News::January release likely for EverQuest Next Landmark alpha

Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley has pinned the EverQuest Next Landmark alpha as happening next month. "It's looking like [the alpha] is going to start sometime in the last half of January," he tweeted. That's naturally subject to change, but, fingers crossed.

"He warned us. Sorta. Not a surprise to see this. :)" responded director of development for EverQuest David Georgeson.

Now that I know what Landmark entails, I'm so down for this. The creation tools appear quick enough -- and the end results pretty enough -- that I actually want to build stuff for once.

News::A classic Natural Selection map has returned

I completely and utterly missed out on Natural Selection back in the day and although I have only ever played its follow-up, it is cool to see the classic map Eclipse revitalized for Natural Selection 2. Graphics sure have come a long way since Half-Life.

This is of course a free update, available now on Steam. To that end, the game is down to $6.24 (Windows/Linux) during the holiday sale. I wholeheartedly recommend it if you're willing to put in the time to learn how to play -- there's a bit of a curve (or cliff, as it were). The usual fixes and the like are also a part of this patch, which you can read about at the link below.

News::Someone built a 3D printer inside Minecraft

When I first saw this video of a 3D printer within Minecraft, I was blown away -- but it was getting late, and I learned long ago not to publish at night. It's since come to my attention again, and I'm taking that as sign enough. The video, created by YouTube user ItsJustJumby, was made possible by an astounding 20,000+ command blocks alone, and that's just one of the component types.

How one goes about thinking up such a project, much less putting it all together and sticking with it to the bitter end is beyond me. What dedication.

News::FIFA 14 Career guide essential buys for Tottenham

The world is your oyster at Spurs. Despite the sale of Gareth Bale, Tottenham have one of the best and deepest squads in the league. There are, however, a couple of positions where they are still lacking some quality and depth, which is where we come in. You have a lot of money to play with, which means you can look to add real quality to this side. Weve recommended one player of experience, who will come in and command a starting spot on your team, and another youngster who is already a star but will only get better the more he plays in the famous white of the Lane. The best part is you should still have some spare change left to buy another player or two. As well as the two players we think you should sell as soon as possible, there are a few players we think you should look to offload, including Harry Kane and Gomes.

News::Goodbye Deponia Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Goodbye Deponia ultimately ends the series on a high, despite some moments of questionable humour and frustration due to a lack of direction during the middle act. The complaint that Rufus is an unlikeable jerk is addressed beautifully and the ending is surprisingly sophisticated and tender. Saying goodbye to Deponia proves to be a lot more emotional than fans of the series would perhaps have expected based upon the previous two games. Its to Daedalics credit that theyve managed to wrap up so many plot threads, whilst leaving things just open enough to offer a glimmer of hope that well get to spend more time with Rufus and Goal in the future.
