News::Just Cause 3 won't have in-game microtransactions, promises Avalanche

Just Cause 3 is officially happening. If that confirmation doesn't brighten your day, you must have skipped the last installment, which was stupid, awesome, and one of the best videogame sandboxes ever created. Speaking of, Just Cause 2 is $2.99 on Steam right now. Get in there.

More good news: Avalanche Studios co-founder and chief creative officer Christofer Sundberg says Just Cause 3 "does not feature in-game microtransactions." It won't be a free-to-play game, either, though I'm not sure anyone seriously thought that would be the case.

"Beyond launch, we are likely to look into DLC packs and items as part of our ambition to support [the game] and its players for many years to come, but until that time we're completely focused on making the best Just Cause game we possibly can," says Sundberg.

Last week's leaked screenshots "were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3," which shouldn't come as a surprise. Can't wait to see how Rico's new wingsuit fits in with the existing grapple and parachute mechanics. Should be ridiculous even by Just Cause standards.
