News::The last two Skylanders: Swap Force toys are out

If you haven't been following Skylanders, the game requires specific physical toys to unlock content. Not only does each character have a unique challenge, but they also have particular elemental powers (to unlock certain gates), and in Swapforce , a few characters have different "movement types."

Activision releases toys in waves, and last week marked the final distribution. Kotaku reports that the last two figures needed to 100% the game (Rubble Rouser and Stink Bomb) have been released. No matter how you feel about locking content behind physical toys, you have to admit this whole marketing scheme is pretty genius.

News::Most Anticipated of 2014: Thief | OnlySP

OnlySP: Thief is a title that looks to be splitting opinions. Hardcore fans of the series seem averse to the update that their beloved franchise is receiving, while those who havent played the original games are having their interest piqued. Perhaps this is because gamers can often be resistant to change, or perhaps its because theyre concerned that its becoming a modern stealth game or that it looks similar to Dishonored, which is fair considering Dishonored looks like the original Thief games. Regardless, Thief is a first-person stealth game by Edios Montreal and is one of OnlySPs most anticipated games of 2014.

News::PlayStation 14 for '14 sale has something you want

Enslaved for as low as $5? How can you pass that up? Make amends for not buying that gem the first time around. It's a lovely game. Puppeteer for $7, down from $40? You couldn't shut me up about that gorgeous platformer last year and still no one bought it. To spite me, probably.

This is a heck of a sale, especially for PlayStation Plus users. Cool, smaller titles like Rain, Spelunky, and Thomas Was Alone for Steam-sale pittance. Full disc releases like Tales of Xillia and Puppeteer cut to ten bucks and under. You can finally buy some games for your Vita.

The 14 for '14 sale will run from January 14 (hah!) to January 20. Check all the PS3 and Vita deals below.

What are you buying? I might actually want to try that new Sly Cooper.

Gotham City is in a state of lockdown. Armed criminal gangs stalk the bleak city streets; there is a riot in Blackgate Prison. News::Knytt Underground Wii U Review | RGN

Matt of RGN writes, "Knytt is at its core, a 2D platformer, but adds a large world to explore and gives the player abilities to solve puzzles and advance throughout the world, allowing the character to dash, fly and teleport, among other powers. Each chapter of the game involves different aspects of gameplay, with the first being an introduction to the main character, the second focused on a ball form, and the third combining both together. While frustrating at times during the beginning as you figure out how each power works and controls, once youve got the hang of it, Knytt Underground is absolutely hard to put down and each place you explore is a fun experience."

News::Ambitious open-world horror game The Forest detailed

Jeffrey Matulef (Eurogamer) : When I think about games that have disappointed me, I can't help but think of BioShock. It's not that Irrational's dystopian shooter was a bad game, but it wasn't really what I thought it was going to be. I was lured in by the premise of being an anonymous survivor desperately trying to escape the ruined, mutant-infested remains of a spectacular underwater city. I thought you'd get to navigate this environment in an open-ended fashion, taking advantage of a supposedly rich ecology of mutated miscreants. Instead it ended up being a bunch of linear corridors full of one-dimensional kill-happy characters and binary choices.

The game is loosely based on Bram Stokers novel, Dracula which centers around the son of Abraham Van Helsing whom is a legendary vampire hunter. It takes place in the fictional land of Borgova which is some kind of gothic-capitol city of the kindgom, Borgovia. Monsters created from some type of science have been set loose in the kingdom, and your tasked with exterminating the monsters from the city, and living up to your fathers legacy.''

News::Silicon Knights loses appeal against Epic Games

If you haven't been following the Silicon Knights vs. Epic Games Saga, it hasn't been pretty. A North Carolina court ordered Silicon Knights to pay Epic Games millions ($4.5m in damages, and $4.7 in court fees), after a failed lawsuit by SK and a successful counterclaim by Epic. The counterclaim alleged that Silicon Knights was in breach of their licensing agreement, and the court seemed to agree.

Midway through 2013, we learned that Silicon Knights was still alive and fighting the claim, but it appears as if the tale may be at an end, as a January 6th appeal judgment has ruled in favor of Epic. The only real remnants of SK that we can really track out in the open is Denis Dyack, who jumped ship to Precursor Games and helped head up a Kickstarter that failed multiple times.

As someone who grew up with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness, and Twin Snakes -- it's pretty depressing to see a once great studio go out like this.
