News::All Games Should Play in 60 Frames per Second

Lately, with the release of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the frames per second debate has been happening a lot more, largely in the context of game developers intentionally capping their games to 30 fps. This was especially the case with Bethesdas The Evil Within, which not only capped the games frame rate on both consoles and the PC, but letterboxed the screen. Along with an optional grain filter, it was plainly obvious that developer Tango Gameworks wanted to emulate an old, 1970s film look. After outcry from the PC community, the developer patched the game to both uncap the framerate and remove the letterbox.

News::Just Cause 3 won't have in-game microtransactions, promises Avalanche

Just Cause 3 is officially happening. If that confirmation doesn't brighten your day, you must have skipped the last installment, which was stupid, awesome, and one of the best videogame sandboxes ever created. Speaking of, Just Cause 2 is $2.99 on Steam right now. Get in there.

More good news: Avalanche Studios co-founder and chief creative officer Christofer Sundberg says Just Cause 3 "does not feature in-game microtransactions." It won't be a free-to-play game, either, though I'm not sure anyone seriously thought that would be the case.

"Beyond launch, we are likely to look into DLC packs and items as part of our ambition to support [the game] and its players for many years to come, but until that time we're completely focused on making the best Just Cause game we possibly can," says Sundberg.

Last week's leaked screenshots "were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3," which shouldn't come as a surprise. Can't wait to see how Rico's new wingsuit fits in with the existing grapple and parachute mechanics. Should be ridiculous even by Just Cause standards.

News::Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Multiplayer Review - CanadianGamer

Jake Goldberg of CanadianGamer writes : The newest Call of Duty has been out for no more than a week now. Developed this time by Sledgehammer games has set out to change the traditional formula of how Call of Duty is played. This review is strictly multiplayer, seeing as many fans of the series play Call of Duty for this reason only. Lets get into the review. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a pretty game, but it doesnt do anything spectacular that hasnt been seen in past CODs. The models are all done well and the textures are above average, but Call of Duty has never been about the graphics, and so this game is pretty true to the series in most respects. The game is surprisingly decently optimized for Nvidia graphics cards, sadly the same cant be said for AMD cards. The video settings panel has a good amount of options that can be toggled to affect performance, but you wont want to be playing this game at anything other than 60FPS. A great yet super simple feature incl...

News::Advanced Warfare is the best thing ever... For Battlefield

From GamesReviews: "For years, EA have tried to take the battle to Activision and for years they've fallen short. The PR smack talk every year DICE has released a shooter has been intense, and every release does respectfully by almost any measure, except that of Call of Duty. "It's not that they're especially similar, because they're not - outside of the basic premise of running around shooting one another anyway. Rather, it's just two big games in a single genre. But now, Activision has given EA a lifeline by publishing a Call of Duty that leaves even the pretence of realism completely behind."

News::Fend off cannibals with a friend in The Forest

There's this Discovery show called Naked and Afraid in which two nude strangers survive in the wilderness for three weeks. It's alright but the novelty wares off fast. Imagine how much more entertaining it'd be if there were cannibal mutants scurrying around.

Until American television reaches that point, here's the next best thing: cooperative play in The Forest. Endnight Games has released an update that allows players to pair up. It's also "slowed down [the] tennis ball throw massively" so they can play catch. How thoughtful.

Co-op is rough in its current state -- reminder: The Forest is still in Steam Early Access -- so hold off unless you're okay with bugs or curiosity has gotten the better of you. Endnight intends to smooth out the experience and support more than two players with future patches.
