News::Review: Dollar Dash

For the most part, I dig Bomberman-likes. Even though they only come once or twice a year these days, there's nothing quite like powering up a party game and blowing up friends for a few hours.

Dollar Dash is very much a Bomberman-esque title, in that it pits four players in an arena like setting with traps and power-ups, but it tries to mix things up a bit with a special game mode that involves carrying cash to a parked car for points.

Sadly, it's not really enough to make a mark on the genre.

News::Prepare for zombie war in Zombie Tycoon 2

Back in 2009, the small Canada-based Frima Studio developed a quirky little title named Zombie Tycoon where you assumed the role of mad scientist Brainhov and undertook his quest to rule the world with formula Z-fueled zombies. The developer is back with Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov's Revenge for PS3 and PS Vita on April 30, 2013.

This time around, Brainhov's former apprentice, Orville Tycoon, has now turned on his master and plans to wage war to claim the world for himself. You can choose whose side to be on, with each one having different characteristics. Brainhov's zombies are fast, frantic, and ravenous, whilst Orville's are slow and bumbling, but more powerful.

Frima promises a decent single-player campaign, though only small details of the multiplayer were divulged at this moment. There's a a one-on-one deathmatch to destroy the opponent's tower, with the ability to control two zombie packs and a monster unit. Leveling up and controlling buildings will also be a feature in the game. Finally it's another Cross Play, Cross Buy title, which means you can invade PS3 & Vita users if you so wish.

Upon its initial launch late last year Assassins Creed III received some unfair criticism. As Electronic Theatre cited at the time, the barrier for entry is significantly higher than might be expected of a modern blockbuster title, but nonetheless Assassins Creed III is a hugely enjoyable, progressive action experience. The sales of the videogame surely reflected this, and subsequently Ubisofts plans for downloadable content (DLC) demonstrate a confidence in the title, if not innovation in its delivery.

The Alpha version of Arma 3 is now live on the Steam store. Players can check out the game ahead of release and help provide feedback on some of the limited content they can mess around with. The map you'll be playing on is Stratis, featuring around 12 miles of terrain. The final map of the Mediterrean island of Altis will offer over160 miles to put things in perspective.

If you're on the fence about Arma 3, you can wait until March 14 when Bohemia Interactive releases the free Alpha Lite version of the game. It'll be the same as the main Alpha, just without multiplayer and modding. Plus, you'll need an invite from someone in the actual Alpha to get this free version.
