News::Hands on with Woolfe : The Red Hood Diaries - Cliqist

Suzanne Verras writes: "One of my favorite stories as a child was that of Red Riding Hood. She was a sweet, but naïve girl, falling into the trap of a wolf. Luckily, the huntsman saves Red Riding Hood and her grandmother, the wolfs belly is filled with rocks and he is thrown into a well. In Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries by GriN, the story goes a bit differently. In this action 2.5D platformer, Red Riding Hood isnt the sweet innocent girl and she doesnt need any help from a huntsman. She wants to avenge her fathers death all by herself."

News::DarkEnd - PC Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes: On a general principle I have two adjectives that get attached when I am called a gamer. The first is that I am more often than not being called a niche gamer by most of the people I know. Comes with the territory of playing Nippon Ichi, Compile Hearts, a fair amount of indies and RPG Makers among others. The second thing that is said is that I am a sadistic gamer. Dark Souls 2? Took the day after it came out because lets be honest, why take the day it comes out off when stores only open at certain hours? Taking the day after means you can get home after work, slap in the game and play until you cant play anymore. I swear that was not twenty hours of gaming in two days. My point with all of this? DarkEnd falls into the both categories and it was one hell of a dungeon crawl. Seriously. Who puts poison on all the monsters on the first level? Brilliant!

News::TRI: Of Friendship and Madness Review | Analog Addiction

Hope Hornsby, Analog Addiction "As Rat Kings TRI: Of Friendship and Madness begins, a mysterious monk asks you to help him find his missing friend, the fox. His deceptively innocent request sends you on a first person adventure through the topsy-turvy dungeons and temples of the Odd Gods. The games soundtrack and brightly colored level designs work well together to create a unique and engaging world. TRI offers 16 fairly expansive levels, and while each level contains three fox statues that you must find in order to advance, there are also smaller golden totems hidden around each map. If you are a completionist like I am, you may find yourself wandering one map for over an hour. Because of this, it can be a bit difficult to keep track of the story, which is told in cut scenes between levels. The story also does not seem to have much of an impact on gameplay aside from a glimpse of the missing fox every once in a while."

News::Yoshi's Woolly World has a stage in Super Smash Bros. Wii U

I'm trying not to overdo it with Super Smash Bros. coverage but that's easier said than done when director Masahiro Sakurai is out there talking up a stage based on Yoshi's Woolly World .

I'm only human, damn it. A human who likes it when Yoshi throws eggs made of yarn.

"This stage was added and developed quite near the end of development," writes Sakurai on Miiverse. "The surfaces are soft and cushiony. The mobiles are placed in different locations depending on the situation, and they tilt according to weight distribution. The stage also gets rearranged, so the ground may disappear temporarily during a remodel."

Gotta wonder what else is hiding in Smash for Wii U.

BioWare has already made it very clear that exploration will play a much bigger role in Dragon Age: Inquisition than it has in past installments of the series. After recently having the opportunity to speak with BioWare's Cameron Lee in an Examiner exclusive, the Dragon Age producer shared with Examiner that the new focus on exploration will likely be one of the bigger changes that fans will notice. Lee admitted that fans have always enjoyed BioWare games for different reasons. Some play for the story while others prefer the combat. However, Lee predicts that everyone will enjoy exploring Inquisitions massive new map regardless of what else they may like about the game. It was important for the developer to add an explorationrich open world to Dragon Age: Inquisition. According to Lee, the genres shift towards exploration has become on the biggest ways that RPGs have evolved in recent years.

Chalgyr's Game Room writes: When I first saw Lords of the Fallen at E3 I was hooked; I had to have more. Here is this crazy, heavily armored and rough-looking man named Harkyn that has a giant hammer and a big shiny shield trudging his way through a frozen landscape with snow and wind whipping around him. As he continues to push on the ground rumbles and this massive thing emerges and all this armored gentleman does is hunker down, raise his shield, and begin a battle. As more content about Lords of the Fallen was released, the more interested I became; utilizing a loose "class" system, you can choose between three different primary styles of play.

News::NBA 2K15s 2KU Doesnt Make the Grade

GoodGameBro writes, "Every year, I have the same criticism of NBA2Ks training mode: it teaches you to play 2K, not how to play basketball. Now, prior to this year, that was a criticism that extended to every sports game, as none of the other big sports titles offered anything more than a tutorial of controls. Its something Ive written about in the past: as the games become more sim-heavy, they need to give users proper teaching tools on how to succeed in these new, more-realistic environments."

News::Had enough yet? Terraria headed to PS4 and Xbox One next week

There's no stopping Terraria. I played, and I do mean played, the 2D sandbox game years ago on PC, and it was quite the time sink. Back then, I didn't imagine it'd come to any other platforms, but it has -- to consoles, handhelds, phones, and tablets. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are up next. Those versions will be out digitally next week and at retail on December 2.

Publisher 505 Games has written about the PlayStation 4 port specifically, noting that players will be able to pinch to zoom in/out on the DualShock 4 touchpad, and it'll support cross-platform multiplay and saves with the PS3 and PS Vita editions. Also, for a limited time, the PS Vita game will be bundled with Terraria for PS4 at no extra charge.

"We're also working hard on a World Map companion app for mobile and tablet devices, which you'll be able to download for free to see where you are in the PS4 game in real-time, and work out what kind of interesting (or scary!) stuff is all around you," says 505's Richard Gittins.

I'll be passing. Also, $29.99 for a physical copy seems pricey.
