games have released their first DLC for The Walking Dead, my game of the year in 2012. 400 Days is just under 2 hours long, and takes place during and just after the events of Season One, serving as a bridge to Season Two. With that said, is it as intense as the first season?

News::EA brings NHL '94 Anniversary Mode to NHL 14

Hockey and non-hockey fans alike might remember the iconic NHL '94, the first NHL game to feature actual NHL rosters, teams, and logos. It also removed fighting and blood per league concerns. True to its era, NHL '94 offered a simpler form of sports gameplay, more arcade-styled and accessible, fun for either hockey fans who weren't big into games or game fans who weren't big into hockey.

For NHL 14 and the 20th anniversary of the series, NHL '94 is making a triumphant return as its own optional game mode, featuring all the iconic trappings of the game. The ice is blue, the player indicators are stars, and the music reverts to 16-bit organ tunes. They even removed the advertisements from the boards. In an EA game.

Gameplay-wise, of course, it's back to a simplistic button layout, while penalties are non-existent. NHL 14 physics minus the penalties can only mean a good time decking your friends. EA has been bringing its old sports properties back of late, with the wonderful NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and the slightly awkward NHL Blitz remake. Cool to see the NHL series get some love, and as an included game mode, no less. Does it feel too weird in 3D?

News::The Swapper Pixel Judge review

PJ: "The issue of self-identity has always been prevalent within science fiction with most of its questions essentially leading to the 'Ship of Theseus' conundrum - which is to say, were someone to replace your person with an identical copy, and then proceeded to copy your consciousness over to this other body, which person is you? The Swapper plays with this theme masterfully, incorporating it into the main gameplay mechanic where you roam a mostly abandoned space station commanding clones, sacrificing them to further your own ends, swapping from one body to the other - while gorgeous environments drip about you with intense character. Not to mention the puzzles...oh, the puzzles. At least a dozen of them have left me speechless with amazement, sitting back from my computer with my chin cradled between my arms as I wracked my brain, inadvertently jumping out of joy, shouting eureka, as the solution finally came to me. News::King of the Kickstarters: Best Games Currently in Development

Many of you may have heard of the term Kickstarter and some of you may not have. The Kickstarter scheme is probably one of the best ways for indie Developers/Games Companies to get funding from fans of games and the gaming community in order to be able to cover the costs of their development and create a game or peripheral to give back to the fans. In fact its not just games, you can make a Kickstarter for basically any project where you will be offering a service or any goods. Kickstarter is an American-based private for-profit company founded in 2009 that provides tools to raise funds for creative projects via crowd funding through its website and is such a powerful platform that some games have even received in excess of $80 million in funding. We here at Entertainment Fuse will be going to be delving in to some of the best games and peripherals currently in development on Kickstarter to see if it really is worth the community pumping their money into them.

News::Audio Input Super Amazing Wagon Adventure Developer Talks About Rookie Sound Design

Originally released on Xbox Live Indie Games and now ported to PC through Desura, Super Amazing Wagon Adventure is more than just an Oregon Trail parody. The game takes you through different environments on your journey across the country, forcing you to face randomly generated enemies and challenges with only a few friends and a pistol. The developer, Sparsevector, is a one-man team, with Wagon Adventure as his first project. One of the most addicting parts of the game was the soundtrack. Its not too long, but it really blends with each area nicely and keeps the game energetic and fun. News::Blue haired girl: Ninja Theory teases next gen game?

Ninja Theory, developer of the recent, divisive DmC: Devil May Cry, has a new trailer up on its website that chronicles its work during this soon to be recent generation. Spliced in is also a more mysterious project featuring a blue haired woman, which could be a glimpse of whatever new IP the developer is working on for next generation. The video ends with a "thanks for a kickass generation" note, which seems to imply, along with the rapidly approaching PS4 and Xbox One launch dates, that the unknown project is indeed for next gen.

The video serves as a nice remembrance for what the studio has worked on this console generation, with a small, sad counterpoint. Each montage features a Metacritic score awarded to the title in question. It is, I suppose, nice to track what can be seen as improvement, but it's a sad reminder of things like Metacritic-based worker bonuses. This is in turn a sad reminder of how poorly Enslaved: Odyssey to the West seems to have sold because it's a phenomenal game featuring some of the best writing, as well as acting, of the generation.

Still, all seems well. DmC: Devil May Cry is in the can, much to the chagrin of many of you -- personally, I dig the game for its gorgeous, Gravity Rush-styled aesthetic alone -- and Ninja Theory seems to be back to creating new IPs. Warm's the heart. Now comes the painful wait for something that can hopefully surpass Enslaved. Seriously, that game is fantastic, go buy a damn copy.

News::The Power To Move You - Faulty Pixel

The games industry has always been the focus of much controversy. From assertions that it causes obesity and health issues to claims its creating a generation of violent psychopaths, games have been used as the scapegoat for a great many things over the years. Such is the way of things in the entertainment industry. In the past, music and movies have born their share of the brunt of criticism for societys ills. There have been many high-profile cases of music being blamed for suicides or murders, for anorexia or depression; likewise with movies. Games arent special or unique in this case, theyre just the latest thing to be tarred with that particular brush.

News::PSA: iOS Deus Ex disables shooting on jailbroken devices

The gall of some people.

Here I was innocently joking in Chris Carter's review of iOS exclusive Deus Ex: The Fall that the lead character looks like Jean Reno, amidst all the "I never asked for this" quips. Then I catch wind, via Kotaku, that Eidos put restrictions in play to keep owners of jail broken iPhones and iPads from playing its $7 mobile Deus Ex -- restrictions that are kept hidden until users actually buy the thing. Playing on a jail broken device disables shooting.

While you could feasibly play through the game stealthily, sans guns, players (via user reviews left on the game's page) have been running into this restriction during The Fall's early tutorial, which could mean progress is stopped from that point on, unless you can get through the tutorial another way.

What dystopic cyberpunk future have I wandered into? Jail breaking your iOS device is a perfectly legal thing for you to do with a pricey piece of technology you purchased. Eidos is treating such consumers like pirates by implementing this hidden, game crippling feature. If this is meant to be an anti-piracy measure, it still strains credulity, because I doubt pirates would find it challenging to get passed such a measure. If you have a jail broken iOS device, save yourself $7 and avoid Deus Ex: The Fall.
