Only recently, after months and months of playing Spelunky, was it brought to my attention that angering Kali can have truly dire consequences. Yes, destroying her altar -- intentionally or otherwise -- will make a bunch of spiders come after you. Most of us realize this, I'm sure.
But if you take down a second altar? (Or, even worse, a third?) You'll be stuck with a ball and chain, as shown in today's episode of The Daily Spelunk. This probably goes without saying, but I'd advise against fighting a horde of starved piranhas when you've got something so heavy strapped to your leg. I regret nothing.

Deep Down is unquestionably my most-wanted next-gen title. It's not even close.
This Tokyo Game Show trailer shows what Steven covered earlier today: future New York City, stabbing freaks, a multi-person battle with a dragon, etc. Yes, the visuals are impressive, and I'm not going to pretend like that doesn't affect my interest in the game, but the Souls-esque vibe it's giving me is primarily why I want this so badly.
I'm wary of the story being set in 2094, but maybe that'll make sense as we hear more.
The Astronauts' The Vanishing of Ethan Carter continues to look intriguing. And stunning -- gosh, these new screenshots are lovely. Presented from a first-person perspective, this PC (and eventually next-gen console, if everything goes according to plan) title stars a detective who can visualize the last moments of people who have been murdered. The more clues he finds, the longer and more vivid his visions become.
Such a cool premise. The other hook that has me interested is the developer's classification of this as "weird fiction horror, meaning our focus is on atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of our characters." If you're worried Ethan Carter isn't coming out anytime soon -- I'm right there with you -- know that it's a matter of months away, not years off.
