News::Watch Dogs: A Dwindling Interest

Pixel Gate writes: ''During E3 2012, Ubisoft created a lot of buzz with the reveal of Watch Dogs, its newest franchise. Its setting, plot, and concept grabbed the attention of the masses. After all, its concept is extremely pertinent to issues relevant to society today. The demo shown allowed the game to convey its general themes and tones to the audience thanks to its pace and atmosphere, and while the demo focused on the hacking aspect of Watch Dogs, the buzz it generated was immense. Ubisoft, consequently, had people eating out of the palm of their hand.''

News::Kickstarter of the Week Ashen Rift: A Man and His Dog | GIZORAMA

Liam Lambert, GIZORAMA - "Kickstarter isnt exactly littered with first person games; 3-D modelling can be more expensive and technically demanding than its 2-D counterpart, and outside of a few gems like Gone Home and Proteus, the first person market is all but dominated by AAA developers and publishers. But how does a survival-horror FPS inspired by exploration games like Dear Esther and Journey sound? If you answered: Great in a non-sarcastic fashion, I (and presumably Barry Collins) like the cut of your jib. Ashen Rift: A Man and His Dog is such a game a low ammo, atmospheric , horror FPS about a man and his canine companion fighting to survive in a dying world."

News::Loadout Shows That Free-to-Play Can Still Work

Ive checked out a lot of free-to-play (or F2P if you like acronyms) games over the last year or two. At first the idea seemed kind of insane: download a game without paying a cent and play it for as long as you like, only spending money if you want to unlock extra costumes, items, or weapon parts. It wasnt until I spent more time with some of the most popular games from the beginning of the F2P explosion that the catch of the business model became clear.

Speaking in an interview, Marketing Producer Dax Ginn from Rocksteady confirmed that Scarecrow is the main villain in Batman: Arkham Knight, with the fear-obsessed bad guy assembling a dream team of criminals to take down the Dark Knight. Misdirection? Maybe, but Rocksteady are right that Scarecrow is one of the more effective Batman villains, his obsession with fear neatly cutting to the core of Bruce Wayne's character. Still, I wouldn't put it past the British developers to throw some curveballs our way.

News::Towerfall Ascension review | Gamereactor UK

GR-UK writes: "Overall TowerFall Ascension is very easy to recommend. This new version includes new content, a co-op campaign, unlockable characters and new arenas to play in. There's single player distractions if you need them, but at the heart of it sits a fantastic local multiplayer shooter. While it's true that there's no online component, it doesn't matter as it's an experience best served locally, with combatants sat together in the same room. There's no way of knowing for sure, but we reckon the experience wouldn't translate as well to the online space, and as such we didn't mind its omission."
