News::Mighty No. 9 skin to appear in Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

If you absolutely, positively cannot wait to play Mighty No. 9 , Keiji Inafune and crew seem to be providing an opportunity to at least control a character model of him, assuming you don't mind doing it in Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. A skin based on the character has been announced for the game, which will be packaged in a "special zombie pack" DLC releasing in Japan.

How and if this will appear in other regions has yet to be announced, but considering the massive success of the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter project, it's hard to imagine it won't appear everywhere.

There is something incredibly disturbing about that character model tearing apart a zombie. It's the stuff nightmares are made of.

News::Take Two talks possible Grand Theft Auto film

For such a widely-known property like Grand Theft Auto, a decent film adaptation could do tremendously well at the box office. It would have no trouble breaking into the mainstream with a ridiculous promotional campaign fitting of a blockbuster behind it, which is the way these films tend to go down. Why hasn't a movie happened? The franchise only seems to be getting bigger.

Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Technology and Digital Media Conference, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff said "If you're going to invest in a movie -- you can make a lot of money on movies -- but as a licensor, you've got to look at what the success rate is, what the movie has to do for you to generate substantial economics that are worth taking the risk."

With $1 billion-plus in Grand Theft Auto V sales, Take Two isn't exactly strapped for cash. Continuing, Slatoff said "So if it's a bad movie, does that hurt your franchise or not? So there is always a balance that has to be struck there. But obviously, we consider those inbound requests. We take those inbound requests. So it’s something we consider at this point, but again it's not core to what we do."

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is an excellent example of a modern day stealth title, giving the player a great degree of freedom in playing the game out how they see fit. The stealth is done exceptionally well with every level having dozens of alternative paths so that you can craft your own way through. News::NPD confirms PS4 launch 'biggest in history'

After the news earlier today that market research group DFC Intelligence was dubbing the launch of the PlayStation 4 the biggest ever for a console, a statement from Sony President and CEO Jack Tretton confirmed it, backed up by new numbers from the NPD.

"PlayStation 4 sales in North America and worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4 being recognized as the largest console launch in history," Tretton explains. "In North America alone, more than one million PS4 units were sold in only 24 hours and we’re pleased NPD has reported that PS4 was the top selling next gen platform for both hardware and software in November."

The figure of one million units sold within 24 hours was impressive and it seems like Sony is able to meet demand for its new hardware fairly well all things considered. Jack concludes: "We are humbled by the passion and excitement demonstrated by gamers for PS4. Demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we're working hard to get PS4 units into the hands of customers throughout the holiday season."

News::This may be one of the best Smash Bros. screenshots yet

It's frigid outside. We're in the midst of a slow period for game news. I've only just now realized I'm out of milk now that cereal is on my mind. On days like this, it's the little things that matter most, such as this daily screenshot from Super Smash Bros.

This isn't our first time seeing the Dr. Wily stage or the Yellow Devil, but it's our best look at the two in action yet. It's possible that the memorable Mega Man boss will play a similar role in Smash Bros., though I have a feeling he's just a hazard for the stage.

Either way, something tells me the pause exploit won't work again.

News::Explore Secrets of Raetikon on Steam Early Access in Jan.

I'm hopeful Secrets of Raetikon will be successful for Broken Rules, based on what I've seen of the aerial exploration title. It's great, but it is also one of those games that's perhaps better experienced on your own as opposed to being told about it.

The developer has announced its Steam Early Access launch date, which is set for January 7, 2014. That could very well be the place where Secrets of Raetikon builds its initial audience. The alpha build will contain the game's single-player campaign and editor, minus the "grand finale," with an expected finished release date of Q1 2014.

My favorite part of the Steam description is the suggestion for players to "grab a robin and feed it to a buzzard." Well, if you say so.
