News:: Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny to receive new English dubs

During its panel at the ongoing Otakon, Sunrise dropped a surprise bombshell that Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and its sequel Seed Destiny will receive new English dubs for their HD remasters. The new dubs are being recorded at NYAV Post, which is where the second season of Gundam Thunderbolt is being recorded as well.

This feels weird. I've never watched the dub of Seed or Seed Destiny, but this definitely feels like it shouldn't be a thing.

News:: Destiny 2 will launch with more than 50 hours of story content

Edge Magazine 310 has made it out to some subscribers, and it has some juicy details on Destiny 2's player-vs-environment (PVE) content. One of the most relieving bits of information is that the story is expected to be much more coherent and engaging than Destiny 1's.

Not only that, but it sounds like Destiny 2 will launch with a much greater volume of content as well. In addition to the familiar story missions, Strikes, and Patrols, there will also be the new Adventures, Lost Sectors, and World Quests. According to Edge Magazine, "in total there are over 80 missions and activities in Destiny 2, and each is substantial -- in length, challenge, story and reward."

There's apparently so much content, at one point in development players were reaching the end of the character progression at around the 55-hour mark, and there was still more PVE stuff left to experience. The progression has since been tweaked to keep that drip-feed of advancement over the whole game.

Depending on how one counts the number of PVE activities, Destiny 2 is launching with something like 2-3 times as much content as Destiny 1 did, and roughly an equal number of activities to what Destiny currently has, after four paid expansions and a handful of live events.

Destiny 2 launches on September 6. That's only like three and a half weeks!

News:: Fire Emblem Warriors interview reveals Lucina was almost cut, twins didn't use swords initially, and more

Recently the Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream interviewed two prominent members of the development team for Fire Emblem Warriors: producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Hiroya Usuda. It's a rather lengthy interview, however it does help give an understanding into what's going on with the game, and the choices with the roster.

You'd better have a seat before continuing. Some of this doesn't exactly instill confidence.

News:: AI beats top 'Dota 2' players in one-on-one matches

Artificial intelligence isn't just good at playing Go -- it can also emerge victorious in the eSports arena. The Elon Musk-backed OpenAI team has developed a machine learning system that has beaten "many" of the best pro Dota 2 players in one-on-one matches, including star player Dendi during a live demonstration at The International. The trick wasn't to teach the AI how to play the game -- instead, it was to have the bot play many games against itself, and encourage ideal behavior as it learned the ropes over time.

News:: King's Quest: Episode One is the best gaming experience you missed and is totally worth your time

I see you reading this summary before clicking. You don't have to click, but you'll miss one of the best gaming experiences in a long time. You may be thinking "I'm not really into adventure games, and I never played any of the original King's Quest games." You should will make an exception for at least one episode -- just one -- because this is one of the best gaming experiences many of you missed out on: King's Quest Episode One: A Knight to Remember.

I don't care if you choose to just watch it on YouTube, but get someone who does it justice. Dan and Ross on Steam Train have a good playthrough. Dan has the nostalgia for the old games, but even if you don't and wouldn't get all the references, it's a hilarious and touching adventure in the truest sense. I didn't get all the references as I never played the old games, but it's still superb in its own right and respects the original games without obnoxious nostalgia pandering.

The Mortal Kombat franchise was riding high... and then 1997 rolled around. AV Club takes a look at the hot streak before the release of two games and a movie in the fall of that year. All three fell flat. That trio of shortcomings didn't kill the franchise completely, but it did enough damage to end Mortal Kombat's reign atop the video game world.

News:: Playing professional 'Call of Duty' with half a thumb

Ian Wyatt doesn't remember the moment he lost half of his thumb. He was 1 year old, sitting in his family's driveway against the side of an exercise bike while his 7-year-old brother played with the pedals, pumping them around and around to make the wheels fly. Wyatt, unaware of the laws of physics, stuck his tiny hand into the bike's chain. It cleanly sliced off half of his right thumb.

"To be honest, I got quite lucky," Wyatt says.
