News::Gran Turismo 6: A peek under the hood

Just a few weeks ago, we were picking over Gran Turismo 6 rumors, and now here we are with our very first preview. I was surprised to walk into a hands-on opportunity just one day after the title was officially announced. Surprised and pleased.

It may not have been the PlayStation 4 launch game I was hoping for, but it's never really a bad time for more Gran Turismo.

News::Batman Arkham Origins preview: rock-steady design | Shack News

Shack News: "Fans feel rightfully cautious whenever a beloved franchise switches developers. Batman Arkham Origins is the first game in the Arkham series developed outside of series progenitor Rocksteady. The newly established WB Montreal assumes development duties on this prequel. Fans are undoubtedly going to question if an untested, unproven team can make a Batman game worthy of the Arkham label. Based on an early hands-on with the game, it appears Montreal doesn't plan on changing the formula too much. Instead, Origins largely follows the blueprint established by Arkham City."

News::In-depth Review: Resident Evil: Revelations - Electronic Theatre

Having been made available last year as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive release, Resident Evil: Revelations was at first a surprising announcement for the next high-definition (HD) title from the franchise. After 2012s barrage of new additions to the series and brand new sidelines, 2013 needs to change the game somewhat if Capcom wish to keep interest in Resident Evil from waning, and so how better than to bring the masses the most acclaimed title the franchise has offered in several years?

News::Our first blurry look at the PlayStation 4

E3 will be here before we know it. Can you feel the excitement in the air? Ever since February -- well, long before then, if we're being honest about it -- we have been eager to see what Sony's new console looks like. Here it is! Whatever you do, don't blink.

Sony will (fully) unveil the PlayStation 4 during its E3 press conference on June 10 at 6:00pm Pacific. Unless someone were to leak images ahead of time. What are the odds that'll happen?

News::Nintendo apes Kickstarter with Wario's Crowdfarter

It's safe to say that Nintendo is in a comfortable spot when it comes to first party development and funding. But Wario is not content with Nintendo's handling of the situation, and has launched his own "Crowdfarter" parody site, counting down the release of his new game Game & Wario .

It's a cute site that asks you to tweet or post about the project, with funny stretch goals like a digital "I crowdfarted!" badge for getting 5 bajillion coins. I like that Nintendo has a sense of humor about the whole thing, and hopefully that humor will translate into the full release next month.

News::Gamesradar- Batman: Arkham Origins Preview

GR:Set during a blizzard on Christmas Eve, Arkham Origins takes place a mere two years after Bruce Wayne decided to stop being polite... and start getting real. Black Mask has put a bounty on his head, and a slew of masked assassins have taken to the streets to try to kill the Batman. We explored a snow-covered Gotham in a recent demo, and within minutes we were sucked back into the world, searching out 911 calls, headbutting criminals, and swooping through the streets. We saw some familiar faces (that lacked familiar voices), used some familiar toys, fought in some familiar battles, and, well, there's a lot of familiarity.

News::Batman: Arkham Origins slated for Oct. 25

"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has unleashed some more details regarding Batman: Arkham Origins, including a trailer and a release date of Oct. 25 for PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360. Batman will be voiced by Roger Craig Smith, whose vocal chops include Chris Redfield, Ezio and Sonic the Hedgehog. While Kevin Conroy is still confirmed to have his voice featured in Arkham Origins, at this point it is unknown how it will be featured. Joker will also be in this prequel, with his voice being handled by Troy Baker, aka Booker DeWitt from Bioshock Infinite, Snow from Final Fantasy XIII, and Two-Face and Robin from Arkham City. No news yet on the 3DS/Vita Blackgate iteration, but Id wager a reveal is not too far off. Watch the new trailer not only is it pretty freaking awesome, but it features some of the villains we can expect to see, including Black Mask, Deathstroke and Deadshot." - Patrick Kulikowski

News::Nintendo Download Europe: Kirby and Donkey Kong

Europeans have a lot to look forward to today, as Kirby's Dream Course (one of my favorite Kirby games) and Kirby Super Star (one of the best platformers of all time) headline the Wii U Virtual Console. If you own Kirby's Adventure on the Wii U eShop (which you should, as it was €0.30 / £0.30), you can net both games for the discounted price of €5.59 / £3.79 each until May 30th. Personally, I'm loving this new franchise discount system they started last week with Super Mario Bros. 2 and hope they continue it. Resident Evil Revelations and LEGO Batman 2 are also coming to the Wii U by way of full retail downloads on May 24th.

The 3DS is getting some new content with Swords and Soldiers 3D (beware, I hear bad news about this port), as well as Air Battle Hockey 3D and Groove Heaven. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3D are available as full downloads if digital is your thing. Denpa Men: They Came By Wave is discounted to until May 30th, and Project X Zone gets a demo, as well as Rabbids Rumble.

News::Review: Sanctum 2 (New Gamer Nation)

The idea with Sanctum 2 is to construct walls and damage-dealing defensive towers to impede and destroy enemies who march in waves to attack your core. Pretty standard. The twist is that the player doesnt sit idly by watching the towers do all the work; you must lend your characters own firepower to the battle. Developer Coffee Stain Studios claims Sanctum and Sanctum 2 are the only such tower defense/FPS hybrid, and theyre certainly onto something conceptually interesting here.

News::Telltales The Walking Dead Review | Press Start Australia

Kevin at Press Start Australia writes: "The Walking Dead is not an action game, it is barely a zombie game. It is a dialogue driven dramatic piece of story telling that uses the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop to study the effects of human behaviour when they are brought down to their lowest common denominators, and it is absolutely brilliant. There is nothing like this and you simply must play this, whether it be on PC or XBLA or PSN or now their retail hard discs on sale. The story, the dialogue, the voice acting all comes together to form one of the most emotionally driven games I have ever played. I cannot heap enough praise on this, and all I can say now is that I personally cannot wait to see the next installment of Telltales The Walking Dead."

The past just got a whole lot prettier with Final Fantasy 7 International. By Josiah Renaudin Remember Final Fantasy 7? OK, silly question. News::Tearaway is a must-own for the PlayStation Vita

Last week, I got to preview a bunch of current-gen games, which we can expect to see during E3, at a special pre-show event that entailed several different game companies. The Sony showcase in particular had a handful of games that are now on my radar, such as The Last of Us , Luftrausers, and Doki-Doki Universe .

But out of everything I saw, Media Molecule's Tearaway was by far my favorite game to play. The papercraft world that they've created is incredibly charming, and the way it incorporates the Vita's features along with the actual players themselves makes it so you never want to leave that world.

News::Killzone: Mercenary is the FPS the Vita has been needing

The PlayStation Vita is a great system with a slowly increasing library of great titles. The exception being in the first-person shooter genre, that is.

You'd think that after one of these big game companies made a handheld with two joysticks that there would be a bigger incentive to create more first-person experiences. Instead, we've gotten only a few first-person shooters to date: Resistance: Burning Skies was a joke, and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified was an insult.

I recently went hands-on with Killzone: Mercenary for the Vita, and based on what I saw, it could finally be the FPS the Vita has been so badly needing. It's hard to say this early on if it's a must-own, but my early impressions are at least far more favorable compared to the previous two disasters.
