News::'The Canyon' is the next free Killzone: Shadow Fall map, out today

It's been over a couple months since the first two free multiplayer maps for Killzone: Shadow Fall dropped, so it's about high time we had another arena to play in, right? Well, have I got news for you! "The Canyon" released today and, as ever, it's absolutely free to download.

The fine folks over at PlayStation also put together a nice little clip to show off "Canyon" in all its demolished glory, and it looks like it's a lot of fun. I honestly haven't played Shadow Fall in quite awhile, so I suppose free additional content is a better reason than any to jump back in.

EVE Player Stalked For Nearly Two Years By Very Patient Punks

EVE Online, a sci-fi MMO that's full of scheming players, is famous for its many ridiculous stories of dedication, betrayal and intrigue. And the story of how some players became obsessed with someone who had one of the most expensive ships in the game feels emblematic of what the game can turn into for the most hardcore players.

The previous episode of The Walking Dead really gave the season its own rhythm and voice. Episode three, while not a total failure, squanders this potential. Instead of another emotionally charged and surprising episode

GameGrin's Joe Pring writes: "Life's a boar, and then you die. I cant imagine its a philosophy many boars would adhere to, but I wouldnt be surprised if Full Bores main characters (Frederick and Hildi) treated the phrase as gospel. Regardless of which mud-loving oink you decide to play as - they both have the same story - in Whole Hog Games puzzle/platformer, youre going to quickly find yourself out of luck and put to work in a mine where things just arent quite right."

News::CGM Reviews: The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 3: In Harms Way

The latest instalment of season two for The Walking Dead game is going to be a divisive one to some players. On one hand, it continues the impressive streak Telltale has established for spinning some of the best stories seen in the entire medium. On the other hand, this newest episode seems to have done so at the expense of the cornerstone of games; interactivity. Theres a great Walking Dead story unfolding here, but it may have done so by sacrificing the Walking Dead game that people wanted to actually play.

News::Action Henk hitting Steam Early Access on June 18

Look! It's Action Hank! I mean, Action Henk ! Man, for a minute there I thought we were talking about Dexter's favorite action figure from Dexter's Laboratory back in the day. We're actually talking a speedrunner/platformer that's crashing into Steam Early Access on June 18. The frenetic toy-stravaganza looks to combine the best of games like Joe Danger and Trials: Evolution.

Action Henk is "the most beloved action figure of all time" who's totally out of shape and wants to come back with a vengeance to prove himself. RageSquid's playful nod to those simple childhood days spent sending figures hurting through the air and through loop-de-loops will run you $9.99 and will release for PC, Mac, and Linux. Looks like there'll be plenty of opportunities for speedrunners to get their jollies in. I'll probably give it a go, too.

News::Child of Light Review | AVForums

From hand-drawn characters through to its charming rhymes, Child of Light can immediately be recognised as a wonderfully presented product. It fully embraces being an interactive fairy tale, although theres certainly more to it than a pretty veneer and a Disney princess to hold your attention. Beneath its storybook casing is a wonderfully engaging battle system that offers a respectable challenge, combining control with aggression to those who select the right difficulty level.

News::Sony expects to sell 17 million PlayStations this year

More money talk. Sony's also baring its numbers for the last fiscal year (April 2013-March 2014).

In that time, it's managed to sell 14.6 million PlayStation consoles. That's PS3 and PS4. And what with the 7 million PS4 sales as of April, it seems Sony sold about 7 million PS3s during the last fiscal year. Of course, the PS4 was available for less than half of that fiscal year, but still some nice PS3 numbers this late in the game. Only 4.1 million sales for handhelds (Vita and PSP) is a bit more disappointing, I'm sure.

Sony's sales forecast for this fiscal year (April 2014-March 2015) is actually grander. Sony expects to sell 17 million PS4s/PS3s (and only 3.5 million Vitas/PSPs). Given that the PS4 did 7 million in 6 months, it is possible, though you have to wonder when or where the PS4 might slow down. Maybe a PS3 price slash to facilitate some more sales coming from that end?

It would certainly help the gaming division, which managed to post a $78 million loss despite strong PS4 sales because of an "increase in costs related to the launch of the PS4" and a $60 million write-off on Sony Online Entertainment games.

News::This working Pip-Boy 3000 was created for astronauts, but you could use it too

How many times while playing through Fallout 3 did you stop to wish you had your very own Pip-Boy 3000? Every five minutes? Me too. Now, we're one step closer to actually having our very own Pip-Boy, straight from the vault. During the SpaceWearables: Fashion Designer to Astronauts challenge, a group of coders under the moniker of Team Reno banded together to create their very own impressive, 3D-printable Pip-Boy 3000. Truly, we are living in the future.

An iPhone 5 powers the device that runs a special app to mimic that of the Pip-Boy's iconic interface. It displays a great deal of environmental info, and the included Geiger counter measures radiation like a boss.

"We wanted to make a piece of popular science fiction into a reality so we chose the Pip-Boy 3000 from the game Fallout 3," Team Reno explained. "The goal was to bring environmental sensors into an easy-to-use cuff device that could help a wearer determine if their environment is safe for navigation or helmet removal." And though the team ran out of time before they could implement a Bluetooth heart monitor for vital signs, this is still an awesome replica if I ever did see one.

If you think you can do one better, Team Reno has made the project open source, with all the goodies available on GitHub and 3D print files up for grab on Thingiverse. Get out there and make an even cooler prototype!

News::Review: Goat Simulator [Expansive]

At first, the scale of what you can destroy seems rather staggering. Everything appears to be destructible. After a short while of play, as with most games, you get used to what tools are at your disposal. However, there is a small trick to keep you smashing and bashing, butting and batting. It includes, high scores, multipliers, higher scores, insane combinations, personal best high scores, secret areas, friends high scores, collectibles, achievements and global leader boards. No mean feat, but a small trick all the same. The controls are simple to learn, in fact, as the game loads, one of the opening screens kindly tells you nearly everything you need to know. Movement keys, space bar to jump, left mouse to butt, right mouse to, erm, rotate? What? The simulation ends right there. This is no simulation, its pure crazy silliness

News::Strata Review - Mouse n Joypad

Jack writes- "Strata is a very well thought out puzzle game that doesnt use complex game mechanics to distract away from the core game play. The use of sound and graphics really envelops players into a beautifully simple world with a comfortable atmosphere. The title doesnt achieve anything ground-breaking but it does a great job at challenging the way in which you think whilst remaining composed and unique. This game is available on Steam from the 30th of May 2014. I would like to thank the developers for letting Mouse N Joypad early access to this title. We really enjoyed it."

News::3DS titles sweeping Japanese weekly sales chart ending May 11

The Japanese weekly sales charts ending on May 11 reveal 14 of the top 20 spots have been overtaken by various 3DS games, including Mario Golf: World Tour, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, and Kirby: Triple Deluxe .

Yo-kai Watch dominates the chart, a 3DS RPG about a young boy named Keita who comes into possession of a magical watch that can identify ghosts. Level-5 has expressed interest in bringing this to Western gamers, having reached out to test the waters for any potential interest in the game. Given its fantastic sales in Japan, it looks like a game I'd definitely like to see over here.

Style Savvy: Trendsetters, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokémon X/Y , and Mario Party: Island Tour also round out the rest of the 3DS titles basking in the spotlight of the top 20. There's also Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear, which looks like a strange mixture of Digimon and dinosaurs. Has anyone played that?

With such an awesome library of handheld titles for the 3DS, it's not surprising to see the weekly software sales revealing these kinds of numbers. And you should definitely play Style Savvy: Trendsetters. You need to.
