News::Titanfall's A.I Bots Aren't Inherently a Problem, But Their Lack of Challenge Is

Matthew Byrd writes: If the RPG aspects of Titanfall were more fleshed out than some basic challenges and unlockable perks, I could perhaps understand keeping the bots in the way they are. As it stands, though, the only real in-game benefit to them is that they allow the player to summon their Titan faster, and achieve challenges somewhat more efficiently. This is in opposition to games like League of Legends, where managing your time spent battling A.I enemies in order to level yourself up, is a crucial strategic aspect.

SteamFirst: This brand new indie game from developer Tikipod aims to be simple, fun, and nostalgic. Aqua Kitty excels at all three of these things, but unfortunately fails to go a step further. News::Why bots Make Titanfall Better

Since learning Titanfall's max player count is 12, the debate raged on as to whether or not this was the right decision for the developers to make. Following player-heavy games like Battlefield, a lot of potential customers were put off the thought of having AI in Respawn's multiplayer game completely. But after having the chance to play it, it seems that, without AI, Titanfall would lose a significant chunk of what makes it so unique, leaving it at a massive disadvantage.

News::IrrationalPassions: Titanfall Beta Impressions

Alex from IrrationalPassions.com writes: "Fast, furious, explosive, and an absolute marvel to look at, Titanfall is exactly what every trailer and preview before this has pinned it as: a resurgence of life in a genre that had been losing it. As familiar as it may seem to any Call of Duty player at first, the moments evolve and change as the match goes on, and it endlessly encourages you, the player, to try new things, to take risks, and rewards you for them. You dont quite have super powers, but almost any improvisation can be reworked into a very real and very spontaneous solution to problems around you."

News::5 Shockingly Dull Minigames (In Otherwise Awesome Games)

Theres nothing quite as good at ruining an awesome game than a bad minigame. While the main game plays like a highly polished experience created by a dedicated team of talented developers, the minigame feels like it was hastily put together by a group of drunk monkeys. Minigames are surprisingly common nowadays. Franchises such as Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Assassins Creed and Grand Theft Auto are all crammed with bite-sized distractions designed to keep things fresh and provide a bit of variety. Theyre not all zingers, however. In fact some are downright terrible, completely lacking the innovation and creativity that their developers are known for. Our time on earth is finite, and many of us have wasted valuable minutes of our precious lives on the following five ridiculously dull abominations. These atrocious minigames dragged down the quality of the fantastic games they inhabit with their unimaginative, repetitive and basic gameplay mechanics. If we could erase...

News::Hands-On Impressions of the Addictive Xbox One Titanfall Beta | Entertainment Buddha

Entertainment Buddha's Matt Heywood writes, "After a rough go on Friday, the Titanfall beta was in full swing yesterday thanks to the efforts of Respawn and Microsoft. With the server issues out of the way, and thousands of new beta participants being added by the minute, Respawns super-hyped title really started to hit its stride on the second full day of the beta. If you have been skeptical about Titanfall and all of the industry praise it has been getting since E3 2013, I can now safely, and confidently say that it deserves every last bit of adulation it has received from the gaming press and fans alike. Respawn Entertainment most definitely has a special title on its hands, which in the end shouldnt really surprise any of us considering the pedigree of it development team."

Naissance is a French word for birth, or to be born. NaissanceE is a game by Limasse Five which explores the concept of beginning in an unique way. Players will likely find the four or five hours they spend with the game more of an experience than anything else. But is it worth undertaking? Thats not an answer that I can provide, as NaissanceE is the type of title that will enrapture some and annoy others. With that said, members of the latter group may benefit from playing things outside their comfort zone.

News::Pixelitis Preview: My narrow escape from death in GALAK-Z: The Dimensional

"Roguelikes may be somewhat commonplace as indie game developers continue to grow in numbers, but whens the last time you saw one that played like a space shoot-em-up? GALAK-Z: The Dimensional looks to fill that void. Conceived by an eight-man team behind indie developer 17-BIT, GALAK-Z is a PC/PlayStation 4 space shooter that has you in complete control of the physics of your ship in order to dodge asteroids, fire your blasters and shoot homing missiles at enemy combatants. And in the style of most roguelikes, levels are procedurally generated and death is permanent. The permanent death wont be so bad if players uncover a bunch of secret weapon upgrade blueprints throughout the game, however. These unlockables can carry over to subsequent playthroughs that will give players new approaches when replaying levels. While my time with GALAK-Z was brief it also happened to be very intense. Did I succeed?" -- Patrick Kulikowski

Shamefully, the game's many online dedicated servers sit empty the majority of the time and players come and go even within a single match so often it almost seems like nobody is enjoying themselves enough to stick around and kill or be killed.
