News::Put It All Back In Gone Home

Platform Nation - Sometimes its the smallest thing that means the most. Its a truth most often represented through clichés and parables, about the thought being what counts and David defeating Goliath. Theyre all facets of the same gem, different faces to the singular Janus. The nuances change within this collection of rote notions (the devil, after all, is in thewell, you know), but that doesnt change the fact that they all build up the same general truth: that even the most trivial parts of a running motor keep it purring instead of clunking.

PCA:Rayman Legends, Ubisoft's gorgeous, unashamedly silly platformer is the sequel to 2011's Origins, the unexpectedly fresh reboot of the hoary old platform series. 'Sequel' perhaps doesn't explain it properly, however: it's more a do-over, revisiting what worked and searching for every possible way to make it better.

Whenever a new mmo is announced, developers will always focus on new gameplay features, original combat system, a dizzying amount of skill trees, companions you can recruit to help you along in your adventures, or one of a myriad of other aspects of the game. While such topics are of vital interest to the gamer, there is one facet of the online game that is vitally important for the life of the MMO - content.

Rayman Origins was a love letter to old-school two dimensional side-scrolling platformers, and it seemed rather unlikely that Ubisoft would be able to easily match or top the experience. Somehow the Rayman team at Ubisoft dug deep and returned with an even more brilliant new Rayman title that could most definitely be described as "legendary".

News::Game Preview - Guncraft - Blackman 'N Robin

In almost every way from a shallow perspective, Guncraft directly resembles Minecraft along with Blockworld. Minecraft, when originally released, focused on crafting items and surviving, however as time went on, it became a fad on Youtube. Blockworld on the other hand received little to no popularity due to the fact that Minecraft had already expanded its fame to every horizon. Guncraft, in addition, differentiates itself very little to either of these two titles, as it incorporates the same concepts of blocks, but it adds guns to gameplay. In all honesty, it lacks originality.

"If Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn can attract 218,000 players on launch day with basic MMO launch day problems and a subscription package, there is no reason that The Elder Scrolls Online cant emulate that same success. News::Total War: Rome II Pixel Judge review

PJ: "Its been a long time since Total War: Rome. The third instalment of the Total War series was the one that really got the franchise going. Excellent reviews, good graphics for the time and enough depth to keep even the Paradox crowd occupied for some time. It was a game that took hours out of our lives, as we conquered Rome, Carthage, Macedon or Egypt. With a few mods, the game is still alive even to this day. The Total Realism mod, greatly changing the game to something a little more historically accurate for the obsessed like me. Now, after many years, Rome returns. Has our wait been rewarded?"

News::Master Yi Rework Review | Corsual

Corsual's Daniel Ball writes: "Ever since the release of the ARAM game mode in League of Legends, there have been a number of champions that have dominated, largely due to their abilities being on the seemingly cheap side of things. Nidalee has her devastating, long-range spear, Soraka has her all-encompassing Starfall ability, as well as her heals, and Master Yi, well... Master Yi was seemingly unstoppable when scaling off of Ability Power. Although the Master Yi rework was not done solely to limit his devastation potential in ARAM, the new rework has certainly changed the way he is played in ARAM, as well as in the more traditional game modes, of course. The biggest difference in the rework is undoubtedly the fact that Master Yi can no longer be played viably as a purely AP champion, and now requires a much more AD/Attack-Speed-centric build."

News::Final Fantasy 14 Team Didn't Expect So Many Players - PAX 2013 Excapist

Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida said FF14's launch problems are all due to underestimating the excitement. Excapist: Way more people wanted to give Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn a shot than Square Enix anticipated. After the disastrous launch way back in 2010, FF14:ARR's new director/producer Naoki Yoshida - known to fans as Yoshi-P - said he assumed many Western gamers would let others test the waters first instead of flooding into servers on day one. He was humbled at the response, as he said when I got to speak with him through a translator at PAX Prime 2013. It must be frustrating to have to go through a shaky launch yet again, especially since the buzz from the beta was so strong, but Yoshida still finds himself doing damage control.

In true Roman fashion, lets get straight to the point. Total War: Rome II is the best in the series yet and a serious contender for Game of the Year. News::The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Review | Entertainment Buddha

A Potpourri of Gameplay Tropes 2K Games breathed fresh life into the XCOM franchise by releasing a surprise hit in XCOM: Enemy Unknown for consoles back in 2012. This successful experiment paved the way for the long in development The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, which takes the franchises tried and true formula of turn-based strategic gameplay, and flips it on its head with the implementation of a more traditional third person shooter presentation. The Bureau oozes XCOM lore, but its use of Gears of War meets KOTOR meets Mass Effect meets XCOM gameplay formula bothered many long time fans of the classic PC franchise. While The Bureau doesnt manage to offer the same type of tense gameplay found in previous XCOM branded titles, it still provides a solid back story for the series, and nearly 15 hours of sometimes tedious, yet enjoyable gameplay.

PCG:The Roman senate will weep for Crassipes. Theyll talk proudly of how the great general threw himself against the walls of Massalia. Theyll talk of how he burned the gates and took the central square, and how a dozen Averni javelins ended his illustrious command of Legio I Italica there. But will they talk of the fleet barely a mile away that sat still and watched the great man lemming his way into the history books? Do they realise that the patriot they adored was sent intentionally to his death? I wonder what that would do if they knew that the fate of Crassipes and all the armies and settlements of Rome were not beholden to the gods, but to one bearded games journalist moving them like pawns on a vast playing board.
