News::Black Ice - Cyberpunk Roguelike Enters Open Beta

Black Ice is an excellent hacking-based cyberpunk roguelike FPS RPG set in a computer mainframe, with Tron-like neon visuals and lots of Diablo-style loot. We first covered Black Ice around 6 months ago when it was in Alpha, but with the newly gameplay improvements and the start of the Steam Greenlight campaign, we thought it time for an update. When you start the game, you are surrounded by a variety of relatively easy to hack coloured servers, but stray further afield and things can get much tougher. Walk up to a server and right click to start hacking and a load of nasty minions will spill out of it and start attacking you. Complete the hack to earn XP and collect some lovely loot to aid your future Hacking attempts. The final goal of the game is to find and hack the biggest server of them all to release an imprisoned AI. Youll need to level up your character considerably before you take it on though as its incredibly tough.

News::Dark Souls 2: 8 Things That Ruin The Game

Dark Souls 2 is finally out, and as the world gets used to the myriad of changes FromSoft have implemented to keep the series fresh for both newcomers and veterans alike, there are a wealth of choices that just feel somewhat off. The original Dark Souls was a very hard game, but it was almost unanimously your fault if you died (save for getting toasted on that opening bridge where the game just wants to make you weep), and therein lies the rub, as with the developers diving back into what was a perfect formula for gameplay, they appear to have changed many aspects for the worse.

News::South Park: The Stick of Truth Review [Capsule Computers]

Zac Elawar from Capsule Computers writes: "After three delays, South Park: The Stick of Truth is finally here! Originally to be published by THQ, the RPG was planned for release in March, 2013. It wasnt long after its first delay to just a month later in April that THQ infamously filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. In their assets auction, Ubisoft bought the publishing rights to the title, confirming a second delay to December of the same year. The final delay saw that date changed to March, 2014. Fans of Trey Parker and Matt Stones iconic TV show have waited a long time, and expectations were held high throughout. If the game bombed after an entire year of delays the disappointment would be immense. Luckily, South Park: The Stick of Truth forces us to respect its authoritah and delivers."

News::The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2 A House Divided Review - The Geek Link

The Geek Link writes - The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2 A House Divided is about solitude. Solitude and fear. But the time to be most afraid is when you are not alone. In fact, as the old adage goes, it isnt the dead you should fear but the living. Season 1 of Telltales smash hit series showed just how dangerous people could be, and Season 2 has yet to slow up on that notion. The dangers that have begun to come up for Clementine have started to ramp up and showed no real sign of slowing down. However, bland character tropes and a trend of shortening the episode length hurts what is one of the better episodes in the series.

News::EA Finally Wins with Titanfall

Josh Hinke from Explosion writes: " It is safe to say that 2013 was a year to forget for Electronic Arts. Despite small victories here and there, the year was largely abysmal for one of the largest publishers in games. In one year the company dealt with the departure of its CEO, being unofficially voted the worst company in America, and dealt with two massive server issues effecting two of its highest profile games. Yes, it is safe to say that Electronic Arts New Years Eve party was a welcomed sight for the company, a chance to start fresh. And start fresh they have, while Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare was a fine release for the company early in the year, the crown-jewel, Titanfall, has been a huge win for the studio, as they hoped it would be."

News::Next-Gen Face-Off: The Lego Movie Videogame

With the arrival of Lego Marvel Super Heroes on PS4 and Xbox One, Traveller's Tales decided to forgo the slick, low-latency 60fps set-up of the early PS2 games in favour of a less demanding 30fps update, using the saved GPU cycles to dramatically ramp up the level of effects work. Released just a few months later, it's not particularly surprisingly to see that The Lego Movie doesn't deviate from the course set out by the previous game, and is built upon the same core rendering foundations - lighting, shaders and post-process effects all take precedence over running at high frame-rates. As we've seen before, the results are spectacular, delivering a cinematic feel to the proceedings that enhance the more exciting moments throughout the game.

News::Dark Souls 2 Review » Paranerds

The only thing that really needs to be said about Dark Souls II is that its more of the same. The game keeps everything which worked in the original. It remains hard as nails, improves and expands upon previous aspects without ever losing sight of what it needs to be, and is an all around solid title. The only real failings come from its increasingly overblown reputation and the various communities which have built up around it. If you like hard as nails combat and enjoy bleak, dark, moody settings then youll be right at home here. Still, youre probably not going to be quite satisfied with just that. So, lets examine these points in further detail. Just to give warning though, this is mostly going to be a review for people who played the original.

PixlBit | "Like many other small gaming outlets, PixlBit didn't receive their copy of Dark Souls II until the Friday before the game's March 11 release. News::The Witcher 3s Delay Should Be Appreciated

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes: ''Normally video game delays come with a sigh of disappointment along with the despairing thought of yet another game in developmental hell. Truth be told, however, some delays are just what a game needs. The latest Thief, for example, stinks of a game that could have done with a good few extra months of polish before it was released. The point, then: delays may have a negative impact on the consumer, but the product benefits from it.''

Good Game: "I think shooter fans will want something a bit more meaty; and I think fans of the original games will want a lot more strategy and depth to it.
