The Best Games Convention I've Been To May Soon Be No More

We're in San Francisco club called Stud, and there are people in fur suits everywhere. Colored lights and crashing beats flash like fireworks in a thunderstorm. Everyone is sweaty and drunk, but most of all they're happy. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you GaymerX, my favorite game convention—and also maybe the last of its kind.

News::Tappingo 2 will hit the 3DS eShop on August 28

I thought Tappingo was a decent (and very well priced) distraction on the 3DS eShop, but there were some problems with it that definitely needed to be addressed. Developer Goodbye Galaxy Games has taken these criticisms to heart, and will be releasing Tappingo 2 on the same delivery platform on August 28.

It'll cost $2.99 (just like the original), and it will be the very first game that the developer is publishing.

News::Point Perfect Review- Twinfinite

Garrett from Twinfinite writes, "Point Perfect, an indie game from developer Highcastle Studios, has a very specific audience. If you arent a person that likes very difficult, twitch-style gameplay, this game wont appeal to you. If you arent fond of using the mouse as a primary method of input for gaming, you will hate this game, and the game will hate you right back."

News::Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King review | Eurogamer

It's a strong start for this series of add-on chapters for Dark Souls 2, then. There are no standout battles - save, perhaps, for the grim final encounter - but the cumulative effect of its fights, puzzles and secrets is memorable: Sanctum City and its offshoot areas lodge in the mind like so many of this series' locales. It's exciting to see the team return to the ingenious, interlocking layout of Demon's Souls and the first Dark Souls and there are enough novel ideas to be found in this shantytown of pillars, temples and chipped blocks to reassure you that this is a team that has run out of neither inspiration nor vigour.

News::First Impressions of Fragments of Him | TwoDashStash

TwoDashStash's Chris Lam writes: At GaymerX2, I was strolling around the first day on the gaming and artists floor. I was then asked to try out a short demo of Fragments of Him by SassyBot, a young game studio based in the Netherlands. I described it in my GaymerX2 wrap-up article as an anti-Gone Home. You start out being told to walk around in interact with anything that is highlighted. It turns out everything you touch disappears. Every now and then, you hear the thoughts of the character youre playing as. You quickly learn that your environment is not the real world, but memories of your character who is trying to forget his dead boyfriend.

News::Hands-On with LEGO Batman 3 | The Average Gamer

Batman himself had a bunch of powers like a jetpack-wielding power suit, a sonic weapon that would shatter glass or summon moon bats (!), explosives that would destroy silver objects or a laser that would destroy gold. Since the go-to action if you get stuck is to destroy objects until a new path or device is revealed, The Average Gamer spent a lot of time just swapping suits and hitting everything in sight. Wa-hey, LEGO destruction.

News::BioWare's 'Nightmare' teaser trailer is unexpected

BioWare sent emails to fans overnight that include a "Nightmare" teaser trailer for what appears to be a new intellectual property. The video is live action, so it's hard to say what this will be other than "Hey, the guy with the head made of smoke was kinda cool."

There's also a website which hints at a gamescom reveal: "The time is near. They are watching. Your power is rising. Cologne, Germany. You've Been Chosen."

Wouldn't it be "funny" if this was somehow related to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Yeah, "funny." (For the record, I do think it is a new property -- but at which BioWare studio? Austin?)
