News:: Get to know the stars of Mistwalker's Terra Battle 2 and Terra Wars

The original Terra Battle came out during a time I wasn't all that into mobile gaming. I had my nice new iPhone back then, yes, but that was 2014 dammit and I had Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 to play. It's a different story in 2017. Now, I do a lot of gaming on my LG and iPad and this time I'm not going to miss my chance to play the next game from Mistwalker, even if it isn't The Last Story 2 like I really, really, really, really want it to be.

Terra Battle 2 is coming soon and a spin-off of the series, Terra Wars, is in the works right now. Two new trailers for the games just dropped that show off the many characters players will encounter on their quest.

News:: Opinion: Mario Party is bad

This one is tough to write. It sort of feels like a veil has been pulled back for me. After all these years I can finally say the words out loud, Mario Party is a bad video game.

Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of fun with it over the years, but that doesn't detract from what an unfun mess it can be. It's a board game of horrors fraught with poorly designed mini-games, mostly built on chance, that never fails to make me boil over with rage.

News:: Happy 15th birthday Super Mario Sunshine! You're still the second best 3D Mario

Fifteen years to the day, Super Mario Sunshine released to critical acclaim on August 26, 2002 (July 19 in Japan). For the first time in series history, and thankfully last, several cutscenes were fully voiced acted. Mario himself didn't speak at length, but Princess Peach, Bowser, and the newly introduced Bowser Jr. all did.

A follow to the revolutionary Super Mario 64, Sunshine brought Mario to the beautiful Delfino Island, the best hub world the series has seen including the best theme. Not just the hub, but the whole game was was decorated as a getaway paradise. Super Mario 64's Castle and the Galaxy games space theme were fine if standard, but Sunshine just eats their lunch in the personality department.

News:: 'Dishonored' gets unleashed in 'Death of the Outsider'

Our next taste of Dishonored isn't DLC -- it's an entirely new standalone title called Death of the Outsider, which lands on September 15th. That might seem like an odd move for developer Arkane Studios, but it probably makes sense. Dishonored 2, like the original game before it, never quite reached the audience it needed to. The series built up a loyal fanbase (myself included), but it's typically been overshadowed by bigger, flashier titles. So for one last hurrah in the Dishonored world, it makes sense to take a stab at a cheaper ($30) and smaller experience. Who knows, if it succeeds, perhaps the series would fair better with bite-sized entries, similar to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

News:: DNP The director of 'Final Fantasy XV' isn't finished yet

Final Fantasy XV took a long time coming. After a decade of delays, it's not surprising that both Square Enix and the game's director, Hajime Tabata say they aren't finished with Noctis and his bro squad. With not even a whisper of Final Fantasy XVI, the rest of this year (and to some extent 2018) is focused on the Final Fantasy XV universe: PC versions, expansions, mobile spin-offs and attempts at a multiplayer mode -- which is great if the rejuvenated series was exactly what you were looking for in a modern RPG. I talked to Tabata, who, eventually, steered the fifteenth iteration of the series to the finish line, here at Gamescom. He explained what worked, what didn't and somehow tricked me into evangelizing about that mobile game. (Unfortunately, he didn't say a thing about that bizarre Assassin's Creed collaboration, hours before it was announced.)

News:: Yakuza team making Fist of the North Star action game

During Sega's Yakuza series reveal event in Akihabara, on top of Yakuza: Kiwami 2 and a Yakuza MMO for mobile and PC, they topped it off with Hokuto Ga Gotoku (Hokuto No Ken is Fist of the North Star, Ryu Ga Gotoku  is Yakuza) for PlayStation 4. It's scheduled for a 2018 release in Japan. As the mixed named implies, it's somewhat of a mix between the two.

It is an original Fist of the North Star title and story with similar combat, exploration, and mini-games from the Yakuza games. Kenshiro will even be played by Kiryu Kazuma voice actor Takaya Kuroda. However, Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi reassured fans that it won't simply be a Yakuza game with new wallpaper, confirming there will be various new elements.

News:: Destiny 2 PC pre-order deal gets 18% off and beta early access

Summer is ending and the storm of Triple-As will begin anew. One of the first installment this Fall would be Destiny 2 - which is finally arriving on the PC - though at a slightly delayed release date of October 24, 2017. (Whereas console bros will get a worldwide release date of September 6, 2017).

The savings grace is that given the game is releasing so soon, PC gamers can get a taste of the game in the upcoming Open Beta running from August 29 to August 31 - and even better as an added bonus, for those dead set on grabbing Destiny 2 on release week, pre-order now grants you one day early access Open Beta on August 28 - Monday next week.

In fact, pre-load has already begun as of writing.

Like all PC big release before hand, pre-order grants you additional incentives such as discounts and weapon bonus. Depending on your region, you can save as much as 18% off when you pre-order Destiny 2 this weekend.

Destiny 2 PC Pre-Order Deals

US Deals

UK/EU Deals

All deals above are Battle.net key, which as you know, Destiny 2 is NOT coming to Steam. It's a reasonable decision given Activision doesn't really need to share their revenue with Valve (who only prints money these days instead of making games).

Note that the game is region locked, so the copy being sold at GamesPlanet is available only to UK/EU gamers, whereas GMG has Battle.net keys for US gamers.

Pre-Order Bonuses for Destiny 2 on PC

Besides the aforementioned 24 hour early access to next week's Open Beta, you'll also receive the Coldheart rifle, an exotic weapon. Here's the over-the-top description from marketing:

Coldheart Experimental energy. Deadly precision. Cold as ice. Pre-order Destiny 2 and get the Coldheart Exotic Trace Rifle.

Destiny 2 Digital Deluxe Edition

Both Green Man Gaming and GamesPlanet offers the pricier Digital Deluxe Edition, which essentially gets you the eventual Expansion Pass along with the added bonus of "premium digital content" this includes a legendary sword, legendary player emote (ooh), and a Cabal Epire themed emblem (ahh).

As the list price jumps from $60 to $100, you will be correct in assuming that the Expansion Pass has a $40 list price. The Expansion Pass is essentially a Season Pass which will contain two expansion pack, aptly named Expansion 1 and Expansion 2.

Destiny 2 launches on the PC on October 24, 2017 - a 46 days delay which was announced back during June earlier this Summer.
